Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 982
"But don't you get involved, lest you end up at odds with Ashton and his brothers.
As a woman, it doesn't matter to me. Ashton can't do anything to me. After all, Elaine and I have a vendetta. What's wrong with a little revenge on the side? He wouldn't dare offend Ludwik just to come after me." "You want to..." Parker squinted at her, pondering.
"Can't let the troublemaker stay. Elaine starts something, I'll finish it!" Whitney pressed her lips together.
He nodded, whether he takes care of it or Whitney does, it's all the same. The main thing is that it's taken care of, so they no longer have to put up with that woman!
"Here's a number for you." He handed over a contact, "Used to do hits for the Doonan Group."
Whitney paused, murder was against the law, and she wasn't as ruthless as Parker, nor did she want blood on her hands.
She didn't go into details with Parker, taking the number and leaving the hospital.
First, she found out which hospital Ashton took Elaine to and the room number, then instructed Parker's man to make a move in the dead of night.
Whitney returned to her hotel, the night deep and dark. Weary, she sank into the bathtub, quietly pouring a glass of red wine, hoping to clear her head as she awaited the outcome.
-
At TriMed Hospital in Banyan City.
At eleven at night, Elaine lay in her hospital bed, her expression cold and angry. Ashton had left after she was checked into her room, saying he'd be back shortly.
Elaine thought he was doting on her, perhaps getting her dinner.
Instead, he sent a heartless text: "Elaine, now that you're settled, I'm leaving. There's a card by your bed with $200,000, enough for you to cure your illness and start over. Don't contact me again. Our debt is paid. If you need anything else, reach out to my secretary.
I'm a married man, as you know. I'm sorry."
Ha, so righteous, treating her like a plague!
Could it be Ashton no longer loved her?
Elaine panicked, touching her gaunt, pale face, no longer the elegant beauty she once was. Are men really such visual creatures?
Seeing her weak, has his decade-long affection waned?
Elaine sensed it; Ashton's gaze no longer held pity, just an impatient yet obligatory sense of responsibility. His mind wandered, surely thinking of that wretch, Valerie! No.
She must cling to Ashton's heart. She needed this man as her stepping stone, she couldn't let him cast her aside!
He left her here with $200,000, which wasn't nearly enough. How could she be content living hand to mouth?
Thinking of Whitney and Parker, Elaine's expression turned even colder.
Without Ashton's protection, she'd eventually be hunted down by Parker and his ilk. How could she survive?!
She needed to make Ashton turn back, to find a way to make him care.
Her eyes darted anxiously...
Just then, the dark hospital room door quietly opened.
Elaine startled. The room was devoid of nurses and unlit, chilling her to the bone when she heard the noise, her gaze sharply turning towards the door.
In a flash, a figure swiftly closed the door and darted towards her bed.
Before she could scream, a dagger was suddenly pressed against her throat.
Elaine was petrified!
She stared at the scar-faced man above her, terror retreating, "Who are you? Who sent you?"
The man glanced at her coldly, lifting her off the bed and onto the floor, dagger close, his voice as cold as a machine, "Someone said you've done too much evil. They want me to cripple you and dump you abroad, never to return." "Ah! Who, who wants me dead?" Elaine suddenly snapped to her senses. She had thought Whitney might act against her in secret, especially after the terrifying look she gave her at the police station.
She had always felt uneasy.
Moreover, she had hypnotized Cherry, preventing Whitney from getting the child's testimony.
Was this out of fury?
Elaine looked at the blade, her soul draining away, stuttering, "Is it Whitney? Listen to me, she hates me to the bone. Don't let her bribe you into breaking the law. If you harm me or kidnap me, you'll go to prison!" "Huh." The man chuckled lowly.
Then, looking at her as if she was already dead, he sneered, "Guess whose man I am?"
"..." Elaine stared at his scarred face, realization dawning, "Parker?"
She was doomed tonight!
Parker was a ruthless demon, in league with Whitney!
They planned to secretly cripple her and smuggle her abroad, never to crawl back?
No, that couldn't happen. Elaine still dreamed of rising again, marrying Ashton to live a life of luxury!
Whitney had her moment of triumph, now plotting her assassination, seeking to snuff her out.
Bitch...
Fury seethed within her, her face a mask of despair facing the assassin. Elaine had no leverage, but if she didn't fight for herself tonight and let Ashton know, she'd never have another chance... After a brief contemplation, she quickly looked at the man before her, a dangerous plan forming in her mind.
How ironic, she was just worrying about winning Ashton back. Whitney had unwittingly given her a gift!
A desperate situation calls for desperate measures.
A layer of malice surfaced in Elaine's eyes. As the man lifted her, likely to drag her away, she suddenly snatched the dagger from his hand, taking advantage of his distraction with the rope, and plunged the blade into her own heart!
"Ah!" Blood sprayed from her chest!
The scar-faced man froze, completely unprepared for the woman to stab herself in a moment of madness!
Ms. Valentine had given him a clear mandate: he wasn't to kill the woman, just make sure she could never come back to haunt them. The plan was to drug her, put her on a plane, and dump her in some godforsaken country like Savanterra, leaving her to fend for herself. But now, she had gone and stabbed herself, right in the heart, no less. What a mess to clean up.
As he pondered his next move, Elaine clung desperately to her phone, pressing the emergency call button with all the strength she had left. Thankfully, she had set Ashton as her emergency contact. Coughing up blood, she fixed her gaze on the phone screen, not giving the man in front of her a chance to react. Through her tears and blood, she laughed bitterly, "Ashton! Ashton, Whitney's trying to kill me, please, you have to save me, save me!"
The man snatched the phone from her hands, silencing the nonsense spewing from her lips with a sharp slap that knocked her unconscious.
On the other end of the line, Ashton's face went pale with shock.
The hospital room soon turned into a scene of chaos...
-
The first light of dawn was just breaking through the curtains when Whitney was jolted awake by the abrupt ringing of her phone. Blinking her eyes open, she realized she was still lying in the bathtub.
