Love Comes To Me
Chapter 145: Not wanting to go back to the guard house.

"Mr. Rawlins, what did you say?" asked Blythe calmly, as if he hadn't heard.

If he recognized her, then she could deny it.

For it was nothing like what he had done before.

Rawlins looked back and saw an unfamiliar face, and disappointment crossed his eyes. "Mr. Blythe, I'm sorry, I lost my temper." Rawlins smiled apologetically.

Blythe mentally sighed in relief, but kept his smile and said, "It's okay."

"Have a seat."

Once they were both seated, Rawlins opened the door and stated the reason for his visit.

"Mr. Blythe, I'm here today to talk to you about a partnership between the two companies." Blythe smiled and nodded, "I know. But..."

He said with some regret, "I'm afraid I have to disappoint you, JR has no intention of working with the Bartram Group at this time."

"Why?" continued Rawlins, "Is it because of the Leoz Group, are you only interested in working with the Leoz Group?"

At the mention of the Leoz Group, the smile on Blythe's face visibly faded and his tone cooled. "Mr. Rawlins, you don't have the right to question who JR wants to work for, do you?". Rawlins then realized he had overreacted and hastily apologized, "I'm sorry. Seriously, I'd love to work with your company, so I'm quite anxious."

Blythe smiled and said nothing more.

Rawlins clenched the briefcase in his hand, he wasn't about to back down, he had to close the deal today no matter what.

So he shoved the proposal in front of Blythe and said excitedly, "This is the proposal I made."

Blythe looked up and met his expectant gaze, frowning slightly.

If she hadn't agreed to work together, he would have come back a second time, a third, and she wouldn't have given up.

She just wanted to avoid too much contact with him, so he wouldn't see what was coming.

"Well, let's see."

Blythe lifted the collaboration briefcase and examined it closely.

She looked at the collaboration and Rawlins looked at it for a moment, unable to take his eyes off her.

Feeling the heat of his gaze, Blythe stood up awkwardly and smoothed back the strands of hair that had fallen behind her ears before lifting her head. The moment she looked up, Rawlins thought she saw Earlene.

Momentarily stunned, she blurted out again, "Earlene."

Blythe became nervous, but it passed in an instant and she asked with a smile, "Mr. Rawlins, who's Earlene?"

Rawlins reacted to seeing that she had lost her temper again and smiled shyly before replying, "Earlene is my sister."

"Ah." Blythe nodded and hesitated for a few seconds before asking, "Do I look a lot like your sister? You've yelled your sister's name at me twice."

"No you don't." As much as she hated to admit it, she really didn't look anything like Earlene.

"Is that so?" Blythe shot him a look and lowered her head to continue reading the collaboration briefcase in her hand.

She was probably missing Earlene so much that she couldn't help but yell "Earlene" at him.

"But..." Rawlins suddenly spoke up.

Blythe's heart, which had gone out easily, rose again.

"There's something about your behavior that sounds a lot like hers."

Behavior? Very much like it?

Blythe frowned, no, she wasn't supposed to notice anything.

She looked up, a smile piled on her lovely face, "It will be a pleasure."

The face didn't look it, but the expression on her face did.

Rawlins laughed bitterly, "You're really not Earlene?"

Blythe lost her laughter, "I am Blythe."

"Yes, you are Blythe," Rawlins repeated as if to convince himself.

Blythe felt she really needed to see him less often or sooner or later it would be revealed that she was Earlene.

He looked at the collaboration briefcase in his hand and an idea occurred to him.

"Mr. Rawlins, I have finished reading it. The collaboration is terrific and I'm very impressed."

At that, Rawlins became excited, "Really, so you've agreed to work together?"

Blythe smiled, "Of course. But I'll have to trouble you to talk to my secretary about the details."

Anything she was asked, as long as they could work together.

Rawlins nodded busily, "Good."

"I have work to do, so wait a moment and I'll send my secretary."

Without waiting for Rawlins to say anything else, Blythe got up and walked out.

I don't know if it was an illusion, but she left in a bit of a hurry.

Rawlins breathed a long sigh of relief; at last, he could work with JR anyway.

Back in his office, Blythe's nerves relaxed and he plopped down on the couch.

Seeing this, Winston asked worriedly, "What's wrong?"

"It seems my brother has recognized me." Blythe hurried to sit up straighter, slightly agitated.

"Recognized you?" Winston couldn't help but laugh, "You're overthinking it. With your face so different from Earlene's, no one would know you were Earlene."

"The face is different. But the demeanor, the mannerisms, are hard to change, and I'm very afraid, afraid that it will be found out that I'm Earlene, and then I'll get in trouble."

She had managed to escape the law in the first place because she was dead, and once her true identity was revealed, the police would surely come after her again.

As she thought about it, she hugged herself, panic reflecting on her face.

No.

She didn't want to go back to that cold place.

It had been a long time since she had shown such a helpless, frightened expression, and Winston was so distraught that he came over to her and hugged her, whispering soothingly, "Don't be afraid. I'll help you with everything." Blythe looked at him, "Winston, I don't want to go back to the lockup."

Winston smiled, "No, you don't. That's not a place you'll ever go back to."

Blythe opened her arms around him and rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes to hide the panic she felt in them.

Yes, with Winston around, she'd be fine.

If he could save her once, surely he could do it a second time.

...

Rawlins had just signed a contract with JR with one foot, and the news reached Alvaro's ears with the other.

"Has JR really signed a contract with Rawlins?" Alvaro looked at the assistant who had come to deliver the news, a little unconvinced that JR would choose to work with the Bartram Group.

"Well, it was just signed." The assistant nodded.

Alvaro couldn't help but grimace, "This JR sure does work with the Bartram Group."

He then went to the president's office and told Marcos the news.

"Brother, what do we do now?"

What they had feared had actually happened.

"Let it happen." Marcos said calmly.

Alvaro remembered what he had told him earlier and rubbed his nose derisively, "Looks like I got too anxious again."

Marcos nodded: "Yes, indeed. That's to be expected, there's no need to get nervous. Besides, JR has just entered the domestic market and is not yet established, so, frankly, there is nothing to be afraid of. As for working with the Bartram Group

...

Marcos paused, "He's just another enemy."

Alvaro nodded, "Understood."
