Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1475: Jokes

Mark smiled slightly and put the box away, "The gifts are chosen, let's go back to bed." Paulina came out with the box in her arms and cautiously made her way downstairs.

"Paulina?"

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out around the silence, startling Paulina.

She looked up and saw that it was Mr. Juan.

She turned around startled and looked timidly at the box in her arms, her heart in her throat.

When Mr. Juan saw her back to him, he frowned, "What's wrong?".

Paulina's mind spun quickly and she said, "I couldn't sleep and got up to walk. Dad, why are you still awake?".

"I was thirsty and wanted to go downstairs for a glass of water."

"Ah, then you should go."

Mr. Juan was puzzled, came a little closer and asked shyly, "Paulina, what do you have in your hand?".

"I ... don't have it."

Paulina laughed dryly, grumbling to herself that she had gotten carried away and had come on the "treasure hunt" with Mark!

There you go...

It was true, however, that she and Marcos had been wrong about that.

She took a deep breath, turned around, lowered her eyes and admitted her mistake: "Dad, I'm sorry, we shouldn't have taken your stuff without your permission ...."

Her sudden apology caused Mr. Juan to look at her puzzled and completely confused as to what was wrong.

Paulina then took the box from his arms and opened it, revealing the paperweight inside.

At that moment, Marcos closed the door and came down from upstairs just in time to see the scene.

The corners of his mouth slowly turned up as he approached, "Dad, why are you still up?"

Sister John cocked an eyebrow, "Why are you taking Paulina to the morgue at this hour?"

Paulina continued apologetically, "Marcos told me it was the room you used to collect all kinds of antiques and that we shouldn't touch your things."

At those words, she looked at Sister John and found him all smiles and no sign of anger.

"Is that what Marcos told you?" asked Sr. Juan, taking the floor.

Paulina busied herself with a nod.

Mr. Juan lost his laughter, "He's pulling your leg. You can take whatever you want from that room. Besides, doesn't your grandfather have a birthday party? I asked Marcos to bring you here to pick out a present, I just didn't expect him to bring you in the middle of the night."

Was that true?

Paulina blinked and shot a puzzled look at Marcos.

Marcos made no sound as a faint smile played at the corner of his lips.

Would he dare say that he was really teasing her?

It was Mr. Juan who had specifically told Marcos to bring her here to pick out a gift, and she thought...

Paulina's face instantly turned red as she reacted, and in the end, she had made a joke!

Mr. Juan slapped Marcos hard on the shoulder, "Joking is also appropriate."

With that, he walked down the stairs with a smile.

"Thanks Dad."

Paulina looked at Sr. Juan's figure and after thanking him earnestly, she looked askance at Marcos and cried a little, "Why did you lie to me?"

"I didn't lie to you, actually that's the room where our father collects antiques."

"I know. I mean you made it sound so mysterious that I thought... thought you couldn't just walk into the room."

"Was that funny?"

I can't believe I asked that!

Paulina feigned annoyance and glared at him, "It wasn't fun at all."

With that, she ran into the room.

Marcos thought she was really angry and ran after her.

Paulina carefully placed the box on the dresser and turned around to go back to bed.

Somehow, Marcos came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, their bodies pressed together.

Marcos looked at her, "Are you really angry?".

Paulina looked away, "What do you think?"

"I'm sorry."

Hearing him apologize, Paulina couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Are you stupid, how could I be mad about that?"

Marcos lost his smile helplessly, "Then you ..."

"If you can make fun of me, of course I can make fun of you."

Before the words could leave his mouth, he lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.

Paulina slowly closed her eyes, the faintest hint of a sweet smile playing at the corners of her mouth.

...

The next morning, Paulina went downstairs to prepare breakfast.

As soon as she entered the dining room, Alvaro smiled, "Sister-in-law, I heard that you and my brother snuck into Dad's antique vault to get something...". Paulina looked at him in surprise, "How did you know?".

Alvaro lifted his chin with a proud face, "Is there anything in this house that I don't know about?".

At that moment, Mrs. Gloria came out of the kitchen with a bottle of milk and burst out laughing. "It was your father who spoke to me and I only mentioned it in passing." "He did?"

The corners of Paulina's mouth twitched, it was truly humiliating that something so humiliating was known to all.

She bowed her head and quickly made her way to her seat and sat down.

"Sister-in-law, did my brother tell you that that is the room where my dad hid his treasure and that not just anyone can go in there?".

Paulina looked at him and wondered, "How did you know that?"

"Because I've been lied too." Alvaro bristled, "He told me the same thing when I was little, then I got curious and snuck in, and by chance dad found out."

"And did Dad scold you?" Paulina was speechless.

"Not really." Alvaro shook his head. "Dad just rubbed my head and told me to be careful and not to break anything. Y ..."

His voice suddenly stopped and Paulina frowned unconsciously, "So what?"

"Sister-in-law, I'm afraid he'll be angry if he finds out ..."

"Let's say." He had said that, so she wanted to know even more.

"Then I'll say it." Alvaro took a bite of his sandwich, "Actually, quite a few of the antiques in the room were my brother's."

Paulina took a sip of her milk and nearly choked, coughing a couple of times before saying, "What did you say?"

Seeing this, Mrs. Gloria glared at Alvaro, "What are you doing talking to your sister-in-law about this? Have breakfast and get to work."

"Sister-in-law, don't be angry with my brother. Maybe everyone is too tense lately and he wants to tone it down... "Alvaro weighed his words, "everyone's mood." "I'm not angry."

She just felt humiliated... and wanted to find a crack in the ground.

Last night she had really taken it as a treasure hunt and had found it a bit exciting.

Who knew that, in the end, it was only Mark who was teasing her.

She couldn't imagine that Marcos, who was always calm as a mountain, would also tease her, and tears came to her eyes.

Marcos enters the restaurant, sees her calmly eating her toast and walks over to sit next to her.

Paulina turns her head and gives him a slightly disgruntled look.

Marcos frowns slightly and raises his eyes to look at Alvaro, only to see him chuckle with his head down.

"Alvaro, did you say something again?"

Alvaro, who had been named, hurriedly raised his head, coughed slightly to hide the laughter and asked again in a serious voice, "What's up?"

"He said that actually quite a few of those antiques are from your collection." said Paulina.

Marcos nodded, "Yes, what is it?".

"So you lied to me and said it was all dad's." Paulina looked at him with disdain.

"Almost everything is dad's."

"Brother, if you make fun of your sister-in-law like that, she's going to ignore you." Alvaro finished and couldn't help but laugh.

Paulina was instantly mortified and surreptitiously twisted Marcos' arm, "Look, it's your fault for making Alvaro make fun of me."
