Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3411 Law Firm
Matthew walked down the street, his gaze seemingly casual but carefully observing both sides. Wooden signs were propped up in front of the various shacks, each one crudely scrawled with a description of the establishment's trade. Typically, a lone, good-looking newcomer like Matthew would have already been dragged off and sold into some shady business. But the brutal fate of the Red Shadows was still fresh in everyone's minds, keeping any potential threats at bay. Matthew's attention was suddenly drawn to one sign in particular. The writing on it was different from the rest-neat, confident strokes with an air of professionalism. The sign read, 'West Montiria Islands Law Firm.'
"A lawyer?" Matthew quirked a brow, intrigued by the idea that such a profession could survive on the West Montiria Islands.
He approached the law office and politely knocked on the wooden plank in front of the shack, calling out softly, "Hello, is anyone in?"
A faint sound came from within, followed by a cautious voice. "Who's there?"
"Hello, I'd like to consult a lawyer on a few matters."
The tension in the person's voice eased, and he replied, "Move that plank aside."
It was a protocol here if someone genuinely wanted business, they'd move the barrier themselves, keeping their hands occupied and unable to attack. If the resident opened it from the inside, it would leave them vulnerable.
"Alright." Matthew's slender hand gripped the thirty-pound board effortlessly, lifting it and placing it aside with ease. This exposed the interior, revealing a modestly tidy room and a man in an old but reasonably clean suit standing there with a serious expression.
When the man saw Matthew, a look
of surprise flickered in his eyes, followed by a respectful recognition. On this island, anyone who looked as composed as Matthew-and was still standing-was likely someone significant.
"Are you the lawyer here?" Matthew asked, noting the man's well-worn but presentable suit and the neat arrangement of the room. It suggested he was someone who valued cleanliness and order. What's more, unlike nearly everyone else on the island, the man lacked that ominous aura that often came from a life of violence-something that Matthew, trained to spot such things, could easily sense.
"Yes, I am. Do you need any legal advice?"
Matthew glanced outside at the passersby, who cast predatory looks, scanning for targets. "Is this the best place to talk?"
The lawyer seemed to catch his drift, giving Matthew an apologetic smile. "My apologies. Please, come inside."
The lawyer led the way into the small wooden office, and Matthew followed, picking up the plank and closing the door behind them.
Those outside took little notice of the interaction, their focus already back on finding other marks.
Inside the cramped hut, there was barely enough room for both Matthew and the lawyer.
"My name is Tertius Zoller," the lawyer introduced himself, setting a stack of red certificates in front of Matthew. "I'm a law graduate from Dornia."
"No need for that," Matthew replied with a slight smile. "I'm Matteo Larden, a businessman."
