Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 964
Winston was eager to meet Cherry, and Parker was determined to take the child away.
Tiana was nervous.
At that moment, Parker's gaze, deep and penetrating, swept over Tiana's pale face. He knew what she was thinking-resisting, fearing he would take Cherry away. Maybe...
Crafting his strategy, Parker's deep voice suddenly softened, "True, the Doonan family has excellent medical facilities, better suited for Cherry's recovery. Let's proceed with the discharge!"
"But Parker... I want the child to stay in the hospital, to be with her grandfather!" Tiana protested.
Parker's gaze darkened slightly, showing his dilemma. "Tiana, as you've seen, my father is pressing me. His commands cannot be defied.
Actually, coming back to the Doonan family with me to explain directly to the old man might be better. That way, you won't have to be separated from Cherry."
"...I won't go." Tiana refused without hesitation.
Following him to the Doonan family, what was she thinking? She lowered her gaze.
Cherry, however, was curious about her daddy's home and wanted to meet her biological grandfather!
But if mommy wouldn't go, she felt disheartened, "Mommy, I kind of want to visit the Doonan Mansion... but of course, if you don't go, I won't either! Then I'd be going against daddy and Winston's wishes. I wonder if Grandpa Winston would dislike me for that?" Tiana clenched her clothes, glaring at her cunning little ally.
Parker, slightly amused, realized that on their first day of acknowledgment, his daughter was already siding with him.
Feeling a bit proud, he also looked tenderly at Tiana, his voice even more persuasive, "Come with me to the Doonan Mansion. You know the hospital conditions can't compare to the Doonan Mansion, right?
And what about safety?
You're aware that the Endora family hasn't been apprehended yet. After the recent kidnapping, you wouldn't want any more incidents, would you?"
Tiana felt a sharp pang in her heart.
Was Endora under Parker's control?
But the remnants of his family were still at large! Tiana couldn't bear any more accidents.
Thinking it over, with the situation still unclear, perhaps the safest option was to let Cherry go with him.
Her mind was struggling, her body tense and weary from resisting him.
Her vision began to blur, but she remained steadfast in her refusal.
Suddenly, a voice came from the door, "Tiana, Parker's plan is the right choice. It's not safe out there. If you let Cherry stay here, I'm worried we can't be too careful." Tiana turned sharply, to see Whitney had arrived!
Thinking of her father, she walked over, pale-faced, and asked, "How come you're back? What about my dad's transplant surgery...?"
Whitney offered a reassuring smile, "The heart transplant took several hours and is complete, but Mr. Melford's condition is still uncertain.
We need to observe for about three days to check for any rejection. The severity of rejection varies, Tiana, everything depends on Mr. Melford's resilience." Tiana's face lost all color.
It was unclear if this was good or bad news.
Her eyes misted, "I hope dad can accept this new heart and wake up soon."
"For his peace of mind, you need to take care of yourself and Cherry," Whitney advised, catching a grateful glance from Parker.
She smirked at Parker, who cleared his throat and insisted, "Since Whitney thinks you should accompany Cherry to the Doonan family, stop refusing!
It's unsafe for you to be out alone. I can't be aware of any danger immediately, and I won't allow it."
"Yeah, mommy, I can't be without you. If you don't go to the Doonan family, I'll be scared of the strangers there," Cherry chimed in, supporting her dad. Tiana was at a loss for words against them.
She didn't want to go, yet Whitney was also siding with Parker.
She gave her friend a resentful look, accusing her of betrayal.
Whitney coughed lightly, "What can I do? It's not every day that a father and daughter recognize each other, and Parker is pressing you to acknowledge their relationship. If not now, then when? The current standoff between you two needs breaking!"
Parker was clearly determined to have his daughter by his side.
And Tiana might still harbor many emotions and grievances.
But what she didn't realize was that she hadn't lost their second child; it was still there... Tiana might run, but she couldn't hide from their shared future. For the sake of the child, she had no other path.
Women often bear more, suffer more.
Whitney sighed, thinking their future might brighten, "I know you want to stay in the hospital for your dad, but unlike me, you can't help him medically. Look at yourself, barely standing. Let us, your friends and family, handle the rest. Take care of yourself first!" Saying so, she supported Tiana.
Despite Whitney's quick reaction, the frail woman stumbled towards the sofa edge. Tiana had been feeling dizzy, and now, overwhelmed with emotion, she couldn't catch her breath.
"Tiana."
"Tiana!" Whitney and Parker called out, but her world went dark.
Parker set Cherry down and rushed to catch Tiana.
Whitney quickly checked Tiana's pulse; emotional upheaval and exhaustion had weakened her significantly.
She hadn't slept the night before, staying up with Cherry, and now the excitement had taken its toll.
"What's happening to her?" Parker asked, worried, "Why did she faint?"
Whitney cast a brief glance at him, her eyelashes fluttering as she pondered over her next words, finally choosing to downplay the situation. "Think about it. She hasn't slept in days. Lately, she's been running ragged because of Endora, dealing with her dad's mess. Last night was nearly the end of her. Is it any wonder she fainted?"
"Just because of that? Nothing else wrong?" Parker's thoughts drifted to the abortion she had. Could it be a complication?
His face grew tense.
Unaware of his concern, Whitney was mulling over something else entirely. She couldn't reveal that Tiana was still carrying a child and that it was the instability of the pregnancy that caused her fainting spell.
If Tiana woke up and found out she had been deceived and the baby was still there, it could lead to unnecessary drama.
Better to wait until Tiana and Parker's relationship had a moment to breathe, at least to get through the next few days. With everything that was happening, now was not the time for confessions.
She pursed her lips and instructed, "It's nothing serious. Once you get her to the Doonan family's place, make sure she gets plenty of rest. Remember, she doesn't need any medication, nor does she need a doctor's visit!
A good sleep is all she needs, and then, maybe fix her a bowl of chicken soup for the soul."
"Are you sure that'll do the trick?"
