Chapter 277 His Babies

"Clarissa, I'm here to fetch you home. After all, you're pregnant with Joseph's babies. Some people can forget about reaping other people's fruits of labor, since they've never contributed in the first place. To think those people have the gall to imprison the fruits in their home... I have no idea what such people are thinking. The fruits should be returned to the farmer in the first place!" Shirley's words were meant for Damien.

However, Damien decided to not argue with Shirley. All he did was place a hand on his forehead, not minding Shirley's words at all.

"Mrs. Moore..." Clarissa's nervousness grew. She was at loss for words, unsure of what to say.

"Joseph told me everything, Clarissa. He said he impregnated you during your trip in Kortel, so the babies definitely belong to him. Please forgive me for being rude and biased to you in the past. Can you come home with me?" Shirley patted Clarissa's hand gently.

"Did Joseph tell you this?" Clarissa asked with a light frown.

"Yes! He speaks the truth! He failed to propose to you previously because of certain reasons, so I'm here in his stead to ask you to get married to him. Clarissa, please say yes," Shirley continued. Clarissa was pregnant with fraternal twins, after all. She and the babies' father had to be extremely lucky to be able to have them.

No matter how deep Shirley's misunderstanding of Clarissa ran and how much of a wh* re she made Clarissa out to be, the babies still belonged to the Moores at the end of the day. Moreover, Joseph was deeply in love with Clarissa.

"Um..." Clarissa bowed her head and started fiddling her fingers. "Can I sit on it for a few days?"

Clarissa knew Damien would never let her go, but at the same time, she felt it was too disrespectful to turn down Shirley on the spot. Thus, she tried to delay the outcome as much as possible. "You want to think about it for a few days?" Shirley asked.

Clarissa extended three singers. "What about three days?"

"Alright, I'll come back again after three days. Some people should know very well what they should and shouldn't do. Shouldn't they know very well how someone's mother died in the past? Who on earth would want to spend the rest of their lives with an enemy? I see someone being imprisoned here, you know?" Shirley shot Damien a meaningful look before leaving.

When she mentioned Theresa earlier, Clarissa could feel her nerves tightening in

response.

After walking Shirley to the front door, she returned to the couch with a poker face.

"When did Joseph first arrive at Kortel?" Damien remained seated on the armchair in a slanted position as he continued reading his book while making small talk with Clarissa.

Since the start of the morning, the couple had been reading their own books in the living room quietly.

Of course, it was no longer early in the morning by the time they woke up.

Just now, Mrs. Faber had been busying herself in the kitchen. Sounds of pots and pans clanging could be heard coming from that direction. Clarissa and Damien read quietly in the living room, with only the pages being flipped sounding occasionally there. Bright sunlight poured through the windows from the outside, making Clarissa feel that peaceful days like this were a blessing in her life. That was all that she wanted nowadays.

"I forgot. I think it was right after I went to Emmeria," Clarissa replied.

"Was it before your exam?" Damien continued. He never stopped reading nor flipping to a new page at the right time. It was as if he was just inquiring about a relatively insignificant matter. "Yeah."

Clarissa dreaded it the most whenever someone mentioned Theresa around her. Anxiety would flood her nerves, followed by a dreadful sense of conflict. She knew Theresa was dead thanks to a certain someone in her vicinity, but now she was living in his house. Not to mention, she was pregnant with his babies.

Damien was now ninety-five percent sure that the babies belonged to him.

According to Joseph's statement, Clarissa was already pregnant before the exam. However, Damien was able to exclude that possibility since she wasn't pregnant at all at that time. After she was done with the exam, she had been staying at the Lawrence residence, so she didn't have a chance to sleep with Joseph. Mrs. Faber revealed that Clarissa was pregnant when they had croissants the other day.

Damien finally realized that Clarissa's defensive response back then wasn't to cover up the fact that she was pregnant with b*stard children. She was speaking the truth. She didn't know that she was pregnant at all.

So, the only legitimate explanation for all of this was... Clarissa got pregnant on the day before the exam.

It came from Damien's seed! The reason why Damien's hope rested at ninety-five percent right now was because he wanted Clarissa to tell him the truth, thus adding the remaining five percent.

Chunted His Babies

Damien lifted his head to look at Clarissa. She just sat there and fiddled with her fingers, a look of dilemma on her face.

"What's wrong?" he asked slowly. Damien's expression was incredibly gentle, but Clarissa never noticed it.
