Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 799
Whitney felt a chill in her heart, "Maybe Ludwik was right. He wants to torment me slowly. He hasn't shown his true colors yet, probably because he hasn't got me, and I haven't fallen for him or submitted to him.
If I were to carry his child, that's when he'd reveal his true self and start his real revenge."
"But today, Ryder intercepted those two surveillance videos. We could use them to force a divorce," Shane remarked, raising a skeptical eyebrow. "For someone as hypocritical as Bryce, his reputation is everything. He's climbed the social ladder on that alone; he definitely wouldn't want those videos getting out."
Whitney remained silent.
She would keep those videos safe.
A cold sigh settled in her heart. Three years ago, Bryce did help her a lot when she was hurt by Ludwik, always standing by her side.
Now, Whitney couldn't discern whether those were his true feelings or pretense.
She never imagined they would come to this point one day.
Even though she didn't love him, she had been grateful to him.
But Bryce, he never gave up on wanting her, what was he really after?
Whitney's mind was a mess, engulfed in a cold fog.
"Living with Bryce is like walking on a knife's edge," Shane warned bluntly. "If you won't move out, at least lock your doors at night and check in with me for your safety!
You wouldn't want me to spill the beans to Ludwik about the danger you're in, would you? He might try to stop you then."
Whitney glared at him, not wanting Ludwik to find out and complicate things further.
She reluctantly nodded, "Thanks, Shane."
"Also, I think it's best to keep your kids with Ludwik for now. Don't let them spend too much time with Bryce.
I suspect Bryce isn't just seeing one woman. Given his experience, he's definitely not sticking to just one secretary. Who knows if he's clean?" Whitney cringed, her skin crawling at the thought.
-
On the other side, Bryce was feeling refreshed after venting with his secretary.
Then, he received a call from Inko Group. Phineas, who had been avoiding him just that morning, now wanted to sign a deal with him.
A stroke of luck, Bryce thought, but he was always cautious.
After hanging up, he immediately called Jarvis, "Jarvis, did Inko Group contact you too?"
"You got the call as well?" Jarvis chuckled with a hint of smugness. "Phineas is considering giving the deal to the Patrick Group after all. I knew it. With Ludwik's current status, how could Phineas possibly favor him? Agreeing to meet Ludwik was probably just a formality.
I've heard Phineas values reputation above all. He's probably just trying to avoid badmouthing Ludwik behind his back.
Right now, the real top company in Emperor City is the Patrick Group, followed by your Lutz Group.
Why would Inko Group settle for less?"
Bryce felt reassured.
Even a small collaboration with Inko Group was a big step for the Lutz Group.
He immediately had his secretary prepare the proposal and contract, excitedly heading to the signing venue.
Phineas himself was present, sitting solemnly in the business meeting room.
Upon seeing Jarvis and Bryce arrive, Phineas's brows furrowed slightly.
Parkie, that rascal, making him play along with this farce. Here he was, a director at Inko Group, having to perform according to Parkie's wishes, all because Parkie was his beloved nephew.
And he really couldn't stand the Patrick family behind Jarvis.
Their methods of undermining Ludwik seemed too harsh to him.
Handing over advanced technology to a company like the Patrick family could spell trouble for Inko Group down the line.
With a stern smile, he said, "Gentlemen, the heirs to the Patrick family and the CEO of the Lutz Group, you've both arrived?
The contracts are prepared. Have a look."
"Mr. Wilson, it's an honor. I heard you met Ludwik this morning. How come you've decided to give the deal to both the Patrick Group and the Lutz Group in the end?" Jarvis entered with a bow, his gaze sharp. Bryce, too, had questions but extended his hand respectfully.
Phineas stood up, shaking their hands with a commanding air, "I am a fair man. I meet with all companies that come to bid. For a company ranking at the forefront of Harmonia Country like the Patrick Group, I'm quite reassured, hence the meeting wasn't necessary. The Lutz Group is an emerging company with a solid strategy. I believe giving you a chance will be mutually beneficial.
Any other questions?"
His demeanor was modest but firm.
A pie falling from the sky, a massive deal. Jarvis wanted nothing more than to sign it and report back to Wade, not daring to question Phineas further.
And Bryce was already over the moon.
Phineas sees potential in the Lutz Group! That was the message he got!
After reviewing the contract, both men eagerly signed the technology cooperation agreement with Phineas representing Inko Group: the Patrick Group investing 500 billion and the Lutz Group 300 billion.
Once the contract was signed and their goals achieved, Phineas had Jarvis and Bryce leave.
Jarvis rushed back to the Patrick family to see Wade.
Bryce lingered outside the hotel for a moment, squinting in contemplation after Jarvis left. He decided to double back and have another chat with Phineas, hoping to get closer to him.
Signing with the Lutz Group indicated Phineas's satisfaction with their dealings-an encouraging sign for Bryce.
Getting on Phineas's good side could mean no longer playing errand boy for Wade, and he could even stop groveling for Ronan's favor.
After all, Phineas held more sway than Ronan.
Aligning with him could open doors to presidential favors and opportunities with the Inko Group...
Bryce mulled over his plans, making his way back to the conference room alone. Just as he was about to knock, he noticed Phineas starting a video call inside. Without an assistant by his side, Phineas hadn't noticed Bryce's return. From his angle, Bryce could see the computer screen clearly.
A woman was on the video call, quietly reviewing a document as Phineas briefed her, "Madam Chairman, the strategic direction for Inko Group is outlined as follows. The detailed documents have been sent internationally, and you should receive them shortly. However, Parisa, you've been in Eurovoria for many years. When do you plan to visit Harmonia Country again?"
"There's no need to discuss unrelated matters during the meeting, Shen Dong. This understanding has served us well over the years," the woman responded, her voice deep and decisive.
As she slightly tilted her head to close the document, Bryce caught a glimpse of her face from the doorway. He gasped, taken aback. That face... It bore an uncanny resemblance to Whitney's focused expression at work!
Despite the marks of time and added wrinkles, her beauty was undeniable.
It was as if Whitney herself was looking back at him.
Bryce stood frozen, his eyes shining with astonishment.
