Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Chapter 3426 Mack's Past

Under the night sky, the dock was alight with bonfires. Men sat on stacks of cargo, their faces beaming with smiles as they enjoyed the evening. Mack had organized a bonfire party at the dock to welcome Matthew, Tertius, and the others. Matthew sat on the edge of the dock with Mack and Tertius nearby. Mack took a skewer of roasted lamb from the fire, carefully turning it over before offering it to Matthew.

"Matteo, buddy, give my cooking a try," Mack said, grinning.

"Thanks, Mr. Mack," Matthew replied, accepting the skewer.

"Don't mention it! We're family now. How's it taste?"

"Great," Matthew nodded approvingly.

Hearing Matthew's praise, pride spread across Mack's face. "Of course! I've had practice, not just with lamb. Back when I was in the mountains, I cooked all sorts-rabbit, wild pheasant, you name it."

Curious about Mack's past, Matthew looked up. "So, what were you doing before all this, Mr. Mack?"

Mack hesitated but, seeing Matthew's steady expression, decided to share. "It's no big secret. You're a businessman, so you've probably heard of Montiria, right?"

Matthew nodded; not only had he heard of it, but he was also influential in Montiria.

"I was a forest ranger in Montiria, spending my days surrounded by the forest's plants, trees, and animals. Grew strong from all the physical work," Mack said.

Matthew glanced at Mack's

muscular build, his veins snaking

across his arms like living cords, a body far beyond that of most men While Matthew knew he could easily overpower Mack, he had to admit that Mack's strength was exceptional for someone who trained outside the usual disciplines.

"One day, during a patrol, I spotted a group of men in black setting a trap for the cub of the forest's tiger king. They'd laid out bait, and the cub's

cries soon attracted the entahet

tiger king. Those men had tranquilizer guns-they were planning to capture the tiger king. There was no time to call for help, so I rushed in. The tiger managed to save its cub, but they captured me instead."

There was no regret in Mack's voice. He had done his duty to protect the forest and its creatures.

"Didn't Montiria send anyone to look for you?" Matthew asked.

A small smile tugged at Mack's lips. "I was just a forest ranger, not someone important. They've likely written me off as dead by now. The system assumes you're dead if you miss month's check-in, and someone else probably took my

place. But I'm content here. I've got a

crew, and we've got each other's

backs."

Mack's story shifted to a musing monologue as if he were talking to himself.

In Cathay, they say, "There's no place like home, even if it's a humble one." After a pause, Matthew asked, "Mr. Mack, would you ever want to go back to Montiria?"

Mack let out a hearty laugh. "Of course, I'd go back in a heartbeat! I'd return to my old job as a ranger!"
