Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 953
Watching the grainy surveillance footage, Cherry's car was first wrecked in a collision, then four or five men in black emerged from another vehicle. They abducted her daughter, who struggled feebly, her little face smeared with blood. Tiana's heart finally crumbled, tears streaming down her face. Her child was hurt!
Whitney also saw Cherry, her face covered in blood, the adorable little face twisted in fear and crying out for 'Mommy' as seen by her lip movements. Whitney's eyes pricked, fearing Tiana couldn't handle it.
She nudged the computer forward to fast-forward. "Tiana, pull up the surveillance from the next intersection! There's only this road along the coast, they must have gone this way, they even passed by the seaside villa of Parker." "Yes, but at that time, Parker and I were completely unaware... we were busy arguing with old Mr. Doonan, Winston about our own issues, and just like that, Cherry was kidnapped. I don't deserve to be her mother, it's my fault..." "Stop blaming yourself! We all overlooked something."
Whitney frowned, trying to soothe her intense emotions. "Besides, you were at gunpoint by the old man, your life was in danger too. Right now, finding Cherry is what matters, calm down."
"I... I'll calm down, I'll calm down," Tiana hurriedly wiped her tears, her fingers swiftly moving the cursor, searching through the coastal surveillance footage.
When Parker returned, he saw Tiana's devastated face, pale and desperately trying to contain her emotions, trembling hands controlling the computer beside Whitney.
His heart skipped a beat, his tall frame tensed as he approached.
Whitney, seeing him, quietly stepped aside, signaling to Tiana, "Tiana, Parker's back."
Tiana looked up sharply. It was dark, the coastal road was unlit, with only some spotlights from the crime scene set up by the SWAT team illuminating the area.
The man's silhouette merged with the darkness, his features obscured, but his deep eyes were fixed on her, swirling with emotion. Parker moved his lips, but found himself at a loss for words. He felt defeated.
Seeing his tight lips, Tiana's anticipation jumped, her eyes dimming, "Didn't Endora say anything?"
"She resisted till her last breath." Parker, biting on a cigarette, turned to throw it away, then approached her, whispering for comfort, "Don't waste time on her. As long as we find the direction of the car, I can find our daughter with the fastest speed. We have enough people, including the SWAT."
Tiana tried to stabilize her crumbling emotions, although Endora's confession would have been the quickest way.
But with that woman not talking, even if Parker killed her at this moment, it would make no difference. They had to rely on themselves.
"Parker, Tiana has located the kidnappers, about six men. They came in three cars, surrounding Chris's car, and after ramming it off the road, they abducted Cherry and drove off. The car had no license plate and headed down the coast," Whitney informed.
Parker frowned, immediately fetching a map of the area from the traffic police, and turned to Tiana, "A mile away there's a fork, and three miles further, a left turn. This main road leads to the Banyan City Industrial Park, and the left turn circles around the city highway. Considering this, the kidnappers could have four possible directions?
If they took the city highway, tracking them would be even harder."
Tiana nodded, her fingers flying over the computer, her brows furrowed as she rapidly scrolled through the surveillance footage, suddenly saying, "Parker, they took a turn at the first fork with one car!"
It was uncertain whether Cherry was in the car that turned into the fork.
Clearly, this was a diversion by Endora and her people!
Parker immediately dispatched a part of the SWAT team, sending them the surveillance screenshot, "Please, hurry up and pursue this unlicensed SUV, search the vehicle, and contact me with any findings!" "Don't worry, Parker," the SWAT team leader nodded.
Ashton came over, focusing on Tiana, "Did the remaining two cars continue on the main road?"
Tiana continued to search through the surveillance frame by frame, with Whitney calling in police assistance to link her computer, allowing several people to review the footage together, speeding up the process. But before Tiana could answer,
Parker clenched his jaw, decisively saying, "It must be at that three-mile left turn, the two cars split up again."
It turned out, Parker had a knack for this.
After Tiana found the footage, she nodded, "Parker's guess was right, it's all a diversion. At the three-mile left turn, the two cars split again. The road surveillance is blurry, and the car windows are all sealed, making it impossible to determine which car Cherry is in!" "It's okay." Parker held her trembling hand, "The enemy is cunning, but what we have most is manpower, Ashton..."
"I'll immediately follow up with the second SWAT team to the three-mile left turn, send me the recent photo of that car!" Ashton said, taking off his jacket, ready to jump into his car even before Parker finished.
Tiana took a deep breath, "That leaves the main road, leading to the industrial park."
"I'll head to the industrial park." Parker glanced at his watch, it was almost 9 pm. His heart sank, nearly six hours since the abduction, anything could happen!
The child was too young, already injured, and so fragile.
If the kidnappers were violent, the little one couldn't withstand it.
His gaze was icy as he looked at Tiana, her slender figure almost swallowed by the cold sea breeze, standing there so long without moving an inch, a pang of pity and guilt surged in him, mustering the courage to grasp her cold fingers.
Indeed, they were frozen stiff, probably numb long ago, yet she kept working on the computer.
He looked down at her pale face, those sorrowful eyes wet with tears, always so stubborn, now utterly desolate.
His heart throbbed, his voice hoarse, gently urging her, "Why don't you go back to the city with Whitney? I'll do everything to find our daughter, I won't let anything happen to her."
"No way, this is where Cherry vanished. I'll stay right here, wait for the cops, and see if we can dig up more clues. You head over to the industrial park! I'll keep scanning through the CCTV footage. I'm just worried they might have pulled a fast one at a parking spot, switching Cherry into a fourth vehicle. That would make her even harder to track down."
Her reasoning was sound.
Parker pondered for a second before glancing at Whitney.
Whitney caught his drift and subtly nodded, "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her. Parker, we've got to find that kid by tonight, or else... We all know the drill with kidnappings, the longer it takes... the slimmer the odds..."
"No, that won't happen!" Tiana vehemently shook her head, "With all of us searching, we'll turn Banyan City inside out if we have to. It won't come to that."
