Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1616: I will protect her
She froze for a couple of seconds before a strong thought rose in her mind, - Run!
She couldn't be caught or it would all be over!
Seeing that the bodyguards were all in front of her, she drew her legs and ran in the direction of the basement.
"Stop!"
"Stop her!"
As Earlene fled, the police officer shouted angrily at the bodyguards who were in the way, "Get out of the way, or you'll be guilty of obstruction!" The bodyguards were all trained by Winston and were considered deadly soldiers.
So, none of the bodyguards backed down and blocked the group of policemen directly in front of them, facing each other in a stalemate. The captain ordered at once, "Arrest them all!"
The villa was in chaos, but in the basement there was only the sound of panicked footsteps.
Earlene stood in front of a door, her fingers trembling slightly, but she entered the code very quickly.
Once the code was verified, face verification appeared on the electronic screen and Earlene immediately swiped her face.
Immediately afterwards, the door opened and she rushed inside, locking it behind her.
Luckily, Winston had planned for this situation before moving into the villa and had prepared this secret passage.
The combination lock was designed at Winston's expense and was very difficult to unlock, even for the police.
Once inside, Earlene was slightly relieved, but still in a panic.
Not daring to hesitate any longer, she hurriedly escaped through the secret passage.
Inside the villa's living room, all the bodyguards had been subdued and the few remaining police officers followed the route that Earlene had taken to escape. Soon, the door was found inside the basement.
A little annoyed, the captain said, "Find a way to break it immediately, and in addition, request backup to look for her around here."
...
Forty minutes later, the combination lock was finally broken.
But Earlene had already run out of sight.
The captain stepped out of the secret passage and called Hector, "Mr Hector, your information is correct, Blythe is Earlene, but, she ran away."
The captain gave a brief account of what had just happened.
Hector was not surprised, Winston could think of a way to fake her death to save Earlene, naturally he would think of other ways to leave a way out for Earlene. However, now that the fish had surfaced, he was in no hurry, he just spoke lightly, "Winston is still in the country, and Earlene won't get far."
"Understood, I'll put out an APB to apprehend her as soon as possible."
The captain was a little ashamed that Hector had given him a lead and the person was in sight, but he still let her escape.
After hanging up the phone, the captain instructed his officers again, "You go to Kyoto and bring Granny Bartram and Rawlins to City J."
"Yes, Captain."
After receiving the order, the policeman went straight to Kyoto and brought Granny Bartram and Rawlins to City J.
The captain looked at the two of them and said, "Gentlemen, I've asked you to come here because I need your cooperation with the investigation into Earlene."
"Earlene, how dare you mention my Earlene, if it wasn't for you, my Earlene would be dead!"
Because of Earlene's death, Granny Bartram had always been hostile to the police, and at this moment, she couldn't help but complain on the spot. "Please cooperate with the investigation."
Granny Bartram grunted coldly and did not intend to pay any attention to him.
The captain was used to such uncooperative people in this line of work and continued to ask, "Do you know anything about Blythe being Earlene?"
When Granny Bartram, who had been so insensitive, heard this, he was instantly confused and looked at the policeman standing in front of him in shock, "What do you mean, Blythe is Earlene? My Earlene is back? She's not dead?!" Granny Bartram said, grabbing Rawlins' arm in an excited manner, "Rawlins, did you hear that? He said, he said our Earlene isn't dead! Blythe is our Earlene, she's really back!"
Rawlins was a little confused too, no wonder, and no wonder he found Blythe familiar and treated her like Earlene.
Even under the alias Blythe, Earlene had returned to the Bartram family and visited herself and her grandmother often, did that mean she didn't blame herself anymore? Rawlins couldn't hold back his excitement at the thought, but, he didn't lose his cool like Granny Bartram did.
He looked to the captain and said, "Earlene is Blythe, are you sure about that? Or is it just a suspicion?"
"Positive."
The captain frowned, he was the one interrogating, how come it was Rawlins questioning him instead, he cleared his throat, "Mr Rawlins, you don't know Blythe's identity?" "No." Rawlins said with a sullen face.
If he had known, he wouldn't have left Earlene out there alone, even if he couldn't acknowledge her identity, he would have done well to keep the person safe.
"So what happened to your work with JR?" The captain asked again.
Rawlins grunted, "Normal business dealings, comrade police can look into it if they don't believe me."
"We'll look into it." The captain nodded his head.
Seeing that nothing could be asked from the two men, he didn't waste any more time, "It's been a hard day for Mr Rawlins and Granny Bartram to make this trip, so if there's anything, please keep us informed." Granny Bartram ignored him too, and seeing that it was time to go, immediately left with Rawlins.
"Stay close to them, Earlene must have followed these two closest people to get in touch if she hadn't left." The captain instructed in a low voice.
With that, a plainclothes policeman followed the duo.
...
When they returned home, Granny Bartram was very excited, her hand trembling slightly as she grabbed Rawlins and her eyes filled with tears, "Rawlins, our Earlene is back!"
"I don't know how much Earlene has suffered out there, she doesn't even dare to recognise us, how aggrieved she must be, and she has taken such a big risk to come and see me so many times, it's me, an old woman who is useless, I can't even recognise my own granddaughter... "
"
Rawlins heart also followed the hard feelings, Granny Bartram said, why did he not think.
"O Rawlins, you must find Earlene before the police find her, bring her back and hide her." Granny Bartram looked at Rawlins hopefully.
Rawlins knew full well how serious the consequences would be if Earlene was caught again this time for several crimes.
He nodded solemnly, "Granny, I know that, Earlene is my sister and I will protect her."
