Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3145 Crowned
Gadel radiated a murderous aura, and the Eagle Sword in his hand seemed to glow with a dark crimson hue. "What's the matter? Decided not to keep fighting?" he asked, a sneer playing on his lips as he looked at the ministers and generals kneeling in the blood-soaked mud. "We wouldn't dare," the Minister of Military Affairs replied, his voice thick with regret. "After His Majesty passed away, Iris deceived us into believing she was his chosen successor. We never imagined things would turn out this way."
His words were heavy with sorrow, tears streaming down his face as he spoke. "Iris is a fool, cruel and heartless. She's driven our kingdom into an abyss. We beg you, Your Highness Prince Gadel, to take control and restore peace to Montiria!" Arnold and Jaylen appeared by Gadel's side, their gazes icy as they surveyed the kneeling ministers.
"Do you know who these men are?" Gadel asked, pointing to Arnold and Jaylen.
The ministers raised their heads, staring blankly at the two men, but recognition failed to dawn on any of them.
The Minister of Military Affairs slowly let his eyes drift downward, taking in the details of Arnold and Jaylen's elaborate armor. When he saw the lifelike black eagles etched on their armor, a chilling realization struck him.
Rumor had it that above the commander in chief of Ebony Eagles, there were two people who never appeared among the Ebony Eagles but wielded immense power. These two were said to be the king's personal protectors. Though the Minister of Military Affairs had never seen the Eagle Knights before, he had read about them in an ancient tome from the royal library. Each Eagle Knight, armored from head to toe, was a symbol of the king's utmost trust. "Are these two... the Eagle Knights?" he asked, his voice trembling with fear. It seemed the kingdom of Montiria, only recently stabilized, was about to change once more. "What?"
"The Eagle Knights are just a myth, aren't they?"
"The legend says they only protect the king personally..."
The minister who spoke these words froze. The presence of the Eagle Knights confirmed one undeniable fact: Princess Iris was never chosen by King Gawain Las his successor. Then where did the ediet she read in court come from?
Questions began to creep into the ministers' minds about King Gawain I's death. After all, he had been in perfect health the day before. "Everyone, I had nothing to do with his death," Matthew said, clearing himself of any suspicion in King Gawain I's demise.
The ministers now understood the truth behind all that had happened.
"Princess Iris poisoned the late king
and, blinded by power, attempted to kill her own siblings, showing no regard for family ties. We, 53 ministers, plead for Prince Gadel to take the throne. You are the rightful heir chosen by the late king. Please, ascend the throne and lead us!"
With these words, the Minister of Military Affairs bowed deeply to Gadel, ignoring the blood and dust on the ground, and the others followed suit. "You may rise," Gadel said.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, for your kindness!" the crafty minister replied, immediately changing his form of address. He pulled out a carefully wrapped wooden box from his cloak. Hands trembling slightly, he unwrapped the layers to reveal a box made of fine agarwood.
Inside, nestled in red velvet, lay a golden crown adorned with precious gems. The minister handed the box carefully to Arnold, who was standing next to Gadel.
Arnold took the box and exchanged a glance with Gadel. Then, he passed the box to Jaylen and delicately lifted the crown with both hands.
Gadel took a small step back and inclined his head slightly to allow Arnold to place the crown upon him more easily.
Once the crown was secured on Gadel's head, Arnold stepped back and, with Jayden, knelt on one knee alongside all the ministers, proclaiming in unison, "Long live the king!"
Gadel stood, crowned, his clothes stained red with blood, surrounded by a grim sea of corpses and severed limbs. Amid this scene of devastation, he became the second king of Montiria!
