Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 432: Insignificant People
On the other side, Rupert had finally managed to deal with most of the people just now, and a good number of the rest were lesser-known companies that didn't need to deal with themselves. He let out a long breath, a small venting of sorts.
However, he was really unhappy with the party Hector's mother had prepared, and what the hell was the rush to find a daughter-in-law about?
Besides, the way things are going, it's not like he's looking for a wife, it's like he's looking for discomfort.
After all, it was his own mother, so he could only resent her in his heart and that was fine.
Eloise, who was looking for Solomon, happened to see Rupert with a sad face and asked, "What's wrong? I don't know who's messing with you." Rupert raised his eyes and grinned reluctantly.
Then he went back to his bitter look, "Someone has really messed with me, and I don't dare have a problem with that person."
This intrigued Eloise, who was so powerful that even Rupert didn't dare to make an issue of it.
Before Eloise could say anything, Rupert himself said, "Don't guess, it's our mother, who keeps me busy with one more thing." Eloise couldn't help but snicker, "You'll have to suffer, I'm off to find Solomon, come on."
Seeing how quickly his sister-in-law had changed her face, Rupert looked helpless, and his resentment grew.
He couldn't understand what his mother was thinking, as she already had a good daughter-in-law, but she wasn't satisfied.
It was unbelievable that a second daughter-in-law had to come along.
At this point, Rupert looked up and saw that most of the celebrities were chatting together and no one was specifically looking for him. So he snuck away when no one noticed him ...
Having finally left that place of right and wrong, Rupert felt his ears clearing up.
The sound of birds chirping outside was more pleasant than the noise inside. Casually walking around the courtyard, he was surprised to see a familiar figure.
It was Aisly.
She was standing there alone, seemingly afraid to wander off for fear of getting lost, just staring at the flower in front of her.
Thinking that she had not come out to see her off before, a nameless fire sprang up in Rupert's heart.
He wanted to walk away, but at that moment, Aisly also turned her head and looked at her, so he couldn't leave even if he wanted to. After all, it was in his own home, so Rupert had to walk over to her, "What a coincidence, you're here to enjoy the flowers too."
Aisly wondered if the person in front of her was really Rupert.
After all, he had hit on many beautiful women, so he wouldn't have used such a clumsy opening line.
But since he had said so, Aisly had no choice but to continue, "Yes, but there aren't many flowers here."
Rupert was pleased that she was paying attention to him and said, "They're not here, this one's a wildflower.
I don't care if Aisly said yes or no, he took her hand and went to the backyard.
Somehow, a thin layer of sweat had formed on both of their hands.
Rupert was worried that it might be awkward when they met again, but now it seemed he had overthought it. Rupert dragged Aisly to the back garden.
There were a lot of expensive flowers, many of which Aisly had never seen before.
"These flowers are so beautiful." Aisly couldn't help but say.
"Then let's stay here and watch them for a while."
Rupert said as he went to bring two stools under the eaves over there and set them up before gesturing for her to sit down. The moon was sparse, and the soft moonlight was bordered by bits of starlight, not much but beautiful enough.
The dew glistened in the moonlight, and the birds in the house occasionally chirped to tell of the silence of the moment.
When Aisly says she wants to enjoy the flowers, she really is enjoying them in peace and quiet.
She put her hands on her cheeks and turned her head to look at the flowers in the garden, fascinated by them. But Rupert, who suggested the flowers, was already distracted.
His attention was focused on the side of Aisly's face.
The two of them were not far apart, so he could see the slightest expression on her face.
It was this total lack of pretense that made him feel somehow tantalised...
The two of them were chatting in the backyard for two hours before they knew it.
The celebrities couldn't see Rupert, but pretended to be reserved and pretended that nothing had happened.
They went along with the flow of the party, clinking glasses absentmindedly.
After all this time, the party was almost over and some people had already started to leave.
Hector's mother, unsure of herself, came down to take a look, only to find that Rupert was nowhere to be seen.
Furious, she called Rupert directly and shouted in a stern voice, "Why don't you come back quickly, everyone is almost gone."
Rupert said, "I've lost track of time, I've been so absorbed in watching, I've rushed over with Aisly.
When they reached the door, Aisly refused to go in.
Rupert was puzzled, "You're here for the party too, it's okay to go in."
"I won't go in, most of them have gone back anyway, and I'm just an insignificant person."
Aisly finished and turned around to leave.
Rupert was going to keep her, but then he thought about it.
Now that he had to see his guests off, he would not have much time for her, so it would be better to let her go.
"I'll ask the driver to drop you off, I don't feel comfortable with you alone." Rupert said with a frown.
Aisly's advancing footsteps visibly paused for a moment before finally turning around, "No, I'll just take a taxi myself, thank you for today...." Rupert was about to ask what exactly he was thanking him for, but before he could ask, Aisly was already running away. What a strange woman.
Seeing that she was gone, Rupert returned to the ballroom.
Aisly ran away for a few hundred metres and turned her head to look at Rupert.
Only to find that he was long gone from where he had been, and she turned her head away a little lost.
As soon as she returned to the ballroom, she saw Hector's mother sitting on the sofa with an angry look on her face.
"Where have you been boy, leaving these little girls out to dry, what a thing to do."
Seeing his mother's anger, Rupert rushed to make up an excuse, "I've just had too much to drink and I went out to sober up.
It wasn't long before I went out and you called me in."
The way he looked, Hector's mother didn't believe him, but after all, she hadn't seen him with her own eyes, so she had to let it go. "You go and see them off first, and I'll get back to you later."
