Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 248: Camping
Reeva Lawson is a pampered and spoilt daughter, but she was already panting after a short climb.
She stared in disbelief at Eloise Thompson, who was really from a small family, no wonder she was so quick on her feet. "Solomon, slow down!"
The path is winding but paved with stone slabs on the way up.
The road wasn't too difficult and Solomon was greedy and ran as fast as he could.
Eloise Thompson was worried that he might accidentally fall if he was running fast and was too nervous to be distracted as she followed him.
Hector Rogers followed in amusement, also watching Solomon as closely as she did.
By the time he reached the halfway point of the climb, Solomon's strength had run out.
He paused, his forehead covered in sweat.
At Solomon's age, the slightest bit of activity would have made a mess of sweating all over his face.
The wind on the mountain, very strong.
Eloise Thompson hurriedly took a clean towel out of the rucksack she was carrying and wiped it off for Solomon.
"Solomon do as you're told and walk slowly later." She moved her hands quickly, afraid that if she slowed down a little, Solomon would catch a cold.
By the time Eloise Thompson had finished wiping all the sweat off his face, Solomon was in her arms, pouting, "Mummy, you can carry Solomon up the hill, Solomon can't walk anymore." She gave Solomon a doting look and bent down, ready to pick him up.
Suddenly a hand came across the room and picked up Solomon before she could.
Eloise Thompson turned her head sideways to see that it was Hector Rogers who had picked up the hold and said, "I'll do it."
"You're tired too, let's rest for a while." Hector Rogers, seeing that she was also tired but still trying to be brave, took Solomon in his arms without saying a word and pulled her to sit on a rock aside. Reeva Lawson, who was merely trying to keep up with them, saw that they had finally stopped and found a place to sit not far behind them.
Those eyes were full of resignation and cynicism.
And by this time, Rupert Rogers and the others had long since climbed to the top of the hill.
Rupert Rogers, seeing that Hector Rogers had not followed them, looked down just in time to see Reeva Lawson glaring sulkily at Hector Rogers and the others.
He just felt a headache and couldn't help but curse, "Look at what's going on here, what are you doing calling Reeva Lawson for?"
"Mr Rupert, where did we know she was coming with us." They were heckled and their hearts were suffocated.
There are just a few places for people in their circle to meet.
It is clear that they were overheard by Reeva Lawson while they were discussing it.
Rupert Rogers said no more and sighed heavily, so he had to take a few more steps up the hill and find a suitable place to set up camp.
And Eloise Thompson, resting halfway up the hill, sidled up to Solomon and asked, "Solomon, can you still walk now?"
Solomon nodded as he pranced to his feet and energetically made his way up the stairs.
Hector Rogers and Eloise Thompson exchanged a smile and followed Solomon left and right.
They were also nearing the top of the mountain and, considering Solomon's young age, they walked and talked and laughed as they climbed up the mountain. It was a little over half an hour later that they reached the top of the hill.
Rupert Rogers saw them coming up and bumbled over, "Brother, sister-in-law, that biggest tent, it's for you."
Eloise Thompson looked in the direction he was pointing and not only marvelled, she hadn't expected Rupert Rogers to move so quickly with them.
Five or six tents have been set up on the hilltop.
She gave a thank you to Rupert Rogers and was about to ask them if there was anything she could do to help when she was pulled into the tent by Hector Rogers. "Take a break." Hector Rogers said in a near-command.
Eloise Thompson glanced at a tired Solomon and nodded.
And by now, outside the tent, Reeva Lawson had also climbed to the top.
As soon as Magen Gillim saw Reeva Lawson, whose forehead was covered in sweat, he approached her attentively.
"Here." He handed the bottle of water in his hand, to Reeva Lawson, and even more so, pointing to a tent not far away, "That tent is reserved for you." Reeva Lawson has met Magen Gillim a few times and knows him quite well.
She was not polite and simply took his water, unscrewed the lid and took a few sips in quick succession.
Reeva Lawson sipped her water while her eyes looked everywhere.
She could faintly hear the sounds of Eloise Thompson laughing with Solomon and the occasional low chuckle from Hector Rogers.
Reeva Lawson was lost, said "thank you" to Magen Gillim and turned around.
"Reeva ..." Magen Gillim tried to call out to her, but she was already far away.
He looked at her forlorn back, lost in thought.
What's so great about Hector Rogers and why doesn't Reeva Lawson want to give up when there's someone else around?
The vague look of adoration that floated in Magen Gillim's eyes was quickly replaced by a strong sense of loss.
In the tent.
Eloise Thompson smiled dotingly as she cradled Solomon, who had fallen into a deep sleep in her arms.
Hector Rogers naturally took the Solomon from her arms and gently laid it flat on the padded cushion that had been laid out.
"Eloise, do you want to get some sleep too?" He was a little distressed to see that Eloise Thompson had been staying with Solomon and hadn't bothered to rest.
Eloise Thompson shook her head and took a sip of water, "I'm not tired, so I'll stay up. Let's go out and see what we have to do to help."
She was up and Hector Rogers followed her out.
"Sister-in-law, brother ... come on over!" Rupert Rogers, grill in hand, saw them coming out and called them over. Eloise Thompson and Hector Rogers shared a smile and wondered, "I didn't think Mr Rupert would get a barbecue." Rupert Rogers heard from afar, "Sister-in-law, I don't just know how to set up a barbecue, I know how to grill!"
The guys helped out and soon the barbecue was set up.
Around the barbecue, a variety of ingredients are also placed.
Eloise Thompson thought they all knew how to grill when she saw how well prepared they were.
Rupert Rogers can't do it alone, and these boys are too spoilt to do it themselves.
A group of people pushed and shoved, and in the end only Boden Fay and Sheena Felt were pushed out.
"I'd better go and help." With so many people coming, the three of them were definitely too busy and Eloise Thompson volunteered to go up and help.
She hadn't taken more than a few steps when her hand was taken by Hector Rogers, and she glanced sideways in confusion, only to hear him say quietly, "Walk with me somewhere else."
Her hand was held tightly in his as Reeva Lawson stared unblinkingly, biting her mouth to death, and even more gamely turned away.
And Hector Rogers took Eloise Thompson, found a secluded spot and sat down.
"You really know how to find a place." Eloise Thompson was in such a good mood that she couldn't help but compliment Hector Rogers. Hector Rogers, seeing her so happy for the first time, sat quietly watching.
"Why do you keep looking at me?" Eloise Thompson was embarrassed by the way she was looking at her.
"What? Still not giving a look?" Hector Rogers asked her with a scowl.
