Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1438: Earlene's Shadow
When Alvaro got home, he went straight to the studio.
Marcos was in his studio, working on his play, and when he saw him return, he closed the papers in his hands and asked, "Is it over?"
"Well, it's over." Alvaro walked over to a side couch and sat down.
"Well?"
Alvaro pondered for a moment, "A bit of a strange woman."
"Strange?" Marcos was slightly surprised.
"More like a rather insincere woman." Alvaro stood up, approached him and continued, "As much as she talks about wanting to work with the Leoz Group, I don't sense her sincerity." Marcos was silent for a few seconds, "... And what did she say?"
"He said that he had his eye on the AI project and that he wanted to work with the Leoz Group. And that the percentage of profit given to Grupo Leoz is so high that, doing the math, JR doesn't make any money." At this point, Alvaro frowned, "So what's the point of him approaching us about working together?"
It really didn't make sense to collaborate on a project that was completely unprofitable.
"That's the deal you're offering Grupo Leoz?" asked Marcos.
"Hmm. Besides, he said that as long as we work together, we at Leoz Group call all the shots and we don't have to care about JR's opinion."
Hearing that, Marcos chuckled, with a hint of a question in his smile, "Is he planning to sell JR?"
"He's offering too good a deal, instead of making him feel weird." Alvaro said what he felt.
He honestly couldn't like that Blythe woman.
"The more generous the offer, the more problematic it is." Marcos said, "I have to wonder about JR's true intentions in wanting to work with the Leoz Group." "Brother, do you need me to send someone to check it out?"
"Check, make sure you get to the bottom of it." Marcos narrowed his eyes with a hint of danger, "I'd like to see what JR is selling."
"Don't worry bro, I'll find out." assured Alvaro.
...
Marcos returned from work to his room to find Paulina still awake.
"Why are you still looking at your phone?".
Paulina hurriedly turned off her phone, "I was watching the news and I forgot the time."
"What news is so good?"
"It's ..." Paulina opened her phone again and held it in front of her eyes, "It's Blythe."
Mark fixed his eyes on it and it was Blythe, his saber eyebrows furrowed, "Why are you looking at her?"
"Out of curiosity." Paulina ducked her head as she ran her finger over her phone, "I heard she wanted to work with the Leoz Group and I was curious to see what it was like. And I heard that he invited you to dinner tonight."
Saying this, Paulina looked at him, her eyes not displeased but with a slight smile.
"What are you trying to say?" Marcos raised an eyebrow.
"I think ..." Paulina deliberately interrupted herself and smiled slyly, "He's coming for you!"
Marcos froze, then reacted and burst out laughing, "You're imagining things again."
"I'm not imagining things." Paulina grabbed his hand, "My husband is handsome and wonderful, he is definitely missed."
"Is that what's bothering you?" Marcos asked.
Paulina shook her head, "It's not that it bothers me. I just don't want another woman like Earlene."
In the end, it was a case of once bitten, twice shy.
Since this Blythe was a bit like Earlene, both well-born and beautiful, I feared things would happen again.
"Earlene is dead." said Marcos in a low voice. And I've instructed Alvaro to find out what happened to Blythe."
Paulina furrowed her eyebrows, "I don't know if it's me, but I really see Earlene in Blythe."
"You, you're just imagining things." Mark sat up and reached up to gently caress her cheek, saying softly, "Even if Blythe really was another Earlene, I'd kill the idea of her and I wouldn't let her do a single harm to you or the baby." Paulina pursed her lips and smiled, "Well, I hope it's just me imagining things."
Perhaps it was the few articles she had read in the evening comparing Earlene to Blythe that were causing her to be so delirious.
"Well, stop thinking about it. Go to sleep."
Mark lowered his head and planted a soft kiss on her forehead, "Good night."
"Good night."
Paulina lay back down and Marcos tucked her in and looked at her softly, "Go to sleep." "Mmm."
Paulina closed her eyes and promptly fell asleep.
Marcos got up and looked at Paulina's peaceful face as she slept, her eyes slightly squinting.
Actually, Paulina wasn't the only one who had the illusion, he did too.
He too was seeing a reflection of Earlene in Blythe.
If Earlene hadn't been dead and buried, he really would have thought Blythe was Earlene.
Still, it was not something to be taken lightly.
JR or Blythe, he would find out what her intentions were.
...
The next day, Paulina woke up and Mark was no longer there.
She washed up, changed her clothes and went downstairs.
Sweety was eating breakfast and as soon as she saw her, she immediately jumped out of the girl's chair and ran to her. "Mommy, are you taking me to daycare today?" asked Sweety in a soft voice with her little face tilted upwards.
Paulina smiled and pinched her nose, "Yes."
"Great." Sweety clapped her hands in happiness. I
After breakfast, Paulina sent Sweety to kindergarten.
Because of Sweety's abduction, Marcos and Paulina had thought about moving the little girl from kindergarten. But Sweety didn't want to.
"I like the teacher and I like the other children, I don't want to change schools."
Desperate, Marcos and Paulina had to send someone to secretly protect Sweety.
When they arrived at the daycare, Paulina handed Sweety to the teacher, "It's been a hard day for you too."
Sweety's teacher also expected them to move Sweety to another school, but they didn't, much to her surprise but also relief.
The Leoz family was any kind of family, and if they had blamed the daycare for what happened then, she and the other teachers would have had to look for jobs again, I'm afraid.
The fact that they hadn't meant they were generous.
She was grateful too, so she treated Sweety better than before.
When she heard Paulina say "difficult," she was flattered and shook her head, "It's not difficult at all, it's what I have to do."
Paulina smiled, "Come on in. There's a driver coming to pick Sweety up this afternoon."
"Don't worry, I'll take care of Sweety."
With that said, the teacher turned and went inside, leading Sweety by the hand.
Paulina stood watching them walk away until they were out of sight before turning to her car and driving to the Leoz Group.
When she arrived, Marcos was still in a morning meeting and she quietly pushed open the door to the meeting room, standing on the threshold she could already feel the oppressive atmosphere inside.
She was quite impressed that the staff under Mark could withstand the pressure so well, and under Mark's powerful aura, they were still able to report their work in an orderly fashion.
