Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1497: Is that Earlene?

Marcos looked at her and wiped the corner of his lips, "Don't eat so fast in the future because it will upset your stomach."

Paulina said, "I'm just hungry."

"And now?" Marcos feared he hadn't eaten enough.

"I'm not hungry anymore." Paulina leaned over and spread her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder. "It seems like it's been a long time since we've had this much quiet time alone together, other than sleeping." Mark reached up and stroked her soft hair, a slight smile tugging at the corners of his lips, "You've been so busy with work these past few days that you haven't bothered with me."

Paulina sniffed and giggled, "Why do I smell like vinegar?"

She lifted her little face.

She lowered her eyes slightly.

The two gazes met.

Paulina smiled with an arched eyebrow, "Are you jealous?".

Marcos didn't answer, but looked deeply at her.

"Is that a tacit acceptance?" Paulina raised her eyebrows.

His eyes lowered to her slightly parted red lips and a quick flash of darkness flashed across his dark eyes as he lowered his head and kissed her.

Sometimes Paulina thought they were an old married couple, but her heart still fluttered every time he kissed her.

The hands around her back tightened around his shirt and she slowly closed her eyes as his scent invaded all her senses.

She sank into him completely.

"Ahem!"

At that moment, the sudden sound of a cough startled Paulina to push Marcos away.

Marcos' brow furrowed and he looked slightly displeased.

"I didn't mean to upset you." Edgar held up his hands with a look of innocence.

Paulina's face was so red it was dripping blood, she lowered her head and her tone was slightly crude, "What do you want, cousin?".

It was... so humiliating to have to come at this time.

"I came to say goodbye to you, Edwina and I are going back to Kyoto today." Edgar said.

"So soon?" Paulina looked at him, "Don't you have more days to play?".

"There are still things at work I have to get back to." Edgar smiled at her, "When you're better, go back to Kyoto with the kids and Mark." Paulina nodded, "Good."

"Edwina didn't come while I was packing, she told me to tell you to make sure you take care of your health."

Paulina lost her smile, "Why do I find each of you treating me like a child? Tell Edwina thank you for me." "Hmm." Edgar shifted his gaze to Mark, "Mark, let's go outside and talk for a few minutes."

"I'll be right back." Marcos turned his head toward Paulina.

Paulina looked puzzled, "Come on, it's not that far out there, you don't need to tell me about it."

Marcos and Edgar walked out, one after the other.

Paulina took a deep breath, thinking she knew for sure they were going to talk about her.

She turned her head to look out the window, a slight sadness staining her forehead, wondering when it would be before the virus in her body was actually eliminated, so that they would stop worrying about her. Leaving the room, Edgar stopped, turned, looked at Mark and said, "Although Paulina's virus has been suppressed for the time being, there is no way to guarantee that it won't come back, so you have to put in the time." "Yes, I will." Marcos nodded.

"If there's anything you need help with, just ask." Edgar patted him on the shoulder, "I'm going."

"Take care of yourself on the way."

Mark watched Edgar walk away until his figure disappeared around the corner of the hallway, then turned to enter the living room.

"What did your cousin say to you?" asked Paulina as she saw him enter.

Mark walked over and sat down in the chair next to the bed, a slight curve to his mouth that seemed to be at the corners of his mouth, "He told me to look after you." Paulina frowned at this, "Cousin really, you're sure you'll take care of me, need I say it?"

"I was worried about you."

"I know. I was afraid they might get the wrong idea that you wouldn't take care of me." Paulina sighed softly, "I don't want them to get the wrong idea."

How good it was for her was something that probably no one else but her could truly feel.

Marcos chuckled softly, "They won't get the wrong idea."

Paulina pursed her lips and gave a soft "hmmm."

...

Alvaro handed the perfume to Almeida for testing.

It didn't take long for the results to come back.

Looking at the test report, Almeida and Sener looked at each other, both with serious expressions.

The door to the lab opened and Alvaro, who was waiting outside, saw Almeida and Sener come out and immediately got up to greet them.

"How did it go?" asked Alvaro eagerly.

Almeida handed him the report, "Second Prince, you read the report first."

Alvaro looked at them, then took the report and looked at it.

The chemical formulas it contained were a pain to read.

So he closed the report and looked at Almeida and Sener, "Tell me the results right away."

"The result is that the perfume does contain the same drug that was in Paulina's blood." Sener said.

"It's true." Alvaro was not shocked at all, he smiled coldly, "That Blythe is no good."

"Second Prince, how did that Blythe know about the virus in Paulina's body, when he thought we must be the only ones who knew about it? And does he also know about the use of drugs to induce the virus?" Almeida asked the question in his mind, it was the first thing that came to his mind when he received the test report.

That Blythe was really suspicious.

Alvaro nodded, "You are right to ask, I must find out what Blythe really is."

He thought of the inexplicable familiarity he had felt when he first met Blythe.

Maybe Blythe was someone he knew.

And he must really hate his sister-in-law.

Who else could fit those two criteria but Earlene?

But Earlene was dead.

Alvaro handed the report to Marcos and told him his analysis.

At the end he added: "Brother, Blythe couldn't really be Earlene, could she?".

Marcos, who was reading the report, raised his eyes and his gaze fell on her face.

Meeting Marcos' chilling, deep-set eyes, Alvaro continued, "I know it's probably too strange for me to think that, after all, Earlene was buried and the funeral was broadcast live at the time." Marcos looked away, "Now that you know, don't speculate."

"No, brother, don't you think it's all a bit too much of a coincidence?"

If Blythe wasn't Earlene, then who was she? How did he know about his sister-in-law?

After reading the report, Mark's eyes narrowed with a stern look, "It's a coincidence. But until there's proof, it's all guesswork."

He too was suspicious of Blythe's identity, but everything had to remain evidence-based.

"I understand. Don't worry, brother, I'll get to the bottom of this." Alvaro assured him.

"In addition to investigating it, I have to ask him face to face." Marcos' handsome face tightened and his dark eyes were grim and cold.
