Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 532: Why She Should Turn Herself In!
After listening to Marian's plan of action, Agnes' furrowed brow gradually lifted and she planned to go to Josh first thing the next morning.
During the night, rain finally fell in the North District after a day of overcast clouds.
The rain gradually turned louder and louder, as if it were pouring down, with thick drops of rain that crackled and slapped haphazardly onto the ground with a crisp clatter. The air is heavy with dusty scents that make the heart grow restless...
The rain, which had been falling all night, stopped at the early sunrise.
The sky was broken by a red light and the murky air became a little fresher.
Josh got up early in the morning and when he came downstairs, he met the house maid who came over at regular times to clean the house and greeted him respectfully, "Sir is up." Josh nodded and gestured for the maids to continue their work.
For himself, he put on a coat and walked slowly outside the house.
Josh now lives in a small townhouse in the suburbs.
The peaceful surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle of the area, are perfect for a retreat.
He refused Eloise's offer to have someone take care of the house and only had someone come over every so often to clean it.
So on weekdays, he is the one who stays here alone.
There are few people nearby and the place is empty.
To give himself something to do, Josh has cleared a patch of land in front of his door to grow flowers and plants.
He also bought a parrot from a bird market to keep himself company.
When I'm bored, I water the flowers and play with the birds, so it's a leisurely life.
Leaving the parrot's cage open, Josh was beaming.
Hold out a few fingers and call out to the parrot inside.
"Hachi, come, come out."
The black feathers twitched and the parrot's small eyes rolled round a few times as he repeated Josh's words, "Come out, come!" Obediently, he jumped out and came to a steady stop on Josh's shoulder.
"Ay, good boy, good boy!"
Stroking the parrot's little head, Josh smiled amiably.
A man and a bird walk over towards the flower garden.
And Agnes, not far away, took in the scene, her eyes, with a complex look.
She opened the door of the van and walked towards Josh.
From a distance, shouted, "Dad."
Josh was bending over, taking the plastic wrap off the cover over the flower beds, when he faintly heard a familiar call. Subconsciously, he looked up and ahead.
In the next second, his body jolted.
He looked at Agnes in disbelief, as if his blood had frozen.
There are mixed feelings in the mind.
He mumbled his dry lips, his rough palms reaching forward, "Is that Agnes?"
Because of the overwhelming surprise, the voice was lowered with a hint of huskiness.
He thought he was hallucinating.
"It's me, Dad, it's Agnes, I'm back."
Agnes ran over and hugged Josh.
She pinched herself hard in the dark, holding back the redness of her eyes.
Touching body heat, Josh could practically feel that this was not a dream.
First he was ecstatic, a smile on his face.
Taking Agnes' hand, she surveyed her daughter's face, her fingertips trembling slightly, "It's good to be back, it's good to be back."
A boulder that had been weighing on his chest fell a little.
Blood is thicker than water, and although she knows that Agnes has done bad things, she still loves her daughter with all her heart. The days when Agnes disappeared, he found near despair.
There were times when the worst was envisaged, when perhaps the youngest daughter would never return.
Today, he almost cried tears of joy at seeing Agnes standing properly in front of him.
But, looking at Agnes' face, he couldn't help but think of Eloise again.
The past came back to him one by one and it was painful.
Pressing the corners of his eyes, he forced himself to calm down.
A hint of seriousness emerged on the kind face.
He grabbed Agnes by the shoulders, wanting to say something.
This switched mood also fell on Agnes' eyes.
Squeezing out a few tears, Agnes admitted her mistake with a sobbing voice, "Dad, I know what you're going to say, I was wrong about the past, I did a lot of wrong things, during these days when I was running away. I am also acutely aware of my mistake, so I have come back and come back to apologise to you, I am sorry... dad, it was my daughter's fault!"
Within moments, he was even covering his eyes and howling in mourning.
A few tears snapped down, hitting the back of Josh's hand and into his heart even more.
There was a time when Agnes would come forward and admit when she had done something wrong.
He took Agnes' hand in his heart and said dully, "It's good that you know you're wrong, Agnes, you really did a lot of things you shouldn't have done before, and in the future you don't..." Agnes rubbed her eyes and grasped Josh's hand in pain, interrupting his words.
"Dad, I know, I just missed you and Mom this time, so I came over to see you, and I promise I'll never do anything bad again, you can trust me."
Sniffling a few times, Agnes looked at Josh with pity.
Josh sighed, looking at his daughter, who was crying like a kitten, and nodded his head in disbelief.
"Never mind, let's go in first, you come with me."
Spurring the cleaning aunt out, Josh looked around warily and ushered Agnes into the house.
Pouring her a glass of warm water, Josh sat down beside Agnes before persuading her at length. "Agnes, let's turn ourselves in, it's the only way you can reduce your sentence!"
Josh had a stony expression on his face as he looked cautiously at his youngest daughter.
He couldn't bear the thought of Agnes going to prison either, but she did do too many bad things.
Agnes wiped her tears away with a start and a slight change of expression.
Hearing the word surrender made the heart and liver tremble.
She doesn't want to go to jail, not even to die!
The rest of his eyes glanced over to Josh and ticked off a flash of hate.
The father who used to love him has really changed, and now he is so enchanted by Eloise that he doesn't care about them, mother and daughter, and wants to send her to prison with him. At the moment, she was no less furious than the moment she knew her mother had been arrested.
She hates Josh, and she hates Eloise even more.
She's not at fault, so why turn herself in!
The moment she raised her eyes, the ruthlessness beneath them was hidden from her as she responded in a low voice, "Dad, you're right, I promise you, turn myself in." Pretend to be a good boy.
Josh sniffed and was suddenly relieved.
He'd just been worried that Agnes would go negative and leave.
This was a great relief for Agnes.
"Agnes, you've really grown up, Daddy is so relieved, don't worry, Daddy will find the best lawyer for you even if he's got all his money."
In Josh's opinion, the always brutal Agnes has grown sky-high to make it this far.
His guard was lowered with it.
It wasn't that she couldn't see the emotion in Josh's eyes, and Agnes smiled bitterly.
Following a change of subject, Josh begged, "Thanks Dad, but before I go and turn myself in, can I have dinner with you, I'm so hungry and haven't had a full meal at home for a long time."
