Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1234: She's the one I like!
Probably because he didn't expect him to be so direct, Elva's father was stunned.
"Edgar, is this how you treat your elders?" Baggott reprimanded out loud.
"Dad." Edgar turned his head and looked at him helplessly, "I really don't like Elva, can you guys please stop trying to set us up?" "Since you think Elva is nice too, you'll see her around and maybe you'll like her." Baggott was insistent on setting him up with Elva. "No way." Edgar sounded very sure of himself.
"Baggott, it seems we've made fools of ourselves." Elva's father's tone was not as warm as it had been earlier, and he glared at Edgar, displeasure written all over his face.
Their precious daughter, whom they held in their hearts, had plenty of good men to marry, and he, Edgar, a brat, had refused!
How insensitive!
"Boone, don't say that, the boy is just not thinking straight." Baggott was quick to speak out and reassure.
It wasn't that the Khan family was inferior to the Boone family, but that Edgar really needed a strong backing at the moment.
The Boone Family was the best option.
A marriage with the Boone family would give Edgar a strong foothold in the company!
So, Baggott doesn't want the marriage to go badly.
"Is he not aware of that? I don't think we can afford it!" Elva's mother grumbled grimly as she heartily took her daughter into her arms, looking at Edgar as if she wanted to tear him apart. "Don't say that, Edgar's mother and I are very fond of Elva, and I'm sure Edgar will like Elva too, it's just a matter of time." Baggott tried to play along, a smile piling up on his face.
Elva looked at Edgar and bit her lip, "Dad, Mum, maybe Edgar really didn't think it through, don't get on his nerves."
Elva's mother frowned at this, "Elva, he said that and you're still speaking for him! Are you out of your mind?"
"Mum!" Elva pursed her lips, a little sheepishly, "I just like him, can't I?"
"I..." Elva's mother didn't know for a moment whether to call her stupid or dumb.
Elva's father was not happy with Edgar's attitude just now, but the other man was indeed also the young man he admired most, and it would be great if he could become his son-in-law. He sighed heavily, "Forget it, we'll be a family from now on, there's no need to worry so much about it."
Elva immediately beamed with joy, "Dad, thank you."
She put her arms around Edgar and looked up at him with certainty, "I'm going to make you like me!"
Edgar suddenly felt tired, he had made it so clear, why did they still not understand?
If he didn't settle this once and for all today, there would be no end to it.
He lifted his lips and was about to speak when a familiar voice suddenly sounded in his ears, "Dad, Mum, I've brought Edwina here."
At the sound of his voice, he turned his head sharply, only to see Edwina standing beside Edwards, the two of them still holding hands.
His pupils fluttered as he stared at their clasped hands, a thin layer of frost on his handsome face.
Elva noticed his reaction and, with a cold look, glared at Edwina, not hiding the cynicism in her eyes.
Edwina felt their stares and her heart pounded uneasily.
Edwards turned his head to look at her, taking in her unease, the corners of his mouth curled and he said softly, "Don't be nervous, it's not like my parents are going to eat you." Edwina reluctantly tugged at the corner of her mouth and said nothing.
An indescribable emotion came over her.
It was as if she had cheated on her boyfriend and been caught red-handed.
But she and Edgar were just ordinary friends, so where did she get such strong feelings?
"Edwina, isn't it? I didn't even get a chance to talk to you just now." Elva's mother acted kind and cordial, looking at her with a kind gaze.
"Hello aunty." Edwina, Edwina gave a smile.
"I was worried that Edwards, the boy, was going to be a bachelor for the rest of his life, but luckily he still found a girlfriend, otherwise I would really have to worry about it." Elva's mother joked with a smile. Everyone except Edgar and Edwina couldn't help but laugh.
"Brother, Mum and Dad really want you to get married, so why don't we have a wedding together?" Elva suggested with great enthusiasm.
"Sure." Elva's father thought it was a great idea, "It would be nice to have a double wedding."
Baggott smiled back, "Boone, that way we can all retire in peace too."
"Exactly." Elva's mother was all smiles as she looked at Edwina with a look of satisfaction on her face.
They had settled the marriage in a few words.
Edgar couldn't help but laugh out loud, a sarcastic smile on his face, "Did I say yes?"
As soon as the question was asked, the atmosphere, which had been very happy and harmonious, froze.
The elders looked at each other, momentarily confused as to what he was insisting on.
Edwina lowered her eyes, hiding the emotion underneath them.
"Don't worry, I won't agree to this marriage."
Edgar's words were still ringing in her ears and she could see that he was really resisting, but could he do it? "Edgar, stop talking nonsense!" Baggott reprimanded.
"Dad, I'm not saying confusing things."
With that, he suddenly reached out and pulled Edwina to him, looking serious: "She's the one I like!"
Edwina was stunned and she looked at him with disbelief written in her eyes.
The Baggott and Boone Family parents were also frozen.
What the hell was going on here?
"Edgar, have you lost your mind?" Elva lunged up and tried to pull Edgar away from holding Edwina's hand.
But Edgar was holding it so tightly that he couldn't pull it away.
"Bitch!" Elva was furious and raised her hand to slap Edwina.
Slap!
The slap hit Edwina's face so hard that her cheek was instantly tilted to one side, her hair covering her face so that her emotions could not be seen. "Elva!" Edwards hurriedly pulled Elva over and sternly reprimanded, "How can you hit someone?"
"What's wrong with me hitting someone? She's the bitch, she stole my man!" Elva yelled shrilly.
The guests around had long looked over and were all watching the show.
Today was the Boone Family mall's anniversary party, and there were not only the gentry and nobility here, but also many journalists.
If this was reported, it would be a disgrace to the Boone Family.
Edwards made a quick decision and said, "Dad, Mum, I'll take Elva away first and leave you to it."
Elva's father understood what he was saying and said, "Come on, let's go."
She glared at Edwina and would have torn her apart if Edwards hadn't pulled her away.
"Edwina, how can you be so shameless?" Elva said through gritted teeth.
Edgar frowned and said in a deep voice, "Elva, come at me if you have anything to say, Edwina, she's innocent."
