Luna Abigail -
Chapter 44
Abby’s P.O.V.
“You f*****g bitch! That is my son. Set him free immediately.” The old man screams in my face. He grabs my hair before Lawrence and Cedric yanks him away from me. Matt stands in front of me, and the other alphas yell for him to stand down. Some Lunas jump in, just as an elderly woman runs forward to free her husband, or punch me. Whichever came first, I guess.
“Let him go! He has done nothing wrong. Tell them to let him go! NOW!” Her screams meddle with her mates. They are clearly frustrated, but I have yet to find out why.
“Will you both shut the hell up?” I yell over the crowd in my Luna Queen’s voice. They can do nothing but comply with my orders, and the quiet spreads like wildfire.
“Okay, first and foremost; who the heck are you two?” I put my hand in my sides and stare them down. The woman has tears down her cheeks and refuses to meet my eyes, but her mate stares at me with a wild look in his eyes. Red spots of anger coat his cheeks, and his breathing is heavy.
I mind-link most of the crowd to go to lunch, so it is just me, Matt, Kaiden, Lawrence and Cedric back in the hallway with the couple.
“You can refuse to answer me, but my wolf will get the truth out of you.” I warn, but they still won’t say anything. I am too hungry and miss my children to deal with this right now.
“Take them to the dungeon – isolation for the both of them. I’ll deal with this later.” I order. Kaiden’s eyes glaze over and the guards from before arrive in a second. I hadn’t even noticed him coming back. Damn, this proves how exhausted I really am.
We walk to the dining hall, but my heart is not in it. I want to see my children, hold them and k**s them. Matt must have sensed where I was at, because a few minutes later the nannies come in with the twins. I take Amber in my arms, as Maze sits with his dad. The room has gone quiet, but it doesn’t take long for congratulations to ring through the walls.
Maze and Amber are on their best behavior, and everyone falls in love with them. After half an hour, Morgan shows up with a grumpy Mira Rose.
“She woke just as your nannies came to get the twins, and I got some mother/daughter time, but this was as far as her patience went.” She says with a laugh, as she sits down next to Matt and Maze. Gasps go around the table we are sitting at, and I only lift an eyebrow as a question.
One of the Lunas I’ve been speaking to at the table clear her throat.
“Ahem. Your highness, it is highly unpropitious for a simple gamma female, let alone a.. A. A witch, and if I’m not mistaken; a mother of a coven.” She looks at Morgan uncertainly, but she nods in confirmation.
“To sit with you. She is beneath your time. Your beta should be allowed to join in on the conversation, but only when necessary. You should really only surround yourself with alphas and Lunas. While not quite as dignified as you, we are closer in rank. AND she didn’t even greet you properly.” I look at her to see if she is joking, but the woman is dead serious.
Morgan and I lock eyes before we both burst out laughing. The kids look at us like we are crazy, but this is just too much to handle for now. I shake my head at her, hold up a finger, and take a sip of water. Then I proceed to mind-link the nannies.
“Would you guys take them for a while? I’m sorry the break wasn’t as long as I hoped for, but we need to make some things clear with our visitors.” I ask the girls as they approach. Another round of gasps, more subtle this time, but it was there. I internally roll my eyes.
‘They are in for a rude awakening.’ I mind-link Matt, as the nannies take the twins and Mira Rose to the play area in the adjacent room. I want them close by at all times. The threat to my children is not gone just because Freya had her title taken away.
‘Yeah, well, most of them have been raised with old and forgotten rules about how alphas and Lunas are practically royals. Didn’t you hear the “not quite as dignified?” before? She is insinuating they are almost in rank with us,’ Matt answers. I can picture how Blade is running back and forth in irritation in his mind, fuming and complaining.
‘Don’t worry, my love. There are going to be changes, and they start now! Have the other guests arrived?’
‘Yes, they are quartered in the old pack house.’ Matt’s eyes glaze over.
‘And they are coming to the meeting room as we speak.’ I nod in appreciation.
After lunch, we all make our way to the meeting room, where our surprise is waiting. As the door opens, I hear an uproar from the alphas.
“What are you doing here? You are supposed to e back home, protecting the pack?”
“I haven’t allowed you to travel outside the pack? This is going against your alpha.”
“This will have to be punished later. Just you wait.”
I shake my head at the stupidity of these entitled beings.
“Okay, everyone, sit down and be quiet. The Queen will give soon an explanation, but for now, please sit with your beta and gamma.” Brandon says from up front. On purpose, I have asked him and Morgan to be there instead of Kaiden and Laurel.
Laurel is keeping in contact with the warriors we have guarding the packs, and Kaiden is busy with the prisoners, who is not speaking. Narine joining in on the not speaking part, since she realised none were going to be helping her. I know what she is, but she doesn’t know. I know. A small smirk plays on my lips at that thought.
“What are you thinking of, baby?” Matt asks, while kissing my temple.
“Narine and her stupidity.” I answer in a low voice. Matt chuckles.
“You found out the answers to your questions, then?” He concludes. I smile up at him and peck his lips.
‘Her mother had an affair with a male siren – a triton. Therefore, she always got people to follow her bidding. Siren song.’ Matt’s mouth hangs open in utter shock and disgust. I laugh, k**s him again, and stand up when I hear Brandon calling me forth.
“Alphas, Lunas, betas and gammas. Welcome to this gathering of our packs! I am happy to welcome you all to our lands, and I hope these days will be productive and useful. First order of business is the pecking order of packs. I understand from an earlier encounter today that most packs look down on their beta and gammas. This will change in the future. We are all pack leaders with different areas of expertise. No alpha or luna is above their fellow ranked members. I that understood?” I watch as one side of the crowd turns from confusion to disdain to utter anger and disbelief. The other side lights up, nods in approval, and cheers when I am done. They drew the lines up. Let the fight begin.
Third person P.O.V.
“Abby is right! We need to stop looking down on our fellow ranked members. It has never been that way in white mountain or the diamond pack, who is our neighbours, but I know of many where the alphas are tyrants and the lunas act like little brats towards their pack. Look at the crescent moon pack, who only had a luna for a couple of years. She swindled and took the heard earned money from her pack members to fund her own adventures of shopping. She is a terrible example of how some of you are treating your pack members and your fellow ranked members.” Benjamin speaks up. Sami puts a hand on his arms. She can feel how his temper is rising, and she needs him to stay calm and clear in the head.
“I agree with my mate. I have not been a luna for that long, but I know where things go wrong. We breed within our own ranks. Many of you, not all, but many have your fated mates as mistresses and a “pureblood” girl as your official luna. This has been a custom for a long time, but this is the time of change. I also need to remind the room. There are good and fair alphas and lunas here, where the issue lies with their ranked members. Beta and gammas who take advantage of their positions.” Sami looks around the room with confidence. She knows a lot of these people look down on her and Benjamin because she is not a “pureblooded” wolf, but transformed when marked. Making her a hybrid between vampire and wolf.
‘Sami, congratulations, btw. I totally forgot in the mingle of everything today,’ Abby says over mind-link. Sami smiles.
‘Thanks doll. We haven’t announced anything as of yet, but we will have to soon.’ She glows and sends Abby a grateful smile. She knows her wolf taddled to the Queen, but she doesn’t care. Her worry lies within her womb. She is not sure what the world will think of their little one. They even got a DNA test done, on her request, not Benjamins. Their child is theirs, but will be different in a realm of only difference.
The debate continues on. Some agree with the view of Sami and Benjamin, while others refuses to make any changes at all. When Sami made her accusation of beta and gammas using their position as a ranked member, she got a lot of not well hidden threats and not so subtle sexist comments from some men there – alphas, betas and gammas alike.

The days continued with the discussing amongst themselves. They had to come up with a new set of laws for their fraction. Abby and Matt insisted they were drawn up while having the gathering, and they made small progresses. Then on the last day of the gathering, the council arrived at the silver moon pack. Abby knew it was some of the more insistent and ignorant alphas who had called them in to tell her off. They were not approving of a hybrid girl being their Queen. Abby didn’t care. She had searched their library and the fraction library for answers regarding the council, and she had a surprise for those old and sexist men sitting there and deciding everything.
“Your highnesses.” One of the councilmen says, while only bowing for Matthew. Abby rolls her eyes.
“If we are finished ignoring me, maybe we can get a move on this, gentlemen?” She asks, while tapping her foot impatiently. The man looks he up and down, before smirking.
“I am truly sorry, my Queen, if I offended you.” He says sarcastically.
“No you are not, and stop wasting our time.” Abby bites back. She turns around without another glance on the snakes on her doorstep and walks towards the meeting room.
In there, the room is divided. Those who are all for the royals, and who have learned to respect their king and queen’s sharp wit, fast thinking and snarky comments. Abby is both fair, quick on her feet, and a fighter for equality. She will fight for what is right, no matter who she is fighting.
All packs, except green forest, blue lake and light wolf, have sworn the rulers loyalty and allegiance. That morning, however, the alpha from green forest, alpha Helias, was walking along the grounds when a enticing smell hit him. He followed it along the treeline and there in between the tree was the most beautiful woman he had ever set eyes on.
The woman turns slowly, and her eyes glow. She is a witch. He swallows, fighting to keep his wold back. She walks towards him in confidence.
“Good morning, alpha. I know you are my mate, and I know you are a firm believer in keeping the wolf community pure. So please, feel free to reject me.” Her voice is soft, sweet and full of the confidence he saw in her walk. How could he reject his perfect half? He had been searching for her for a long time, and almost given up.
Helias falls to his knees before her. Shaking his head, he looks up into her perfect light brown eyes. They look like melted caramel and go with her caramel colored hair.
“I can hear my reputation proceeds me, but if you would give me a chance, I will prove I can change. I will not reject you. You are perfect! What is your name?”
“Hannah. I am a forest witch, and I will give you a chance on one condition?” Helias nods for her to go on, hanging on the threat of sanity that she will be with him.
“You accept Abigail as our ruler. And you accept the changes coming to the packs. I will not be with some chauvinistic a*****e.” She puts her hands in her side, her voice stern and her eyes alight with resolution.
In the meeting room, Helias keeps Hannah close to his side. Growling at anyone coming close to her. When the door burst open and Abby walks in, he hurries to her.
On his knees Helias swears her allegiance and apologises for his past behavior. Abby meets the eyes of Hannah.
“You accept this knucklehead as your mate, Hannah?” She asks, a glint of amusement in her eyes, and a silent comment to Selene about her games. Hannah nods, helping her mate on his feet.
“I welcome you alpha Helias, but remember this; Hannah is family here, not only to me. She needs to talk to her coven Mother, who needs to release her. Hurt her and I will end you.” Abby states calmly and the man swallows.
“I will protect her with my life.” He says.
A minute later, Matt and the councilmen walk in. They look sour, but Abby has heard thats a permanent state.
“Well, now that everyone is gathered, I have an announcement to make. The council is hereby disbanded.” Abby states, and the room explodes in cheers and yells of disapproval.
