Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1537: Villainy!
Bartram
Family.
The Rawlins had received numerous early morning phone calls from friends and family inquiring about the union.
Chris came over in the morning to discuss the partnership and asked in passing, "Why are you in such a hurry to get married all of a sudden? I hadn't heard anything about your dealings with The Chavez family in the capital, so I'm surprised." Rawlins poured a glass of wine and handed it to Chris, looking slightly helpless: "I didn't have the strength to get married, but my grandmother got out of the hospital! My sister's death hit her hard and she'd already been in the hospital, but now that she's recovered, she's worried that she's too old to have many years left to live, so she's making plans for my wedding ... It turns out that the elderly lady from The Chavez Family is a longtime friend of his, so that's how it came about." In her grandmother's words, she wanted to have a great-grandchild as soon as possible and didn't want to leave with regrets.
Chris took a sip of red wine and smiled, "It's a good compromise, The Chavez family is powerful enough, if you marry the lady of The Chavez family, the future Bartram family, will be more and more powerful ... only you shouldn't then You're not going to end our association, are you?".
Rawlins said, "Of course not! With marriage, the Bartram family is bigger, but so is our partnership and I look forward to our future collaboration."
The Leoz Group will always be their common enemy.
Chris smiled, "You seem like an understanding man. In that case, you have my blessing, and don't forget to buy me a drink at the engagement party."
He then raised his glass and clinked it with Rawlins'.
Rawlins replied, "Naturally, when you receive my invitation."
The two men sipped their drinks and in a few moments, Chris got up and left.
Rawlins was left alone in the office.
He had a smile on his face and his eyes were deep in thought.
After a moment, his eyes drifted to the family photo on his desk, looking at Earlene with a big smile inside, and he said softly, "In order to give you a better revenge, my brother needs to strengthen the family, and at the same time fulfill my grandmother's wish -- you would understand, wouldn't you?"
--
Blythe had mixed feelings when she learned that Rawlins was marrying the daughter-in-law of The Chavez family.
She was well aware of Rawlins' feelings for her and had always teased him before, unbothered, but when she found out he was marrying someone else, she felt a little bad.
"What, are you jealous?" asked Winston with a smile, seeing what was on her mind.
Blythe gave him a sidelong glance, "He's my brother, he used to only care about me as a sister, now he's married to another woman, he doesn't care about me anymore."
"You can't say that." Winston leaned back on the sofa and raised an eyebrow, "He would accept the marriage because he wanted to join The Chavez family and face The Leoz family together. In the end, it's still to avenge your death." "I should thank you then?" Blythe turned her head to look at him.
Winston nodded, "By all rights, yes."
"We'll talk about it later." Blythe lowered her head and said nothing more.
He didn't know how long it would be before he could face his family as they really were, so what was the point of talking about gratitude?
Still, if the Leoz Group had gone bankrupt a day earlier, he would have been able to reunite with his family.
"What's the situation there with Lisa now?" he looked at Winston.
Winston frowned slightly, "It's been a quiet couple of days, there's probably something going on."
"It might be easier to deal with Marcos now if Lisa can be helpful to us." Blythe said, "But I don't want to wait too long."
"Don't worry, I'm sure Lisa will bring us good news." Winston took her hand and, with a twist, asked, "Your grandmother is back, do you want to go see her?"
At the mention of Grandma Bartram, a flash of guilt spread across Blythe's face, "How can I go to see her in this state?"
The person she regretted most in her life was her grandmother.
To get revenge, she decided to fake her death and live under another identity.
But his grandmother really thought she was dead, and it would be a great shock to any old person to have white hair.
Winston looked at her silently, taking in her remorse and guilt, sighed and said, "I know you want to see him, now there's a chance, it's up to you if you want to go." Blythe frowned, "What opportunity?".
"Your brother's engagement party."
Winston pulled out an invitation and handed it to her.
Blythe took it and looked at it for a moment in silence before looking at him, "Go."
Winston nodded, "Okay."
Marcos had also received an invitation.
Alvaro looked at the invitation that had been tossed on the table and frowned, "Brother, what the hell does Rawlins mean? He's provoked us once or twice and now he sends us an invitation, is he sick?".
"He's not sick, he's trying to tell us that he has the help of The Chavez family and will be even less likely to put The Leoz family in his crosshairs." Marcos' eyes rested on the invitation, with a coldness in the corner of his eyes. Rawlins' mind was so clear that there was no need to guess.
"What a villain!" Alvaro made a scornful face.
There was silence in the room and no one said anything.
It was quite a while before Alvaro took the floor and asked, "Shall we go, then?"
Marcos narrowed his eyes and scoffed, "Why not? It's a good opportunity to see who he's got in his pocket."
...
"Are you sure you want to go?"
Paulina was a little surprised to learn that she was going to the engagement party.
After all, the Bartram family and The Leoz family hadn't even been at each other's throats for a day.
"Well, really."
Hearing an affirmative answer, Paulina frowned, "I think we'd better not go to ...."
"Don't worry." Marcos hugged her, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I know what you're worried about, the Rawlin's hate me, but they wouldn't dare do anything to me in plain sight." Paulina leaned against his chest and murmured, "I want to go too."
"But your body ..."
Although she had recovered a lot in the meantime, she was still a little weak.
"I'm fine." Paulina abandoned her embrace and clutched at his hand, "I want to be by your side."
Marcos laughed helplessly, "How could I not agree if you were saying that."
Paulina laughed and threw herself into his arms, "I knew you were the best thing for me."
Mark wrapped his arms around her and whispered, "Stay by my side and don't leave my sight." "Okay."
...
On the day of Rawlins' engagement, the party was beautifully decorated to showcase the status of the Bartram family.
Guests arrived one by one and the Rawlins stood at the entrance of the party to greet them.
When he saw Mark and Pauline, a quick flash flash passed through his eyes and he greeted them with a smile.
"Mr. Marcos, it's been a long time."
Marcos nodded his head with a nonchalant look on his face.
Rawlins was unimpressed and averted his gaze to Paulina standing next to him, "Mrs. Leoz, thank you for coming to witness such an important moment in my life." Paulina smiled back, "You should."
The meeting was expected to be tense, but it was not.
Perhaps because of the joy, the Rawlins seemed friendly, as if there had never been any bad blood or calculations between them.
"Inside, please." Rawlins stepped aside and let them in.
Rawlins watched their backs, the smile slowly disappearing from his face and a slight coldness rising in his eyes.
I thought Marcos wouldn't dare come.
How he underestimated himself to come to his engagement party with a clear conscience.
The thought of Earlene dead irritated Rawlins.
He clenched his palms and sulked. This time it was Mark who had sent him to his door, and he wasn't going to waste such a good opportunity.
