Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 938
Now... the medical records and the recordings were out in the open, and Endora knew her chances of coming out unscathed were slim to none. No matter how much she tried to argue, the evidence was too damning for anyone to take her side anymore. "Can you believe Endora was this vicious? She didn't have any beef with her cousin's family, yet just because she was green with envy over Tiana, she got her dad thrown behind bars?"
"Such a schemer, partnering up with Barclay of all people. How low can you go?"
"A woman this manipulative is downright scary. No way I'd ever tie the knot with someone like her."
"I heard through the grapevine ages ago that Miss Endora was living it up in those male model clubs. Nobody dared to spill the beans back then. No wonder she caught an STD, and then has the nerve to blame it on Parker, saying a miscarriage caused her infertility? That's a laugh. If she's infertile, it's probably from her own wild lifestyle!"
"She's playing the Doonan family for fools - Mr. Doonan, Parker, you guys don't owe her a thing!"
The chatter turned what was supposed to be a blissful wedding scene into a complete turnaround.
It was as if each word was a knife, slicing through Endora's facade of lies!
She was panic-stricken, as pity turned into loathing, making her the target of everyone's scorn.
Her whole reason for marrying Parker was now gone - Parker was very likely not going to marry her today.
She knew it. Parker probably couldn't wait to back out now.
Endora's eyes reddened as she lost control, glancing at Tiana - the root cause of all her misery.
It was this damn woman, with just a few words, who had ruined her chance at happiness.
No wonder she had that snide tone before the wedding: "Endora, you'll get what you deserve today."
She had planned it all along.
Endora, in a moment of fury, lunged at Tiana, hands outstretched to choke her, hissing, "You wretch, it's all because of you. You happy now? Well, today, we're going down together!"
Tiana narrowed her eyes, but Endora moved too swiftly for her to dodge.
Just as Endora's hands were about to clasp around her throat, the expected pain didn't come.
A man's arm intercepted Endora's frenzied attack, swiftly pulling Tiana to safety by her waist.
Endora, with a fierce look and her face pale with shock, turned to Parker.
Her fingernails, beautifully manicured, sharply grazed Parker's hand, drawing a fine, bright line of blood against his fair skin.
"Parker... Parker, why are you protecting her? She's ruining me!" Seeing Tiana safe in his embrace, Endora's jealousy boiled over. He had never held her like that, never had eyes only for her like he did for this wretch. She couldn't stand it and roared, "Parker, how could you do this to me?"
"Why should I owe you anything?" Parker's handsome face was marked with disdain, his voice cold and merciless, "A thief crying catch the thief. You're not making any sense.
Given you're in perfect health, there's no need for me to marry you. Besides, I never intended to go through with our union.
Officers, since you're here, take whoever needs to be taken in for questioning. This place is a mess and needs cleaning up!"
"Parker... what are you saying? You want the cops to take me?" Endora's eyes were bloodshot, her whole body trembling, "Our three-year engagement, don't you feel anything for me at all?"
Parker didn't even want to respond, his gaze icy.
Tiana, standing safe under Parker's protection, spoke up, "You and Barclay are accomplices, shouldn't you be taken in for questioning?"
Endora, seeing the two of them together, felt her sanity slipping. She glared hatefully at Tiana, teeth clenched in a cold laugh, "Tiana, you seem to have forgotten, I still have a trump card against you! You dare to stand against me today, I'll make you regret it." With that, Endora held up half a vial of antidote above her head.
Tiana's eyes hardened, breaking free from Barclay to rush forward. She had to get it, to expose Endora's true face was her aim today. She had gambled on Endora making a mistake amidst the chaos, ensuring she could snatch the antidote.
"Endora, give me my dad's antidote!" Tiana leaped towards her.
"Give it to you? I'll make you regret it, you wretch!" Endora crushed the vial, the antidote disintegrating instantly. Tiana, caught off guard, felt her face grow cold as she tried to pry open Endora's fingers to seize what was left.
But it seemed the antidote had been tampered with, dissolving into liquid once crushed.
A puddle of medicine dripped through Endora's fingers.
Endora laughed triumphantly, her eyes narrowed as she stared down Tiana, "Didn't see that coming, did you? You thought having seen the antidote meant you could get it? I've made it impossible for you to take! You've ruined my marriage, I'll make sure your dad pays dearly. Ha... Haha..." Her maniacal laughter was cut short as Whitney grabbed her, "Officers, please take this criminal away."
The officers approached, restraining a struggling Endora. Glancing at the 'evidence' displayed, they informed Whitney, "We'll take Endora in for questioning, but the recordings, being illegally obtained, can't be used as evidence in court. Miss Tiana should be aware of this." Whitney frowned, already anticipating this.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have waited until now to release the recordings, knowing they couldn't legally prove Endora's guilt.
Whitney then mentioned, "Regardless, Miss Endora has caused a disturbance, injured Parker, and threatened Tiana verbally. Surely that warrants a trip to the station?"
The officer nodded, "Miss Endora, please accompany us to the station, along with Barclay!"
"I won't." Endora's eyes, cold and defiant, still unwillingly trailed after Parker.
Seeing Parker's deep, affectionate gaze that seemed to always linger on Tiana's ethereal figure, Endora felt her world shattering once again. Clenching her fists tightly, she whispered under her breath, "Tiana, Tiana, you won't get away with this." Whitney overheard her, furrowing her brows before leaning in close, her voice dripping with mock sweetness, "Looks like your fairy tale ends today. They're the real family unit here. You and I both know it, Endora. Don't push me to my limits!" Endora's face hardened as she caught the implication in Whitney's words. It was almost as if Whitney was outright saying she knew about the paternity test.
With a resolve hardening in her, Endora tightened her grip on her own secret determination. She couldn't let the truth come to light, not until the very last moment.
