A loud, booming voice suddenly echoed from above the docks, and torches flared to life along them.

Mack's face, which had shown a hint of curiosity, darkened instantly.

He stood up and shouted, "Grab your weapons!"

In an instant, the cheerful bonfire atmosphere on the dock vanished without a trace.

Everyone rose to their feet, glaring furiously at the soldiers from Island Watch standing at a distance.

In their hands were a variety of guns-each polished to a high shine despite their diverse styles.

Both groups stood facing each other, eyes wide with hostility. A tense atmosphere began to spread all around. Reuben, his expression grim, stepped out from the group of Island Watch. "Are you all here to obstruct our duty?"

His tone was filled with arrogant authority, as though he could sentence everyone on the pier to death with a single word.

Mack, now wearing his vest, emerged from the crowd with a cold smile and said loudly, "Hah! What are you? How dare you cause trouble here? I'd advise you to remember what happened when Island Watch was smashed two years ago." His words made the once arrogant Reuben's face turn ugly.

Fixing Mack with a sharp stare, Reuben said in a threatening tone, "Mack, are you really going to block our investigation?"

"Obstruct? Since when do you have authority over Dock Guild?"

The tension between the two sides grew even heavier as a fight could break out at any moment brewed between them.

As he looked at Mack's mocking expression, Reuben felt like a fool. Anger twisted his face as he said loudly, "I'll say it one more time. Island Watch is enforcing the law here. No one is to interfere. This is the first warning."

No one moved on the dock. They all continued to look at Reuben with mocking expressions.

"Second warning! Is the one who hit my nephew such a coward that he doesn't even dare show his face?"

Still, silence reigned, yet both sides raised their weapons.

"Third warning..."

Just as Reuben's gaze swept around and he was about to order his men to open fire, Matthew, dressed in white, stepped forward from the crowd.

"I was the one who hit Emil."

A fight would be minor, but if anyone on his side died, it would be trouble.

Mack had stayed at the dock, hoping to shield him from Island Watch's harm.

Matthew might not need the protection, but he understood the sentiment. He couldn't stand by and let the dockworkers suffer

casualties because of this

altercation.

When Reuben saw Matthew step forward, a mocking look immediately crossed his face. "So, it's just a pretty boy after all. Who gave you the guts to hurt my nephew?"

Matthew paid no attention to Reuben's taunts, instead looking at him calmly. "Either leave, or I'll cripple you and let them carry you away."

Upon hearing Matthew's calm words, the mockery on Reuben's face turned to ice.

"How arrogant! If I lose to you today, I'll admit defeat, and Island Watch will withdraw completely. However, if you lose, you'll pay with your life to atone for my nephew."

The soldiers and captains behind Reuben sneered at Matthew.

"Captain Reuben is one of the best on this island. He once took on six men alone."
