Whitney's gaze flickered towards Ludwik, her brows furrowing slightly in concern.

"Ha!" However, Ludwik, who had already seen through Bryce's self-directed drama, could only scoff coldly.

"After all I've done, Ludwik, what's with the scoff? Got anything else to say?" Bryce glared at him, visibly irritated.

Ludwik's laugh was cold and detached. "A self-inflicted wound to gain sympathy? That's a classic, straight out of Mr. Lutz's playbook.

I'm not as good an actor as you are.

But if Ms. Melford's disappearance has anything to do with you, the truth will come out eventually!"

Whitney's brows knitted slightly.

Bryce immediately raised their intertwined hands, his gaze softening, "I swear, I know nothing about Ms. Melford's disappearance. If I did, may lightning strike me down!

Whitney, if it weren't for my fear of losing you, why would I make such a curse because of his provocation?

You really must stop breaking my heart. I forgave you today for contacting him behind my back, but you have to promise to move in with me tonight. I can't bear the thought of you being alone out there anymore." Bryce's gaze was a mix of jealousy and lament, his face a mask of disappointment.

Whitney felt somewhat ashamed.

He had taken the initiative to involve the police and had even sworn an oath. It seemed... his hands were clean.

What more could she ask of him?

Bryce's wounded expression made her feel like the villain, despite her promise to steer clear of Ludwik. Regardless of her reasons today, she had broken her word.

Fair is fair, and she was in the wrong.

A twinge of guilt prompted her to apologize, "Bryce, I'm sorry, I was just here to report the case with him..."

Ludwik's gaze darkened considerably.

"Just here to report a case..." She made it sound so trivial.

Bryce coldly glanced at Ludwik, a hint of triumph in his expression, deliberately cradling Whitney's face, saying softly, "I'm glad we've cleared up this misunderstanding. I want to trust you, but to ease my mind, move in with me tonight. I can't stand the thought of you being out of my sight."

Whitney took a deep breath, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts.

She didn't want to discuss this in front of Ludwik, but she owed Bryce an explanation.

Reluctantly, she nodded.

Turning away from the drama, she said awkwardly, "Ludwik, since we've already contacted the police, I won't trouble you further. Thank you for today."

Ludwik felt a sting in his heart, still siding with Bryce despite her brief moment of doubt, quickly overshadowed by Bryce's deception.

Bryce was cunning...

His gaze on Whitney turned icy as he bit back his words.

This look forced Whitney to turn away, "Bryce, let's go inside and finish up."

"Don't worry, Whitney. Given my standing in Emperor City, the police will want to stay on my good side and take this case seriously. You look tired from running around all day. Don't stress; you should head back.

I'll have a word with the chief."

Bryce's smile was full of warmth as he tenderly touched her hair, his actions deliberately provocative.

"Alright then," Whitney agreed.

Just then, a text from Cody arrived, hinting at some hopeful news from the hospital about her father showing signs of awakening?

Her eyes lit up, and she immediately turned, "Bryce, I need to head to the hospital. Can you handle things here?"

"Go ahead," Bryce said gently.

Both men watched Whitney leave.

Bryce, with a smirk, made a call in Ludwik's stern gaze, "Housekeeper? The lady will be moving in tonight. Prepare a rose petal bath and the nightgown I picked out for her. I want her to wear it." His words were a direct challenge to Ludwik.

Ludwik's eyes flashed with cold fury, but he couldn't hold back any longer. Rushing forward, he landed a punch on Bryce, "Don't you dare touch her!"

To his surprise, Bryce didn't dodge. Wiping the blood from his lip, his once gentle face twisted into a sneer, "Remember, Ludwik, she's my wife now.

How I cherish her is my business.

And she'll be willing too!

Ha, look at you now. You're nothing compared to me. What right do you have to compete?"

Bryce brushed off Ludwik and walked into the police station, where the chief greeted him warmly, a clear sign of familiarity... The chief's attitude towards Bryce made Ludwik's eyes narrow further.

He began to understand why Bryce was so bold in involving the police; it was just a ploy to divert suspicion from himself, likely even instructing the chief in private not to delve too deeply into Tiana's case. This facade was something Whitney couldn't see through!

Ludwik frowned, realizing Tiana's disappearance was likely tied to Bryce.

He left the police station deep in thought, determined to find a way to warn Whitney.

And the thought of Whitney agreeing to move in with Bryce tonight, complete with a rose petal bath...

Ludwik clenched his fists, his heart aching. No, he had to find a way to stop this.

-

Leaving the station, Bryce felt good as he got into his car, "Brian, head back to the honeymoon villa..."

Under the shadowy trees, the car's interior was dim, and the driver sat motionless, sensing something was off. Bryce turned, only to feel a gun pressed against his head suddenly!

"Don't move." The icy voice of a man, laced with a dangerous chuckle, sent shivers down his spine. "Who... who are you?!"

Bryce caught a glimpse of the man next to him, his face hidden by a black mask, an ominous and terrifying sight.

He also noticed another masked figure in the passenger seat, his large frame making the car feel cramped.

The man turned, offering Bryce a chilling smile, "Hey."

Bryce was on edge, "Who the hell are you guys?"

"Just someone who wants a word with you."

The man in front spoke Bryce's name with a haunting calm, "Bryce, stay away from Whitney."

"Are you sent by Ludwik?" Bryce's eyes turned ice cold.

If Ludwik was behind this little game, he was seriously overestimating himself. Right outside the police station, he had already been at a disadvantage, and yet, this man kept targeting Whitney. Sooner or later, Bryce was going to take him down for good, making sure he'd never recover!

"No, you've got the wrong guy."

The man in the front row flicked his lighter, and a dim flame leaped into view. His voice was sinister, each word chillingly deliberate. "Just remember what I'm telling you. If you so much as lay a finger on Whitney, this gun will blow your head clean off!" Bryce clenched his fists, his body seething with suppressed rage.
