Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1540: Not being able to eat grapes and saying they are sour
At these words, Linda's face abruptly turned ugly and she quickly recovered as she fixed her makeup in the mirror.
Looking sideways at Paulina, who was standing next to her, she snorted, "You guys have such thick skin, how dare you come to this engagement party, don't you know that the guests here tonight are all from the Rawlins League?" Hearing that, she let out a laugh and turned around, resting her contemptuous gaze on Paulina's face, "I can't explain to myself how Marcos has been dropping lower and lower in class since he's been with you."
Paulina looked at her and replied in a casual tone, "I understand the mentality of not being able to eat grapes and saying they are sour."
Linda didn't understand the meaning of her words and turned pale, "What did you say?".
Paulina laughed lightly and said without panic, "I'm not as cheeky as you. If I remember correctly, when I told you to leave the country and not come back, right?".
He looked Linda up and down, "Now you're back and sticking your face out for someone to hit you. You're no good to me with that taunt."
With that, she tossed the paper towel she was holding to wipe off the water into the wastebasket and turned around to get ready to leave. "Paulina!" Linda rushed to block his path, annoyed.
She had come here to taunt that bitch, but in recent years she had become even more eloquent and had learned to respond to her with contempt. Paulina raised her eyes, her gaze cold, "Is there anything else?"
Linda snorted coldly, "Paulina, didn't you get Marcos because of your slutty prowess?"
"Heh." Paulina burst out laughing, "Whatever you say. I'm afraid people like you, who can't get it either way, just play tricks behind your back." There was sarcasm between the lines.
Linda was struck dumb for a moment and could only look at her angrily.
If eyes killed, Paulina believed she would be ashes by now.
"Linda, now that you're back, behave yourself. Otherwise, what happened then, who can say, won't happen again." warned Paulina in a low voice. "Haha..." Linda let out a laugh with disdain in her voice, "With you and Marcos alone?".
Paulina looked at her for a moment, laughed, said nothing and strided around her.
Not taking her seriously at all.
Linda clenched her fists, face of exquisite makeup livid with the hatred that had stained it, eyes cloudy.
Paulina returned next to Mark and asked quietly, "This engagement party is a little boring, can we go back now?"
"Of course." Marcos looked around, his eyes narrowed slightly, "The general purpose is clear, it would be a waste of time to stay any longer." Paulina took his arm and smiled, "Let's go back then."
Before getting off, Paulina called her chauffeur and asked him to bring the car to the hotel entrance.
...
Linda snorted and sat back down next to Chris, picked up the wine from the table and took a good swig in her mouth. "What's wrong?" Chris asked concerned when he saw how pale she was, "Is that Paulina stalking you?"
Linda gripped the glass in her hand so hard her knuckles turned white and gritted her teeth: "I'm not letting that bitch go!". "Come on, don't be mad." Chris slipped his arm around her shoulders, "I'm here, if anyone bullies you, we'll double back."
He said, his eyes glancing in the direction of the Marcoses and their group.
"Are they leaving this time?" Rawlins frowned as he watched Marcos and Paulina leave the ballroom.
Chris' mouth curved into a grimace, "Rawlins, come on, let's go see them off together."
"Huh?" Rawlins thought he'd misheard.
Chris took the initiative, got up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window at the side of the ballroom, from which the hotel entrance could be seen from an elevated point. "Didn't they say they were going to see you off? What brings you here?" asked Rawlins curiously as she approached him.
"Look."
Chris motioned for him to look down.
Rawlins followed his line of sight only to see Marcos and Paulina leaving the hotel and getting into a car parked in front of the door.
"I have a surprise for Marcos," Chris said.
Rawlins turned her head to look at him and raised an eyebrow, "Oh?"
Turning around, he smiled, "I'm looking forward to it then."
...
Once in the car, Paulina leaned back in the seat and let out a long sigh of relief, "We can finally go home."
Paulina yawned and leaned her body to the side, resting her head on Marcos' shoulder.
"Tired?" Marcos gave her a sidelong glance.
Paulina shook her head softly, "I'm not tired. Just bored."
Marcos took her hand, interlaced their fingers and whispered, "We won't be coming to these occasions again."
"Mmm." Paulina was silent for a few seconds before she spoke again, "Do you know who I ran into in the bathroom?" "Who?"
"It was Linda."
At the mention of Linda, Paulina frowns, "I can't believe I'm actually back in the country. But I don't think you remember her." "The truth is, I don't remember."
However, Alvaro had told her about Linda, so she knew very well that Linda was not a good person.
"Did she do something to you?" asked Marcos.
"No. I'm not the same Paulina I used to be, how could I be intimidated by her?" Paulina hugged his arm tightly and laughed.
Marcos laughed and turned his head, out of the corner of his eye he saw a car following closely behind him in the rear view mirror and his expression sank, "Driver, drive into a busy part of town." Suddenly, he ordered Paulina to sit up straight, "How can you tell the driver to drive downtown?".
Marcos turned his head and smiled at her, "Nothing, I just wanted to take a ride."
With those words, he took out his phone again and sent a message to Alfredo.
