Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3438 Deadeye Makes His Move
In the darkness, torches began to light up one by one. The Devil Guild's men, resembling a long, ominous procession, struck fear into the lurking hunters who watched from the shadows. "Are those Devil Guild people? Where are they going?"
"I don't know, but keep quiet-I don't want to end up dead."
"What could be happening to stir up such a large movement?"
The sheer scale of the group forced the onlookers to crouch closer together, exchanging whispers and signals. As they observed the direction of the march, suspicions began to form. "They're heading toward the northern dock."
"That's strange. Wouldn't it make more sense to go after the eastern dock if they were planning an attack?"
"Maybe they want to take out the northern dock quickly to absorb its strength before anyone else can intervene."
"If that's the case, aren't they worried the eastern dock might join forces with the northern dock against them?"
Deadeye led the Devil Guild's force toward the northern dock, ignoring the hidden eyes watching from the shadows. Just as they speculated, he was indeed worried about interference from the eastern dock. If that happened, not only would they fail to take the northern dock, but they might be caught in a pincer attack. The best strategy was to crush the northern dock swiftly before the eastern dock's Emberhold Syndicate could intervene.
While Deadeye raced against time, the spies who witnessed the movement hurried to report the news.
Outside the warden's quarters at the Island Watch, a spy in dark clothing spoke urgently, "Warden, there's trouble. The western dock's Devil Guild is marching on the northern dock with a full assault!" As the spy finished, the dim room brightened as a lamp flickered to life.
"Is that so? Strange that they would do that..." came a heavy voice from inside. After a pause, the voice continued. "Make a record of tonight's events as they unfold. Report it to me in the morning." "Yes, sir."
Meanwhile, at the eastern dock, where the Emberhold Syndicate gathered, a man ran to the docks, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Chief! There's a fight breaking out!"
His voice carried across the dock, rousing those who had been sleeping, and a refined-looking man in a simple shirt stepped outside. "Who's fighting? Is it the Island Watch and the Devil Guild?" he asked, his eyes glinting with a steely resolve.
He was Casimir Falkrenn, the chief of the Emberhold Syndicate.
"No, Chief-it's the Devil Guild attacking the northern dock!"
At that, Casimir's previously serious expression broke into a smile. "Is
that all? Seems Deadeye's finally lost his mind Gather everyone-we're going to step in for the love and peace of the island and stop the Devil Guild's aggression against the Veiled Assembly at the northern dock!"
Like everyone else, Casimir assumed Deadeye was simply trying to wipe out the northern dock quickly to consolidate power before challenging the eastern dock. He didn't for a second believe that Deadeye considered the newly formed Veiled Assembly a real threat.
"Men, tonight we'll play the role of righteous heroes. After tonight,
those Devil Guild thugs won't be able to stand against us anymore!" Casimir said with a smirk, donning a black cloak and lighting a cigar as he addressed his gathered Emberhold Syndicate members.
