Luna Abigail -
Chapter 27
Third person P.O.V.
Matt felt the break in his mate bond connection with Abby immediately. He rushed from the training grounds, where he had been discussing the new training regime with the head warriors from both packs. He was supposed to go to the new pack house to look over the progress, but when the connection suddenly went dormant in him, he and Blade needed to go back to her office. What had happened?
A panicked Jason joins Matt at the entrance to the house. He is looking to be between pissed off and very confused, displaying the emotions running through Matt himself.
“Did Ellie disappear too?” Matt asks, while they both run up the stairs where Abby’s office is. He nods curtly.
They both burst through the door to the office only a couple of minutes before Abby and Ellie went missing, surprising the three goddesses in there, who are looking puzzled themselves.
Jason instinctively growls at the three strangers, not recognizing Selene in his worried state.
“Where is my mate?” He asks, while stalking towards the three ladies. Matt reaches a hand out, grabbing his furious friend before he harms himself.
“I am sorry, Selene.” Matt says towards the goddess. Jason stops dead in his tracks. Selene. Oh shit. He was about to attack the moon goddess. But who were the others? And most importantly, where were his mate and his Queen?
As if she can read his mind, Selene answers the unspoken question.
“This is my sisters, Ophelia and Monica. Ophelia is the goddess of vampires, whereas Monica is the goddess of all magic kind. We came to discuss the question on Abby carrying the Destiny Children, but before we could get her to gather you all, she was summoned. Ellie seemed to feel what was happening, and she jumped on. Do you two know where they went?” Selene explains. When the guys look utterly confused, she gets a bad feeling. Something is very wrong indeed.
“No, we don’t know where they are? The mate bond link to both of them not there. It’s like its gone dormant in some way, so we cannot track them down.” Matt answers on both their behalf’s, his anger rising.
“Why didn’t you three stop that teleportation if you were here?” Jason asks the goddesses, not able to keep his voice calm. He is convinced the goddesses know where his mate is, and he need her home. They have told no one yet, but Ellie is pregnant. With a girl the doctor said yesterday, when they were at the appointment. He needs them both back, alive and well. If anything happened to any of them, he would raise hell.
The goddesses look at each other. If the guys can’t feel their mates, there is only one place they can be, and that is not good. Not good at all. They start a mental conversation on how to handle this situation, when Matt and Jason’s phones rings, and Morgan burst through the door. On the phone are Sami and Isadora. None of the three girls can feel Abby or Ellie, and they are all worried.
“We are driving to you now.” Isadora says, while Daemon instructs his Beta and Gamma to keep the fort while they settle this. Benjamin does the same on the end where Sami is, and she tells them they are on their way as well.
Morgan is not paying attention to the phone calls. She is staring at the women, to whom she has not been presented. But she knows one of them personally; Monica. She is her goddess, well she was her only goddess until she became the mate to Brandon and a hybrid.
“What aren’t you telling us?” She asks the women as she strides towards them. On the contrary to the wolves, she is not afraid of the goddesses, nor is she intimidated. She is a star wolf and the Mother of her coven. They are nothing but tricksters and illusionists to her.
“I asked you a question, Mater Dea.” She says looking directly at Monica, blatantly ignoring the others, much to their dismay.
“We are…” Ophelia tries, but Morgan holds up her hand.
“I wasn’t asking you. I am asking her.” She says, still not looking at any other than Monica. It filled the room with tension, as everyone else tried to stay out of the stand of in front of them. Brandon, feeling his mate’s absolute outrage, comes running into the office, making it a little crowded. Marr mind-links Kaiden to not come there, even though he was on his way with Laurel. Feeling their alpha and King’s rage and despair, they had rushed home from their romantic lunch in town. He agreed, but they were still coming home, just to be near if he needed them, anyway. Matt asked Jason to do the same with his ranked members, and he agreed.
“Listen here, little lady. I don’t know how you think you are..” Ophelia starts, with utterly indignation over the audacity of this creature. But again she is stopped by a hand. This time Morgan turns her head, and Ophelia has to take a step back. Her eyes are not the same as they use to be. One eye is a deep emerald green, and the other is an amethyst purple. How and when did that happen? She looks at her sisters, who are as bewildered as she is.
“I am still not speaking to you. And I’m not afraid of you! Now, I’ll ask one more time and you have 10 seconds to answer me. WHERE IS ABBY AND ELLIE?” Morgan yells the last part, shaking the office. Everyone, Brandon included, gasps. How did she do that? Brandon had felt more power within his mate from the moment she had become the official Mother of her coven, but this kind of power was something else.
Monica takes a deep breath. She should have seen this coming. Making Morgan a hybrid and Mother was the deal she, Selene, and Ophelia had made. Along with Sami and Ellie. They had chosen girls from all the fractions, to gather and unite them in a sisterhood that would benefit their goal. But she should have seen the development with her young one coming, anyway. Abby was the queen. Born of two fractions and species, but Morgan had proven her skills more than once. Having multicolored eyes was special indeed. Just look at Abby. But having one eye, one color, and their other another color was also very rare. She sighed. This was something to think about later.
“It looks like Abigail and Ellie have been taken to the underworld. Deam Inferna. It is Keres’s domine, and where she is her strongest. As we created Deam Mundi, your realm, we also created Deam Inferna. A place for all of those who wanted to live differently than the rest. Some of them can coexist with the rest of the realm, but we confined most of them there to make the realm safer. Over the centuries, Keres has grown more and more unhappy with her place, and wants her fraction to thrive on the cost of others. Which we naturally won’t allow.” Monica says calmly. Morgan narrow her eyes.
“So if they have been taken to the underworld, then why can’t neither of us feel them?” She asks, unhappy with the answer.
“It is because they are not in your realm anymore. Someone down there, someone powerful and high-ranking, has brought them down there and over the border.” Selene answer in a small voice. She doesn’t like this anymore than the rest, but she knows that as of right now, the girls are on their own. She and her sister can come and go as they please, but she fear before the day is over they will have to make a tough choice.
The roars from the mates of the girls shake the entire pack house. They both starts to shift, which they can not be allowed. Selene put both their wolves to sleep until they can resolve this. They will remain with their humans, but not be able to wake until heir mates are back. Jason and Matt lay panting on the floor from the effort and godly power flowing through them.
Brandon approaches the fallen alphas slowly, just as Kaiden rushes in. They help their friends to stand, and over to the couches in the room. Morgan watches in silence. She is contemplating on what to do, and an idea forms in her head.
‘Brandon, we need to save them. We need to get them back. Both of them.’ Morgan links her mate. He looks at her from under his lashes. He doesn’t like the way she is imploring this.
‘I know, baby, and we will. But we need a plan, and backup.’ He links back. She slowly shakes her head.
‘No. We need the star wolves in full capacity. And I am powerful enough to get us in and out. I need to do this, babe,’ she says back, looking at the floor because she doesn’t wan to look at the disappointment in her mate’s face. His words surprise her.
‘I know, my love. Please be safe, both of you. And make sure all of you are coming home safely. I can’t lose you, Morgan. But I know you need to do this.” She smiles at him. Actually, she is going only with Sami and Isadora, she is going to bring another. Someone who has been feeling a bit left out, but will be able to help them tremendously.
She walks to Brandon, k****s him with abandon, and then leaves the room. The goddesses watch in confusion before Brandon asks them many random questions. Something that takes them all by surprise. He tries to understand what has happened to both Matt and Jason’s wolves. Explaining he has always wanted to meet a goddess, and if they have the time, he really wants to know some things. The women are equally pleased, curious and suspicious about this turn of events.
Meanwhile, Morgan is hunting down where Laurel is. As the only, apart from Abby, who were shunned and not included, full-blooded werewolf, she knows the history and law by heart. She needed to know, to live under the same roof as her father and wicked sister. She has been locking herself in, ever since Maria tried to kill Abby and got killed instead.
They burned together all the traitors on the other side of the pack border. Not allowed to rest with the other loyal souls that died that day. Laurel hadn’t cried for her sister at the funeral, but when she and Kaiden came back to their room, she broke down.
An omega told Morgan the beta would be in the library. Excellent. She ran there, knowing her mate only could buy her a little time before the goddesses would know something was up. When she found Laurel, she explained her plan. The girl smiled, a genuine smile. She agreed at once to help. They called both Sami and Isadora, getting their coordinates. Then Morgan teleported to each of them with Laurel. When they had explained the plan to the girls, they were game. The guys needed a little more swaying.
In other words, both Sami and Isadora asked their mates to stop thinking they were the only ones who can save the day, and let the ladies take the lead in this. Daemon mumble something about never getting in on any action, and Isadore promptly answer that was not what he said last night, making all the girls laugh. They then noticed Daemon and Isadora had marked each other, which made for a round of congratulations.
As they were all gathered, Morgan chanted the spell to get them to the underworld. She aimed for the royal castle. It took effect immediately, teleporting the four girls towards their soul sisters.
In the pack house, Brandon was running out of questions to ask the goddesses. Who became more and more suspicious of his behaviour?
“Where is Morgan, Brandon?” Brandon swallows. He doesn’t want to lie to his goddess, especially when she is asking in a mild, motherly voice. He doesn’t have to answer. As soon as the question leaves her lips, her eyes widen. Brandon feels it. The emptiness. But he knows why and his wolf is calm.
“I’m afraid they have gone to do your job, Great Mother.” He answers with a bow.
