Love In Between -
Chapter 95
A few weeks later: 7 July
These last few weeks have been totally crazy. Between the wedding preparations and the presentation for the launch of the new pharmaceutical products I have been without time. I just hope this night will pass soon and I can start my new life with Gael in two days.
-You look beautiful, honey. – My future husband complimented me as he finished placing the gold earring in front of the mirror.
-Thank you so much, do you really not want to go with me tonight? – I insist.
He stands behind me and slowly puts his strong arms around me as he rests his chin on my shoulder. -Maybe I’ll come later, but I don’t want to ruin your performance with my presence. You’ve worked so hard for this and you’ve also had to put up with that jerk for weeks. – He explains, making me smile.
-Okay, but you already have the address in case you decide to come earlier,” I insist.
-Yes, I know…” he whispers and with his hands he starts to caress my abdomen, “It’s already a bit more noticeable” he comments enthusiastically.
-There are two of them, it’s normal that it’s more noticeable even though I’m only nine weeks old. – I explain as if I were a child. -Now, if I may… I really have to go. I know everything must be ready by now, but you know I’m a perfectionist. – I explain and when I see him, he is smiling broadly.
-I know, you and I are the same in that. Now go, shine as only you know how and I’ll see you later, okay? – He encourages me.
-Thank you, I love you. – I reply, turning around and kissing him. -I’ll miss you…” I confess and he k****s me again.
-I’ll miss you, but go and shine,” he reiterates and that’s all I needed to gather my strength and leave our flat for the launch of the product line.
[…]The whole place is perfectly decorated in the company’s colours, the stage is already set with a giant screen in the background and I am more nervous than ever about having to be in charge of presenting the whole advertising campaign in front of the executives, investors, and as if that wasn’t enough, all the general managers of the different offices around the world who will be watching the presentation virtually.
-Don’t be nervous,” Joel encourages me.
-What if I get it wrong? It’s one of the biggest campaigns we’ve ever done,” I comment nervously.
-Trust you, everything will be great. Now go and tell them everything we’ve practised and you’ll get a standing ovation. – He comments and I can only hug him with all my strength.
-I don’t know what I would do without you, you have always been at every key moment of my life. – I tell him without letting go.
-I’m happy being with you, but now come on… people are waiting for you. – He exposes, bringing me back to reality and I can’t but take the courage to let go and go to the stage.
-Wish me luck. – I ask him as I walk away and his smile says it all.
-Thank you, I love you. – I scuffle, handing him the glass and I tip it. -I confess and he bases it again.
-I to you, I will stop and shine… – I will scrape and I will do all that was necessary to be able to take the strength and to leave from our floor towards the launching of the line of products.
[…]The adrenaline I feel at the moment can’t be taken away by anything. To have made that presentation was one of the most important moments in my professional life, and to have been applauded as I was was was something I definitely didn’t expect. Mr. Garcia was extremely satisfied with the results and immediately proposed that my agency would be in charge of all his company’s campaigns from now on, and even though I know that this will mean having to cross paths with Pedro from time to time, I couldn’t refuse. The opportunities this will bring for me are too great to turn him down.
The atmosphere has completely transformed, the lights have dimmed, the DJ has turned up the volume, and the guests begin to gather around the different bars in different parts of the venue.
-Shall we toast?” His voice interrupts me from behind and when I see him I deny.
-Thank you, but no…” I reply to Pedro.
-It’s not alcohol, I know very well that you can’t drink,” he insists and brings the glass closer again, “We should toast to your success,” he encourages me and after thinking about it for a few minutes; I end up accepting. -To the incredible publicist and your success.
-To being able to carry out this project despite our differences. – I propose and clink my glass with his and then drink the fruit juice he has brought me.
