Luna Abigail -
Chapter 35
Third person P.O.V.
Adriana couldn’t believe it. The life she had run away from, many, many years ago, had caught up with her. She knew it would only be a matter of time, but as time went on, she had hoped it never would.
Now she was sitting here, in this fine office belonging to the sister of Jax’s charge. She tried to take some deep breaths, but her anxiety of Jeremy rejecting after she told them everything was blocking her from it. She kept going over everything in her mind. How much should she tell them? Was she going to die? Was she going to be all alone yet again? The question swirled in her mind, making her dizzy.
Her parents, cast out from her mother’s old coven for a crime against both her and his kind, had done what they had to do to survive. They had loved each other, and her, very much. Their crime? She was a witch, and he was a vampire. It was very much forbidden, and they had sought the protection of the demon king. Her mother had been pregnant with her, and they had seen no other option. Vampires balancing between light and dark, he had crossed over to the underworld.
There, her father had pleaded with the king for mercy upon him and his love. The king had agreed, but when her mother had given birth to her, he had killed her father. Taking her mother as his favorite mistress, making sure they brought her daughter up safely.
Her mother had hated him with a passion, but always instilled love and happiness in her daughter. Adriana remembered her mother telling her; “this life has been cruel in ways I can’t even describe, but always remember to look on the bright side of things, my darling. You never know what hand you will be dealt in life, but always make to make the best of it.” She had remembered and carried her mother’s words in her heart. She kept telling her stories every night about her father, keeping his picture in her room, even though the king had forbid it.
She had been killed when Adriana was sixteen, and she had been all alone. The king had made it obvious he wanted her as his mistress as well, but she tried to avoid him as much as she could. She had made friends with Narine, and couldn’t see why everyone else hated her so much.
It was only after she escaped the underworld; she had seen her former friend for what she was. A manipulative bitch. Only doing something for her own gain, and never once caring about others than herself.
Jeremy held her close. The sparks intensified, and Adriana took a deep breath. She looked up at Jasmin, expecting her to look at her with hatred and disdain, like she was used to. Adriana knew now what had happened, really happened. She had made Jasmin’s mate reject her. But she didn’t quite understand how? She had felt the sparks too and had been convinced he was her mate and Jasmin was trying to ruin their relationship. Narine had supported her, telling him many nasty things about Jasmin. She had been so wrong.
Jasmin sat there, rigid and contemplative. She had thought that her mate rejecting her had been a scheme of both Narine and Adriana. She and Narine had never seen eye to eye, and they never would. Narine was and would always be jealous of Jasmin. Even more so when Jasmin and Jasper helped ruin her plan to snatch Jax as her own.
They had grown up together, Adriana as well. She had always been there, but never made any fuss or noise. So speaking. She had been a quiet bookworm, who enjoyed the quiet of the library instead of being on the playground with the others.
Or that was at least what Jasmin had thought. Adriana and Narine had been close almost from the start, and now Jasmin was wondering if Narine saw an easy target in Adriana? She was a demon, and the king had made it clear none was to bother her, even though she was an outsider. It had also been common knowledge that the king had killed Adriana’s father, just so he could take her mother as his mistress. Another mistress. But she was, as Jasmin and her brother’s mother, also a favorite. Therefore, her child was protected.
Jonathan had meant to sit beside her on the couch, but Jax and Jasper had sat there before he could do it. The scowl on his face was priceless. ‘Serves you right’, Jasmin thought to herself. Sundancer whined in her head. She wanted her mate. She was so afraid of being rejected again, she was ready to forgive about everything. But Jasmin couldn’t care less. He had protected a potential enemy of his mate over her. He had questioned her about her motives, and he had yet to apologize for any of it.
She sighed. Her hands found her brothers, and a low growl emitted from her so-called mate. Jasmin ignored him, waited as penitently her could for the girl opposite her to answer her question. She had tried to be nice and polite while asking, but she knew it would take time for them to get used to each other. She was not part of Ellie’s pack. Abby’s pack. So she had to give this a try. IF and only if it actually was all Narine and she had nothing to do with it.
Adriana looks up, fright in her eyes. Jasmins keeps a calm and friendly look on her face, really wanting the girl to know she, as of right now, does not hold any hatred or grudges against her.
“I. I think it will be easier to show you?” Adriana whispers, shoulders up in a protective stance and head ducked down immediately after her whisper.
“Are you allowed to do that? That’s pretty powerful magic.” Jasper asks, kindly. He is also trying to reach out. He can feel the change in me. And he knows we need answers. Answers only Adriana can really give us.
Adriana shrugs and looks around the room. She wants to ask Morgan, but she is not here. She takes another deep breath.
“It’s actually up to Mother Morgan, but I would think so because it resolves around my own memories.” She answers quietly.
“I have mind-linked the question to Morgan, and she says go for it! And she asks if you’ll need help?” Ellies says from the chair at the office desk. Adriana gives her a small smile.
“No thank you, Luna. I only need a drop of b***d from Jasmin, Jasper, and Jax. They were all there when the events accrued, and their b***d will help me with strength as well.”
She snaps her fingers and three small glass phials appeared out of the blue. The siblings exchange looks. B***d magic was forbidden many years ago, but they knew there were some loopholes to that ban.
“B***d magic?” Jasmin asks her voice unsure what to think.
“IT’s not. Not really. I am not using it without your content, and I only use a couple of drops. It’s to make sure we end the right place, and to help me in the process. You contain your own magic, and it will merge with mine as the spell unfolds, and then be gone when the spells is over.” Adriana says, a little more sure of herself.
She looks at Jeremy with sad eyes. He will definitely reject her and seek someone stronger and more confident after this. But she knew it had to be done, if she and Jasmin would ever get closure. Jeremy, utterly confused by the sad eyes of his beautiful mate, reached an arm around her and hugged her from the side. He was going to support her through this! He would let nothing happen to her, and he would stand by her side.
He knew her past must be bad for these strangers to be acting like this. He trusted Willow and Jax in their judgment, and by default he trusted Jax’s siblings, but whatever they were accusing his mate of, she didn’t do. Or did with no witness. Either way. She was innocent in his eyes.
“How many can travel by this spell, baby?” Jeremy purrs in her ear. She smiles, a beautiful shy smile.
“The room.” She whispers in answer. The entire room, however, heard her. Everyone is looking around, unsure what this means and if they should even intrude. Jeremy mind-link his alpha and luna. They agree with him. It will be important for every single person in here to know the truth about the past of Jasmin and Adriana. he asks them if we should get Abby and Matt here as well, but Ellie shakes her head at him.
‘They need time to heal and talk. We will do this without them and explain and fill them in later. Matthew was really out of it, and Abby needs rest.’
‘I agree with my Luna.’ Jason states. Jeremy nod in their direction.
As Adriana gets up to collect the b***d of the three siblings, Jeremy turns his attention against his seething friend.
‘Jonathan, relax! She will come around.’ He mind-links his tense beta. Jonathan has not taken his eyes off his mate since he saw her in the Queen and King’s room. He knows he screwed up in there, and he wants to make amends. But he doesn’t seem to get the chance. She keeps ignoring him, and her irritating brothers keep getting in his way to be beside her.
‘Easy for you to say! You have your mate right beside you. Mine is ignoring me and is possibly going to reject me. Again.’ He answers in a sad and angry voice. Jeremy knows this is a very sore topic for him. He has already been rejected once, and his beast will not let that happen again.
‘She will come around, but you were kind of an arse to her in the other room. And you defended another female right in front of her. A female she, at the time, tried to kill, might I add?’ Jeremy retort cooly.
‘Poseidon keeps trying to take control. He wants me to apologize in front of everyone. He wants me to beg for her forgiveness and a chance to show her we are hers and will never seek another over her. AND I DEFENDED YOUR MATE!’ He yells the last part. Throwing it into his best friend’s face.
Jason has been following the exchange of his beta and gamma with interest, but when Jonathan’s eyes suddenly change color completely, he stands up.
“Poseidon!” He says in a stern voice. The beta turn his head towards his alpha. His eyes shining with the color of his beast.
“Yes, alpha.” Jonathan answers in a low, gruff voice.
“You can’t take control like that. Let Jonathan back. NOW!” Jason demands, but the wolf clearly has no intention of following the orders of his alpha.
“NO! I. I need to say something. Please alpha. I need to…” the wolf says through Jonathan. He looks at Jason with pleading eyes. Then he shifts to look directly at Jasmin.
“Mate.” He breathes, trying to sound gentle and failing miserably.
Jasmin looks at him. Taken aback by this turn of events. Does her mate not have control over his animal? That’s just.. Wow. Her head is spinning. The look in his eyes, however, contains nothing but tenderness, sadness and love. So much so, Jasmin feels herself to be drawn in.
Ellie puts a hand on Jason and shakes her head at him.
‘Let him speak, love,’ she says in his mind. Jason smiles at her and sits down. This is going to be interesting. Poseidon has never taken control like this before, so it must be really important for him to do it now.
Adriana returns to her place beside Jeremy, and looks on with interest. If anyone deserves a loving mate, it’s the persons in front of her. She has always liked the siblings, but Narine always told her how rude, inconsiderate and cruel they were to her. How they were always talking shit behind her back, and how she couldn’t trust anyone but her.
Jasmin shoves Jasper in the ribs, trying to get him to move, but he won’t. Then she turns her sight to Jax, who sighs. He grabs Jasper by his collar and hauls him up from the couch.
“What the f**k, bro?” Jasper yells.
“She’s a big girl. Let her handle it.” He says simply. Jasper shakes his head.
“He doesn’t deserve her!” He sneers. Jasmin sends him a warning look, and Jasper shakes his head.
“Well, it’s the truth! He defended someone else, Jasmin. He…” Jasmin stands, hands on her h**s.
“Don’t make me smack you, brother. Because I will send you back to the underworld with that smack and you’ll not go on the memory journey with us.” She threatens. Jasper chuckles. He set his sight on the wolf/man on the couch, looking on in slight amusement.
“If you ever hurt her again, I will kill you! Slowly… Over centuries. Until you beg for death, and I will deny it at first, torturing you some more before taking you out of the misery.” Poseidon nods, a solemn glint in his eyes.
Jasmin turn to sit again, but before she can, Poseidon get on his knees before her.
“My human is a stupid, stubborn arse. But he is my counterpart in everyway! He did not mean any offense by defending Adriana. He was defending his gamma female, his best friend’s mate. It does not make it right, but it’s the truth. We are both so, so sorry we hurt you. You are our mate, and we want nothing but to make you happy! Make you smile. You are gorgeous, smart, and sassy. We already know this. Please give us a chance, Jasmine. My sweetheart, my heart.” Poseidon pleads with her. Begging for the forgiveness that his human is too afraid and proud to beg for.
“Oh, and no. I rarely take control away from Jonathan, but he is afraid of the ramifications of his actions, seeing as you are our second chance, mate. Our first mate seduced, used and rejected us.” Poseidon’s voice crack at the end.
Jasmin falls to her knees, coming into eyesight with her mate. Tears in her eyes. They knew what it felt like to be rejected. They were begging for her forgiveness. She searched his eyes and found nothing but sadness and fright. Fright she would not forgive them.
“Please bring Jonathan back.” She says to the wolf. The panic in his eyes is clear, but he does as she asks. The room is eerie silent, and Jasmin has almost forgotten they are there at all. His eyes stop glowing and change color back to Jonathan’s normal hazle color.
He looks down. Not daring to look into the ice-blue eyes of the woman who holds his heart. He didn’t want to admit it to himself, but hearing Poseidon saying it out loud. He knew it to be true.
“Jonathan, look at me.” A gentle voice demands. When he lifts his eyes, they meet with hers.
“Do you forgive yourself?” She asks.
