Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 683
Sammy's brow furrowed as he quickly checked the location on his phone... This was exactly where amniocentesis is performed!
He took a deep breath, having always wanted to get a sample of the amniotic fluid DNA from Florence's womb.
And there she was, doing it herself.
But why would she go for a paternity test?
Puzzled as he was, Sammy didn't sit idle. He noted the time Florence entered the clinic and swiftly accessed the dark web, bribing a nurse in the genetics department of the hospital. Another hour later, Florence emerged, a document in hand, escorted by her bodyguards as she left.
Meanwhile, Sammy received the test results from the nurse on his computer.
He stared in utter disbelief!
The document listed the mother as Whitney, his mom!
And the DNA obtained through amniocentesis matched Whitney's with 99% accuracy.
Sammy collapsed to the ground, clutching his laptop, his heart pounding like a drum.
His dark eyes began to redden.
Was this an unexpected joy or a bolt from the blue?
The child in Florence's womb... really was his mom's embryo.
His dad's child with Whitney!
His guess was correct. So, Florence's visit to Ryan was to obtain Whitney's DNA, which must have been preserved during her surgery!
His hunch had been right! And now, a weight seemed to press down on his soul.
The baby's parents, his dad and Whitney, had no idea...
And Florence obtaining such a DNA report - whom was it meant for?
Was it for Jarvis?!
Their lengthy secret discussion last night, was it about trading his sibling for something? Sammy's gaze turned icy, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
How could he protect this baby?

On the other side, Whitney drove to the Sheldon Group headquarters, rushing to a morning meeting.
After the meeting, Cody mentioned that Sandy took Danny to the company's children's center for fun.
He also pointed to the office, "Ms. Valentine, Mr. Nelson was looking to discuss a collaboration with you." Whitney turned to see Shane and inwardly rolled her eyes.
The old "business meeting" excuse.
"Mr. Nelson, is dropping by my company the only trick up your sleeve?"
Shane leaned back, stretching his legs, "I was about to ask you about Sandy's whereabouts."
Whitney incredulously replied, "You haven't gotten her Facebook yet?"
"I have, but I dare not message too often. Afraid she'll think I'm pestering her."
Whitney gave him a 'you are indeed pestering' look, "She took my son out for fun."
Shane feigned a heavy sigh, "When will she take her own daughter out?"
"That's on you to figure out."
Shane gave a bitter smile, resting his chin on his hand as he looked at Whitney, "It's frustrating. A bachelor like me, eager yet helpless!
You know, only if she opens up to me, drops her guard, can I possibly take her for a check-up to find out what's really wrong, why she doesn't recognize me. Whitney, won't you consider, unlocking her heart for me?"
Whitney snapped the file shut, "You're trying to brainwash me again.
Do you realize that unlocking the gates of memory could unleash something horrifying, potentially hurting her?"
Shane wasn't oblivious to the risks. He didn't know what had happened to her during her studies abroad, leading to memory loss.
Was Florence involved?
He shrugged in despair, "You're so heartless, securing your own happiness without caring for others?"
Who said she had secured her happiness?
Thinking of Bryce, Whitney felt lost too.
She didn't have any male friends to consult, previously she might have asked Parker or Orion.
Suddenly, Whitney's gaze fell on Shane,
He could be considered a half-friend, couldn't he?
Whitney coughed lightly, "Mr. Nelson, since we're chatting, I have a question."
"What's up? Let's hear it." Shane leaned in with a gossip-hungry look.
Whitney warned him, "Don't spread this around. It's for a friend who wanted to ask.
If you found a video of your wife cheating with another man on your wedding night, what would you do?"
Shane paused, then looked at her oddly, his hand brushing his nose as he chuckled, "Ms. Valentine, you're so cute."
"..." Damn, did he guess it?
Whitney wished for the ground to swallow her up. After all, her abduction by Ludwik on her wedding day was public knowledge. Slowly, Whitney's face flushed as she lowered her voice, "Yes, that friend is me."
"Haha."
Shane caught her deadly glare and quickly sobered up, "I deeply sympathize with your situation.
But if I were that man, I'd be livid, wanting to kill the adulterer."
"And... would you hate your wife?"
"It depends on what the video shows.
If she's a victim, resisting throughout, I'd be heartbroken, blaming myself..."
Shane glanced at her meaningfully, "But if she doesn't resist at all, even seems to enjoy it, any man would want to kill such a woman,
At least, I'd feel she's deceitful, maybe even..."
"Even what?"
"Promiscuous, having feelings for the adulterer." Shane awkwardly spoke the truth, "Anyway, I'd never forgive her, I'd punish her." Whitney felt a chill.
Shane's words likely reflected the stance of most men.
Her thoughts were in turmoil, lost in contemplation.
Shane leaned closer, seriously adding, "You're actually asking about Bryce's reaction, right?
What's up, is he acting strangely?"
"Bryce... he doesn't blame me."
"Huh? Is he a saint? We're talking about a cheating video here. Who could stand that?
Doesn't he have a problem?"
Whitney, further confused by his words, snapped, "Stop making things worse."
"Well, you asked me."
After a moment, Whitney looked up at Shane, "Mr. Nelson, you must have connections in Emperor City. I need a favor... Investigate Bryce for me, but don't alert anyone." "Seriously? Whitney, you're kidding..." Shane was utterly taken aback.
"Just help me out, and I might consider doing you a favor," Whitney frowned, clearly not thrilled about the possibility of Bryce landing in hot water.
But then...

Five days later, Ashton completed the discharge procedures for Ludwik from the hospital.
Only upon leaving did Ludwik learn that the Lippert Resort had been auctioned off for a staggering two hundred billion. His father, along with his grandmother and Aunt Erin, had left the affluent enclave of Brew Hill and settled down in a villa within the Lippert family's holdings.
Though it couldn't compare with the grandeur of Everwood Villa Estate, the villa community was neat, tidy, and reasonably spacious.
When Ludwik arrived, his father was resting in the yard with his grandmother.
Riley Lippert released a bewildered Justin and brought over a chair, saying, "Ludwik, take a seat."
Ludwik noticed his father wasn't using a wheelchair anymore but now relied on a cane.
However, his grandmother now needed a wheelchair, appearing quite frail.
"Dad, Grandma, how are you both feeling?" Ludwik's eyes were shadowed with guilt and concern.
