Luna Abigail -
Chapter 19
Unknown’s P.O.V.
Selene had finally sent for me. I was about to meet my mate, and as excited as I felt, I was also highly aware of the urge to bitchslap him in the face for being a pompous, purist, and ignorant a*****e towards the Queen and every pack member. Taking up the role as alpha. Stepping in his father’s ignorant footsteps.
He had set foot in the path of redemption after the meeting with Sylla and Annika, but was he really changed, or was it a facade? It was not his first meeting with Sylla and I kept wondering why that meeting had been a turning point? I guess I would get the chance of asking him, now that I was on my way to meeting him.
On my right, my she-wolf is walking. She is a proud creature. Sassy but friendly. We bonded the second we met in Selene’s world. My wolf is beautiful, if I say so myself. She is tall with fur as deep green as it almost looks black. Her eyes are resembling amethysts and her tail has stripes of silver, light purple, and gold. She is definitely a sight to behold.
Selene came to my parents, explaining to them what my fate was and why she had to take me away to her world, so I wouldn’t run into my mate pre-time. He had a lot to show for himself before she would deem him ready for his second chance.
Yes, I know I am his second chance mate, and I also know about every transgression he has made since childhood. Selene was completely transparent with me and my wolf, so we knew what to expect.
We are walking slowly towards the group of people when Astra breaks the silence between us.
‘He knows we are coming. His wolf has just reached out to me. They are nervous and afraid we will reject them for what they have done.’ Her voice is smooth and soothing, though an annoyed edge had crept into it. I smiled at her and put my right hand on her back. Astra purred a bit, showing her contentness at being with me.
As we neared the group, I saw my mate. He was standing frozen to the spot, wide eyes and mouth slightly agape. He was hot! Even more so close up. His ice-blue eyes bore into mine, as if looking for something. His skin a dark golden, with rugged black hair. I was no small woman, and my mate still towered over me with a broad body filled with rippled muscles. The tribal tattoos covering his arms. My mouth instantly watered when his scent invaded my nostrils; fresh cut grass and honey. It was so soothing and sexy.
Astra laughed in my mind at all the dirty thoughts his scent alone made me think. Damn, was this the matebond already? I shook my head as to clear it. We needed to have a talk before I gave into the matebond.
Daemon’s P.O.V.
She was walking so slowly. Her scent wafted towards me, and Jackson stirred. He had been sulking in the back of my mind since Selene announced we were not ready to meet our second chance mate. Jackson wanted nothing more than to have her by our side, to protect and love. He didn’t care who or what she was, as long as she didn’t reject us, which there was a fair possibility of. He purred, sat up, and panted. I knew what that had to mean. Her smell was the sweetest I had ever encountered. Even Abby didn’t compare. Her scent of honeysuckles and lavender was absolutely mesmerising.
I stood frozen in place, not able to move. She had me at the mercy of her hands already. Or rather, her words. I already knew I didn’t care if she was a mix or pure wolf. She. Was. Mine!
As she got closer, I could get a better view of her, and she was f*****g gorgeous. A word I would have never used, but there was no other way to describe her. My mate was a petite girl with long, slender legs and a toned body. All movements seemed fluent and agile. Her skin was a light chocolate, with deep, drown eyes, with freckles of green under arched eyebrows. The face held soft features, a mouth of full lips and a strong chin. The hair is Abrun in color, going down to the middle of her back in loose curls.
We locked eyes for a moment; hers seem curious. Whereas I was searching for some cue of her feelings or intentions. Her eyes narrowed slightly, her emotions in check. I gulped.
She finally reached our little group of people and goddess. I give her a little smile, to which she frowns. Oh no.
Abby and Matthew stare at me with a knowing glint in their eyes. They know.
My mate ignores me at first, kneeling before our rulers. Her wolf goes down on her front legs, bowing too.
“My Queen, My King. It is an honor finally meeting the both of you. My name is Isadora and my wolf is Astra.” She says with a low melodic voice. I just want to snatch her up from the ground and never let go. Jackson keeps shouting at me to go get her, and convince her we have changed and she needs to give us a chance to love her and be loved in return.
When did the feared alpha of Black Moon become a lovesick puppy?
“Please rise, Isadora and Astra.” Abby says in a gracious voice. Isadora stands still with her head slightly bowed, not daring to look the Queen in the eyes.
“Isadora, I need to ask you two very important questions?” Abby says. Isadora nods solemnly.
“First question; is Daemon your mate?” Isadora looks up in pure astonishment, but cast her eyes down again immediately and nods silently.
“Second question; which elemental powers do you have and please look at me? I won’t eat you or anything.” Abby laughs.
“I.. Uh. How did you.. Well, of course you would know. Uhm. I am an earth elemental, your Majesty.” She stumbles over the words as if star struck. Abby’s aura is strong and imposing at first, but the longer you are in its presence, the more you get used to it.
Aby smiles a big radiant smile, looking over my mate and her beautiful wolf. She has that glint in her eyes again.
“Well, please just call me Abby. This is Matthew, my mate and King.” She starts, “and if I’m not mistaken, you are the fifth and final star wolf?” She states in a question, looking between Selene and Isadora. Selene smiles.
“She indeed the fifth star wolf. She is the last of the four elemental sisters. The soul sister of their Queen, who is a mix of all the elementals. Have you never noticed your wolf, Abigail?” Selene answers the questions, while asking one herself.
I feel kind of left out here, as I have never set my eyes on Abby’s wolf. I was not on the battlefield the day Matthew found her, because my father insisted on me staying in the packhouse to look after the pack, in case something happened while he was away. Truth be told, he just didn’t want me anywhere near Abby or her wolf.
“I saw Galaxy here, Selene. But I was so occupied with my mother being there, I noticed nothing out of the ordinary.” As she says that, a new wolf walks out of nowhere. She is huge, especially for a she-wolf, silver fur with a purple hue swirling as an aura around her. The eyes are swirling between silver and purple, but the most magnificent about her were her paws! The front right paw has stripes of blue, the left front has stripes of green, the back left paw has stripes of red, while the back right paw is completely pure silver white with some sparkle – reminding one of the newly fallen snow. She is something else entirely, and I can’t believe Abby has not noticed how special her wolf is.
Everyone gasps. Abby looks at her wolf in awe, while Isadora and her wolf bow down once again. The wolf – Galaxy looks at me. She sniffs the air and I feel the urge to bow as well.
‘Daemon, I have seen into your heart and soul. It is not too late to redeem yourself and your wolf from the past. You have already started. If you accept Isadora and Astra and they accept you back, you are going to be part of our family. This, though, comes with responsibilities. You will have to change the way your pack is run. Hybrids, tribrids, witches, vampires etc. are a part of our family. Can you accept this?’ She asks in a stoic melodious voice, which has Jackson begging me to please her and change my ways. I have never really had anything against the other species, but my father blinded me. I sigh.
“I have held none animosity towards other species, though my behavior has shown otherwise. I am truly sorry for the way I have treated Abby and you. My wolf says the same thing. We are ready to show the world we are not our father, and we will change the way things in the pack are done. I will make a decree which says everyone can have their mate, no matter which species, origin and gender. We will lead our pack into the modern age. I hope Isadora will lead the pack with me, and show the way into the future.” I say the last part while looking at my sweet and beautiful mate. She seems impressed by my answer, but something in her eyes tells me she is wary of saying yes.
‘Your answer is truthful. If you win over your mate, we will talk again,’ Galaxy says before nuzzling Abby and Matthew and walking away.
Abby kept looking between me and my mate. It looked like she wanted to say something, but before she could utter a word, Isadora turned to me. Her eyes were suddenly blazing, her mouth pressed together sternly. My heart started beating frantically. Was this the time where she would reject me and Jackson?
“If you don’t think I know exactly what you have done in your life, you can think twice, mister. I have lived in Selene’s world for a long time, looking over you and your wolf. Celebrating your achievements, crying over your losses. Your happiness was mine and your sorrow was mine. But I mostly was absolutely disgusted about the way you have been treating people around you! Your mother, your ‘friends’ and Abby. How dare you reject her on the day your father murdered her mother?!” She never raised her voice, but the utter disappointment in there made me squirm uncomfortably. I looked away from her blazing gaze, not able to meet her eyes. She was right about everything. I didn’t like to think about it or recall most of it, but she made me. She was forcing me to acknowledge my wrong doings. A stray tear escaped down my cheek.
“I’m sorry.” Was all I could say. How could I ever make things right? Could I really redeem myself enough? Making up for everything? I know we are immortals, but there was so much to apologise for. I need to confront my mom too, tell her I’m sorry. Promise her to do better by her and the pack.
“Your sorry does not really make up for all the horrible stuff you did.” She mutters. My heart feels like it is going to cleave in two. I know I have so much to make up for, but it feels like she is not even giving me a chance.
“I have to tell you, I am a hybrid as well as The Queen. I know that must be a disappointment for you.” She says softly, a tear sliding down her cheek. I wipe the tear and feel the sparkles between us. She looks up with such sadness in her eyes, and it kills me inside to know I am the one responsible for that sadness.
“I really don’t care if you are a hybrid, darling. You are beautiful, feisty, and sassy. I am in awe of you and have been since I saw you walking here. You and your wolf.” I say sincerely. “I, Daemon, alpha of the Black Moon pack, accept you Isadora and Astra, as my mate and Luna.” With a small smile, I announce my acceptance of my mate, even though I don’t even know what she is a hybrid of. It doesn’t matter to me. All that matters is that she is mine, and will win her over. I really hope she will come to accept me, but right now I am just trying to reassure her of my feelings.
She looks at me with wide, scared eyes. It reminds me of a deer in a headlight. I can’t help but chuckle.
Abby laughs while Matthew tries to shush her. A feat no one ever has accomplished before. To no surprise, he fails miserably, too. Isadora looks confused about what is happening, and I take her hand in mine. She does not retract it, to my utter delight. I k**s her knuckles and smile.
“It was about damn time you realised being with one’s mate is the greatest honor in life.” Abby says when she calms down. “And I absolutely approve of her! She is a feisty one. You’ll have your hands full.” She giggles. Then she turns to my blushing mate.
“Daemon might be an a*****e.” Uhm, thank you. “But he has been taught nothing else from that psycho of a father, so don’t hold him responsible for everything. He was always meant to reject me, to get me to Matt, but I agree the way he did. It could have been better. Then again, I think Selene is to blame for the situation he did it in – she knew I would not leave my pack unless under extreme customisations and even then I didn’t.” Abby eyes the goddess, who looks a tad uncomfortable being mentioned.
Isadora takes a deep breath and is about to say something when Selene interrupts.
“I think it’s about time you young people return to your packs. You have been here a while, and even though time passes differently here, you have also been gone a while in your own realm. A couple of hours. People are noticing. Isadora and Astra, you will go back with Daemon. Henrik will be a little later. Please cover for him.” Selene says with a smile.
Before any of us can protest, she has teleported us back. Isadora looks rather alarmed about being in my office with me alone.
“Should we talk?” I ask, hopeful she will listen and decide to stay. As she nods, there is a knock on the door.
“Daemon, honey, I know you are in there. I’m here to please you again.” A female voice calls out!
Ah, f**k.
