Love Comes To Me
Chapter 230: Beware the Lawson Group

Ten minutes earlier, she had messaged Hector Rogers to pick him up later, she had a planning project to work on.

Now I had to attend an appointment on short notice and had to send another message to Hector Rogers.

Hector Rogers saw another message from Eloise Thompson and had thought she was going to tell him that she had changed her mind and was going to ask him to pick her up early from work again. As a result, this time, she said she would be home late and didn't need him to pick her up.

And this side.

Eloise Thompson came downstairs and was a little surprised to see Egbert Chumley actually waiting downstairs, "Egbert, what are you doing here to pick me up?"

Egbert Chumley smiled warmly and pulled the passenger seat for her, "Surely to meet with my rival you have to show a little good faith."

When they arrived at the restaurant, Egbert Chumley pulled out his chair in a gentlemanly manner and watched her sit down before he followed.

He knew exactly what Eloise Thompson liked to eat, and he didn't have the decency to let her order.

Egbert Chumley looked at the menu after ordering and was more than satisfied.

Halfway through the meal, Egbert Chumley pulled out a carefully wrapped gift box and handed it to Eloise Thompson.

Eloise Thompson froze and didn't take it, saying shyly, "I can't take a gift from Egbert without getting something for it."

With a smile, Egbert Chumley offered to open the gift box, which contained a simple but unpretentious bracelet.

"I saw it abroad and thought you'd like it. You'll just have to take it." He added, "It was bought for a dozen pounds, it's not expensive."

Seeing how insistent he was, Eloise Thompson hesitated for a moment, thinking it was a token of Egbert Chumley's goodwill, and after ascertaining that the bracelet was indeed not expensive, she accepted it. "I'll take the gift, but I'll have to pay for it later." She really didn't want to owe Egbert Chumley.

Egbert Chumley was delighted to see her take it.

He was about to say something else when a dish came up that Eloise Thompson loved.

He greeted her to hurry up and eat, and pressed on without mentioning it.

Eloise Thompson took a slice and put it in her mouth as Egbert Chumley asked her with a few moments of anticipation, "Is it good?"

She nodded her head.

Between meals, the two had a good conversation and somehow managed to get to the project.

Eloise Thompson took the opportunity to ask, "Egbert, I wonder how much you know about Exley's products?"

Egbert Chumley stopped short and asked her rhetorically, "You can't say that. What? Is this your way of trying to spy on the military?"

At that, Eloise Thompson smiled helplessly, "Egbert, you're not afraid of losing to me, are you?"

Egbert Chumley's planning skills are, to say the least, at the top of their game.

She had only been joking. Who would have thought that he would nod his head in utmost seriousness?

"It's kinda scary, Eloise, you are unaware of what the industry is saying about you right now."

Eloise Thompson is curious about what the industry has to say about her.

"The JS Group has only been around for a few months, but thanks to you, you've won some big projects and are already at the top of the game." Egbert Chumley has a look of appreciation in his eyes, "When they hear your name, they are scared to death."

"How can you exaggerate that?" Eloise Thompson is naturally unconvinced.

Egbert Chumley seemed to have thought of something and he showed some concern, "By the way, did you know that Owen Planners is part of the Lawson Group?"

Eloise Thompson nodded; naturally she wanted to know the competition.

"And do you know who is in charge in Irvine now?" Egbert Chumley reminded, "It's Reeva Lawson."

Reeva Lawson?

Eloise Thompson frowned, having met Reeva Lawson a few times, she sensed that Reeva Lawson was hostile to her.

In fact, it's not hard to figure out that Reeva Lawson likes Hector Rogers and anyone can see that.

Another rival in the industry and a powerful love rival in the love field, the fight with Ole is feared to be fierce.

Egbert Chumley informed Eloise Thompson of what he had pried out, "I'm not that keen on this project, actually. However, you have to be careful with the Lawson Group." The word is out in the industry that the Lawson family has put a lot of resources into this project and is well on its way to winning.

Eloise Thompson is surprised that a business as big as Lawson Group, with a project the size of Exley, should not care much. Is...

She dreaded to think that this Lawson Group could not be targeting herself, could it?

Eloise Thompson put this absurd idea behind her, thinking she didn't have the weight to let the Lawson Group come after her. Egbert Chumley was worried for her and he knew that Eloise Thompson cared about the project.

When he was worried, Eloise Thompson said, "It's fine, I'll do what I can."

It was getting late and the two of them had almost eaten, so she got up and prepared to go back.

"Eloise, wait, I'll take you back." Egbert Chumley was not comfortable with her going back alone.

Eloise Thompson didn't want to bother him any further and said firmly, "My house is nearby, I'll just go back myself."

Egbert Chumley wasn't surprised that he had gone to her previous flat to wait for her, but had floundered.

It turned out that she had moved, and his heart flushed with a little bitterness, and he did not insist.

Eloise Thompson had just left the restaurant when Egbert Chumley called her back, "In a few days, Exley is hosting a party at the Oriental Hotel."

"How do you know?" Eloise Thompson was overjoyed, this was great news, she was worried about not being able to plan it perfectly and the opportunity came to her door.

Egbert Chumley handed her the business card of the head of their company, "You can contact him if you want to go."

Eloise Thompson was overjoyed and thanked her repeatedly.

"Eloise, you and I don't have to be so polite to each other." In fact, the more polite she was to her, the more he felt the two were too rusty.

His change of mood was not noticed by Eloise Thompson, who thanked her again and called a taxi back.

Back at the flat, she entered the door by entering the code, only to see the living room brightly lit.

"Auntie Eloise, Solomon misses you so much."

Solomon had been waiting for her to return and when he heard the movement, he leapt off the sofa and into her arms.

"You're back." Hector Rogers had, at some point, come up beside her as well.

She had long since seen that a small group of them would be waiting for her at home.

Eloise Thompson made her way to the kitchen out of habit and opened the fridge before asking as an afterthought, "Have you guys eaten yet?"

Solomon rushed ahead of Hector Rogers and said, "Not yet, Auntie Eloise, Solomon's hungry."

When she heard this, she snapped slightly, "How can you be so negligent, Hector, when Solomon is so young?"

Hector Rogers darkened his face with innocence.

They had obviously eaten long ago and he gave Solomon a serious look, "Solomon, can children lie?"

Solomon beamed and admitted his mistake honestly, "Actually Solomon and Daddy have eaten, has Auntie Eloise eaten?"

Eloise Thompson's heart warmed when she saw that Solomon was concerned about her even after admitting his mistake, and she couldn't help but stroke his head. Hector Rogers hugged Solomon, worried that she was tired from a long day at work, "Busy at work?"

She nodded, having really worked hard on Exley's planning lately.

"How did you fix dinner?"

Hearing Hector Rogers press the issue, Eloise Thompson replied without thinking, "It was with Egbert." "Hmm?" Hector Rogers' gaze was full of inquiry and his face was condensed.
