Stellan's voice came through, sounding weary. "Am I expecting anyone today?"

A flicker of hesitation crossed the receptionist's face before she steeled herself and continued, "He claims to be James Cunningham, father-in-law of Matthew, the Summit Warden." There was a long pause on the other end of the phone, making her uneasy. She knew she was already bending the protocols of Martial League.

"Have President Cunningham come up to my office directly," his firm voice finally responded, bringing a sense of relief to her.

After ending the call, she gestured toward the nearby elevator. "Mr. Cunningham, take the elevator to the fourth floor. Mr. Warrington's office is on your right."
