Love in Twilight novel (Clarissa and Damien) -
Chapter 202
Chapter 202 Nagging Damien was already up. He was speaking to someone on the phone, saying he would be absent from work that day.
"Hubby, Mom made an herbal infusion for you. Drink up." Clarissa put the herbal infusion on the bedside table, and then touched Damien's forehead. It was still a little hot.
"I don't want to drink it!" Damien snarled.
"Why not? Brewing it was a lot of hassle. Mom had to boil it for more than an hour. She worked so hard to make it for you. You should just drink it. Don't forget, she's still your mother."
Clarissa tried to persuade him nicely. She added softly, "I told you to use an umbrella on rainy days, but you never listen."
Damien got a little angry and hissed, "Stop nagging!"
Whenever Clarissa talked about the umbrella and the rain, it would remind him of Clarissa's father. He always felt like Clarissa's words were not meant for him, so hearing her talk about umbrellas angered him greatly. He casually picked up a book he was reading
"If you don't like my nagging, I'll leave." Clarissa turned around and wanted to leave, but Damien grabbed her hand and stopped her. Clarissa turned her head back. "Drink up."
Damien stared at her, then picked up the infusion before drinking it in one go. He even shook the bowl in the end, and finished every last drop. "You're such a good boy." Clarissa patted Damien's forehead. "I've finished. Aren't you going to reward me?" He looked up at Clarissa. "Reward?" Clarissa gave it a thought and sat on the bed. Then, she gave him a deep kiss. Clarissa could taste the scent and bitterness of the medicine on his lips. After the kiss, Clarissa casually leaned on his side. "Shall I go to work by myself later? The audit department just accepted a job from Brightside Investment. I need to do my best." Clarissa's eyes were bright and enchanting. They seemed to be related to Damien's eyes by an inextricably linked thread.
"Let the driver send you to work." Damien caressed Clarissa's soft hair.
"Okay." Clarissa agreed with a smile.
When Clarissa came downstairs, Mrs. Faber stared at Clarissa and made a little fuse."
Mrs. Lawrence, did you drink all the medicine?" "No. What's wrong?" Clarissa widened her eyes in confusion.
"The stain on your mouth..."
"Ah." Clarissa scrambled to wipe her mouth with a tissue.
Mrs. Faber chuckled. "Did you feed Mr. Lawrence mouth-to-mouth when he refused to drink it?"
"Sto
ne." Clarissa couldn't help but blush a little. Mrs. Faber was so straightforward!
While on her way to work, Clarissa grew a little concerned as she remembered that Joseph was going abroad soon. The journey to the office was long and boring, so she texted Joseph on WhatsApp. Clarissa: (You're going abroad soon. What about Nicole?] Joseph: (I wanted to arrange a job for her, but my father refused. He wants her to find her own way out.) Clarissa: (Why are you going abroad?] Joseph: (I'm going to further my studies. I may open an office abroad in the future.) Clarissa thought, 'Frank's so cruel. He's probably blaming Nicole for ruining his son and hates her for it, so he's leaving her to fend for herself. Can Nicole have a good life in Rebecca's presence?'
To begin with, Rebecca still held a grudge against Nicole. Perhaps Joseph felt guilty about what had happened to Rebecca. Besides, Frank was probably looking for a way out for himself. He feared that Damien would inevitably be an obstacle for Joseph. In such cases, Joseph might not be able to hold his head up in Genovia for the rest of his
life.
Joseph's only way out was to leave the country for a new beginning. What a cunning old fox! Clarissa was lost in her thoughts. When she returned to her senses and looked at her phone again, she noticed Joseph had withdrawn a message. Clarissa: [What did you send?) Joseph: (Oh, it's nothing. I accidentally sent it to the wrong person.) Clarissa didn't dwell on it. When she reached the office, she told the driver not to wait for her in the afternoon. She was going back to her mother's house. The driver asked Clarissa, "Shall I go back and inform Mr. Lawrence?" "Yeah. Please pass the message to him," Clarissa said, and then turned to leave.
It was difficult to deal with Brightside Investment's finances. Besides, it was Clarissa's first time working with all the data on her own. Thus, she was a little overwhelmed.
She worked hard until six thirty in the evening. Finally, she left the office and went to Theresa's place in a daze.
