Chapter 420

Chapter 420 Clarissa Clarissa was in a daze after hanging up on Neil's call.

After making some edits to her speech and scanning through her lesson plans, it was already eleven o'clock. She decided it was time to hit the sack. Wednesday was the most hectic day of the week for her, as the head of school had assigned all her important classes on that day.

The next day, Clarissa walked toward the lecture hall. On the way, almost everyone shot her mystified looks. Clarissa had put on the wrong makeup today. Overall, her entire look didn't match her makeup at all, and she looked terribly strange. On the way to the lecture hall, Clarissa bumped into Chanel, who was also on the way to her class.

"Chanel, do you have classes to lead today too?" Clarissa asked.

Chanel chuckled before adding a sarcastic remark, "Yes. By the way, you look unbelievably beautiful today."

"Huh?" Clarissa didn't know what Chanel was hinting at. "Why don't you look into the mirror and see for yourself?" Then, Chanel left.

Clarissa was dumbfounded. Though she was confused by Chanel's words, she brushed it off without a second thought and rushed into the hall.

"Let's start our class for today," Clarissa said. However, she found it odd when she saw her students suppressing their laughter. It was as if they had spotted something amusing.

Looking at the audience, she saw Caleb sitting alone in the third row.

He was staring straight at Clarissa, his arms crossed.

If she were to meet Caleb seven years back, Clarissa wouldn't have fallen for Zach. After all, Caleb looked a lot more handsome compared to Zach.

"Is there something wrong?" Since Clarissa was a new lecturer, she was quite worried she might not be able to deliver her materials efficiently. Seeing that the students had all grouped up at the back of the hall, Clarissa wondered if they found her classes boring. 'At this rate, am I even qualified to give a speech at the orientation as the representative of the young lecturers in school?'

She looked at her students, apparently still in a daze. Caleb crossed his legs and scanned the room. "Nothing's wrong, Miss. Please proceed with class."

After that, the students burst out laughing. Some of them were even laughing uncontrollably underneath the table.

Clarissa frowned. It was obvious Caleb was lying to her. He was just trying to help her out. Feeling awkward, she said, "Alright, let's continue with class." It wasn't until class ended did she realize the reason behind the students' odd behavior today.

While she was organizing her textbooks, her postgraduate student Lisa waved a phone in front of her.

"Yes?" Clarissa was confused. Looking at the phone screen, Clarissa realized that Lisa was showing her a painting.

"The name of the painting is called 'Clarissa', your name. When we were having breakfast at the cafeteria this morning, we saw it hanging on the wall inside the cabinet display along the hallway." Lisa inched furtively to Clarissa's ear and whispered, "Just telling you, the person who drew this is a very handsome man!"

Clarissa was even more puzzled. When she heard that, she felt the need to take a look at the painting herself. Clarissa walked downstairs. The painting was hung on the wall just next to the stairs.

Inside the cabinet was a watercolor painting of a woman walking on campus. The wind blew gently at her dress, and her two braids were swaying in front of her chest. Although she looked pretty in the wind, her expression made it obvious that she was preoccupied by her thoughts. Underneath the painting was a column labelled 'Clarissa'. It was quite obvious as to who the woman in the painting was. Only did she understand why Chanel was making fun of her this morning. She must've seen the painting! However, Clarissa didn't know who drew it.

If she were to guess, Caleb might be the one behind it.

Until today, Clarissa still didn't treat Caleb's confession seriously. At the end of the day, she thought of Caleb's feelings as fleeting and uncertain. He was her student, after all. She didn't know how Caleb managed to open the cabinet and put the drawing in there. Since she didn't know how to unlock the cabinet, she simply decided to leave the beautiful painting there.
