Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3052 Conor's Visit to Montiria
Within the walls of Montiria's royal palace, an air of calm cloaked the chaos that lurked behind the scenes.
Despite the turmoil, whispers of hope spread like wildfire upon news of King Gawain I's improving condition. This stirred a blend of emotions-happiness, unease, restlessness, and joy-among all who heard. Amidst the buzz of the kingdom, King Gawain I remained focused on the arrival of an esteemed guest.
Conor's surprise was palpable as he beheld the king. His mind raced with questions. I was told that King Gawain I was supposed to be bedridden and gravely ill. Here he is, looking vibrant and healthy.
With uncertainty, Conor greeted, "Your Majesty, I'm Conor Durham from the Durham Family. May I extend our sincerest regards and wishes for your enduring well-being." With that, his subordinates promptly presented exquisite treasures as a gesture of goodwill. Perched comfortably on his throne, King Gawain I chuckled and waved off the formalities. "No need for all that jazz. It's always a pleasure to have the Durham Family around," he quipped warmly.
Instead of focusing on the treasures, his attention drifted to the stodgy old ministers beside him. Their faces were lighting up with genuine happiness.
Unfazed by the pleasantries, King Gawain I's mind churned with suspicion as Conor paid his respects. He mused, Hmph! You're not just here to chat about Night Vine. You're probably sizing up my expiration date! Despite his inner wariness, he reassured Conor, "Thanks for your concern. I'm much better now."
After some light conversation, the dialogue naturally steered towards Night Vine.
However, both sides kept a guarded demeanor. They merely skimmed the topic's surface before swiftly wrapping up the meeting. With a polite farewell, Conor took his leave from the palace.
Stepping outside, Conor instructed, "Find out why the reports on King Gawain I's health don't match what we've heard." As he spoke, a flicker of shadow briefly danced behind him before returning to its calm state.
Meanwhile, Rocco was leaving
Toby's palace with disappointment on his face. He sighed to himself, Prince Toby shut down my proposal yet again. It seems like Clarence and Zedbar probably have sealed the deal on annexing Matthew's assets by now.
"Sigh... Looks like I'm at a standstill," Rocco murmured.
His thought then drifted to Zedbar. The Minister of Border Affairs, who's always loyal to Prince Toby, is acting strange, Everything seems normal on the surface, but my gut says otherwise. Everything spirals out of control, slipping through my fingers.
Lost in thought, Rocco was jolted back to reality when Lynette abruptly stopped in her tracks and exclaimed, "Careful, Mr. Rocco!"
With a sense of urgency, she positioned herself before Rocco and was ready to protect him immediately.
"Identify yourself! Come out now!" Lynette demanded, her voice firm and resolute.
Back then, she was armed and ready, with a dagger firmly clenched in one hand and the other hovering near her signal gun, poised to escalate things if necessary. An intense energy emanated from her, akin to a cheetah on the verge of pouncing.
Meanwhile, Rocco remained as composed as ever. He mused, Who's messing with us? How dare you ambush Prince Toby's crew?
Tensions escalated, and suddenly, tinkling laughter echoed from the bushes by the road. "Didn't think your girl would be so sharp, catching me out like that," the voice teased.
Before they knew it, a sassy, sexy figure appeared and strutted confidently.
Lynette wasted no time with small talk. With a flick of her dagger, she charged forward. In the blink of an eye, they were face to face. With steely determination, Lynette directed her dagger straight toward the mystery woman's neck. Yet, the mystery woman was no pushover. With a graceful lean-back, she avoided the strike with a foot tap.
As expected, Lynette's killer move missed its mark.
