Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1262: Because it's the truth

Rawlins glanced at Hector and the corner of his mouth curled, "I hope it works out the way you want it to."

At those words, Earlene frowned, what did he mean by that?

"I'll leave you to it then."

With those words, he turned to leave.

As Rawlins turned around, his eyes swept over Hector.

The moment the two met eyes, he immediately withdrew his gaze and strutted out the door.

Hector's lips pursed slightly as he watched his figure disappear into the doorway.

I don't know if it was just him, but he saw a hint of disgust in Rawlins' eyes.

Disgust for him.

In fact, he had always known Rawlins didn't like himself, but he hadn't expected it to be this bad.

"Hector, is something wrong with you?"

Earlene asked with concern, seeing him lost in thought.

Hector snapped back to his senses and tugged gently at his lips, "Nothing."

"Then let's get on with it."

Earlene took him at his word and didn't ask any more questions.

...

Rawlins came downstairs just in time to bump into Eloise coming in from the backyard.

Both froze at the sight of each other.

Rawlins reacted first and walked over towards her, smiling softly out, "Tough?"

With her clothes all dirty and her hair in disarray, it really looked unimaginable that she was the wife of a conglomerate chairman.

To have her come to the house as a maid was indeed condescending to her.

But she did it willingly.

That must be the power of love.

Eloise straightened her hair and curled her lips in a smile, "Tough, of course it's tough."

But it was worth it if it made Hector remember her.

Perhaps it was because she was in the same boat that Rawlins felt a twinge of pity in her heart.

"Actually, you can be lazy, I'll tell the housekeeper to look after you a bit."

Eloise conceded, "No, don't. I don't want your sister to catch me in the act again."

At the mention of Earlene, Rawlins frowned, "She shouldn't have time to keep an eye on you these days."

"Why?"

Rawlins was silent for a few seconds before speaking slowly, "Because the wedding is at the end of this month and she doesn't think she'll have much time with the wedding dress fittings and all." "The end of this month?" Eloise's eyes widened in shock, "You're kidding, right?"

It was the middle of next month, but how could it be so much earlier?

That didn't give her less time all of a sudden.

Rawlins tugged at the corner of his mouth, "It's not a joke, it's true."

His tone sounded a little helpless.

Eloise got anxious, "Can't you stop this, do you really want to see them get married?"

"Do you think I could have stopped it?" Rawlins laughed to himself.

Eloise took a deep breath and pushed down the panic in her heart, "You have to stop it even if you can't, otherwise once they're married there's really no room for manoeuvre." Rawlins nodded, "Okay, I'll think of something else."

"Please."

The two men chatted for a few more minutes before parting ways to go their separate ways.

...

In the evening, as soon as Edgar got home, his mother came over and gave him a few whacks.

"You've gone too far, don't you see me and your father?"

Edgar received a few raw blows, not very hard, but they still hurt a little.

He looked at his angry mother with amusement, "Mum, what's the matter with you? Did I do something wrong again?"

"You have the nerve to ask!" Brimlad grunted coldly, "What did you say to your Uncle Boone today?"

"Said what?" Edgar remembered that he did speak to Elva's father on the phone this morning and it dawned on him, "Did Uncle Ye say something to you?"

"Are you admitting that you did say something like that?" Brimlad frowned angrily.

She had thought that the Boone Family had added fuel to the fire, but who knew that he had actually said that.

"Mum, don't be angry yet." Edgar reached out to put his arm around her shoulders, but she ducked out of the way.

"If you don't set me straight on this today, you can't blame your mother for me not understanding you."

With that, Brimlad turned, huffing and puffing, and headed for the living room.

Edgar could only sigh helplessly and lifted his steps to follow.

Brimlad sat down on the sofa, wrapping his arms around his chest and glaring up at him coldly, "Say! Why would you say something like that to your Uncle Boone?" "Because it's the truth."

"The truth?" Brimlad's voice drew up a few notches, "Edgar, you really are losing sight of me and your father."

"Mum, I never meant it that way." Edgar denied it in a hurry.

He didn't want to let the marriage between the Khan family and the Boone family affect his relationship with his parents.

"Then what do you mean?" Brimlad sighed as he shook his head, "You actually told your Uncle Ye that Elva wasn't your fiancée?"

"She wasn't in the first place." Edgar walked over and sat next to her, put his arm around her shoulders and said, "Mum, my attitude all along has been that I don't agree with a marriage between two families because I don't need any icing on the cake. I just want my marriage to be my own."

Brimlad turned his head to look at him, "Fine, you can make your own decisions. So tell me what kind of girl you like?"

"... of course" Edgar had Edwina's face in his head and wanted to blurt out that he was already with Edwina to tell his mother.

But the words came to his lips but he couldn't say them.

"What? Can't say it?" Brimlad snorted, "You are my son, do you think you can hide it from me?"

Edgar's brow furrowed.

"Don't you think I don't know you like Edwina!"

At these words, Edgar's eyes flashed with surprise, "Mom, how do you ..."

"You're asking how I know, aren't you?"

Edgar was silent.

Brimlad sighed, "Edgar, Edwina she really isn't right for you."

Maybe Edwina was nice, but not her ideal daughter-in-law.

Since she had put it out there, Edgar would no longer hide it, "Mom, the person I like is Edwina, we are already together ..."

At this, Brimlad stood up in shock, his face full of disbelief, "You're together?"

"Well, we just confirmed our relationship a while ago."

"You!" Brimlad was so angry that she couldn't speak, she felt a dizziness in her head and her body shook.

"Mum!" Edgar rushed to help her, and seeing her raise her hand to her forehead, asked worriedly, "Mum, are you all right?"

"Of course I'm not okay!" Brimlad pushed him away and pointed at his nose, exasperated, "Brat, who did you learn to do that from? How dare you hide such an important matter from us! I see you don't even consider us your parents!" "Mum, that's an understatement. What's wrong with me and Edwina being together?" Edgar suddenly felt a twinge of heart-weariness.

It had been a toss-up for months just because of his relationship.

It was so easy for him to settle down, and his mother was unhappy again.
