Chapter 1406: Nothing but multiple opponents.

Edwina saw the manager leave and got up in a hurry.

As soon as the latter saw that it was her, his face instantly filled with surprise as he quickly approached her, "Edwina, what brings you here?"

"Manager, how are you?" asked Edwina with concern.

"I'm fine, how are you?"

"I'm quite well."

"I saw the news of your engagement, congratulations."

The director was surprised to see the news, but at the same time genuinely happy for her.

All these years she had had an extraordinarily hard time with the baby on her own, and it was really nice to finally have someone willing to take care of them, mother and child. "Thank you, director."

After the two took their seats, Edwina looked around, "Looks like there are a few more new faces."

"Well, a few new people have been recruited since you left." The director sighed, "None of the hires are as smart or as savvy as you."

At that, Edwina smiled, "Manager, I always made mistakes at first too, but you taught me little by little and I got things right."

"That's because you're smart and you learn fast."

The manager replied that he wasn't kidding and smiled with relief, "So the new boss is you, then I'm relieved."

Edwina lost her smile, "Why are you relieved that the new boss is me?".

"I was worried that the new boss was one of those rude and unreasonable people." The director shrugged his shoulders in embarrassment. "If that's the case, then yes you can rest easy."

The manager stood up, "Edwina, welcome to the restaurant in your new position."

Edwina stood up as well and looked at him with a Dulce smile, "Thank you, we'll be able to work together again."

Edwina was looking forward to the next few days.

A few days after the party, Paulina realized that Chris had not contacted the Leoz Group and there was no movement.

It was as if the conversation about cooperation the night of the reception was actually a polite comment.

"Alfredo, what exactly does the other party mean?" Paulina's fine eyebrows furrowed slightly as she remembered Chris and Rawlins' familiarity.

"Paulina, are you trying to work with Chris?" asked Alfredo.

"Working together or not is another thing, the main thing is that he doesn't work with the Bartram Group, otherwise he's a big threat to us at the Leoz Group." That was what really worried Paulina. Alfredo also frowned, "Why don't I try to contact the other side and we'll see."

"The enemy's friends can be our enemies, so we might as well make them our friends." said Paulina.

At that, Mark laughed, "If it were that easy to turn enemies into friends, there would be no enemies."

He thought for a moment and continued, "Chris didn't want to work with the Leoz Group on the day of the reception, so don't get too genuine."

Paulina sighed, "I know."

Alfredo contacted someone from Chris' company and they told him that they had plans to work with Grupo Leoz, but they really didn't have time to meet and talk about it, and they needed Grupo Leoz to wait a little longer and that Chris would contact them when he was free.

"So it's true." Paulina's mouth curved into a grimace, "Do they really think the Leoz Group is easy to deal with?"

Alvaro frowned, "Clearly Chris was up to no good to begin with, just... have we offended him in any way?"

Alfredo thought hard, "No. The Leoz Group rarely offends anyone in business, let alone a company far away in Europe."

"Then what's going on?" wondered Alvaro.

Since Chris wanted to enter the domestic market, he should have chosen a large company with strong assets, and the Leoz Group was certainly the best choice.

But Chris had chosen the Bartram Group. Was the Bartram Group offering better terms, or did it have some kind of hidden deal with Rawlins?
