Chapter 301 The Reaper is Closing in on Her

"That's because she has something on me."

That something, or more accurately, someone was no one else but Esmee Nelson, who was in the hands of Cecelia Linsey, thus becoming a threat against Maggie.

"That's just an excuse!"

"I know I'm incompetent compared to her, but this sudden explosion did keep her hands away from the secret collection."

"It seems that someone else, just like us, wants to obtain the Collection of Fragrant Clothes. You don't need to be worried. As long as you keep an eye on Linsey, she'll find a way to get it." "Understood, Master."

In the president's office of the Taylor Group.

After ending the call, Maggie Taylor felt the pressure in her chest growing stronger.

She wouldn't feel any relief until she got her hands on the Collection of Fragrant Clothes.

This was her punishment for betraying the sect leader all those years ago!

But no matter what, she had to deal with the troublesome Esmee Nelson first; she couldn't stand it for another day!

In the secret underground chamber in Center City.

Jersey Bowman returned here, opened the network marked with the venomous spider logo, and saw that someone had placed an order on the Bidder-Spidernet.

He pressed a button, and before long, two sisters with identical appearances appeared before him.

"Young Master!"

Jessica and Kara bowed respectfully.

These two sisters had always been Jersey Bowman's right-hand assistants, completely obedient to him alone.

"I have a mission for you two."

Jersey tapped on the desk with his slender fingers, and Kara picked up a piece of paper, quickly read it, and swallowed it.

"Understood, Young Master. We will take action immediately!"

The two sisters were about to leave, but Jersey stopped them.

"Do you have any other instructions, Young Master?"

"After the task is completed, find Cecelia Linsey. You need to find a way to stay with her, and, protect her."

He deliberately paused on the words "protect her" and emphasized them.

"Understood!"

"Protection" meant focused surveillance.

After receiving their orders, Jessica and Kara left the underground chamber.

In a secluded residence with an independent courtyard.

The gate was locked, and the resident received her daily food through delivery.

A large bag of food fell from the sky, and the sound drove Esmee Nelson to rush out of the house.

Esmee had been confined here for quite some time. No one had physically abused her, and there were no loan sharks coming after her. Apart from being unable to contact the outside world and leave this place, she found it relatively comfortable here.

She picked up the bag from the ground and opened it, finding plenty of food inside.

She thought that Remington and Cecelia were not too bad. They didn't leave her here to die.

Little did she know that the Reaper was closing in on her!

While Esmee was eating, a figure slowly emerged from the shadows behind her. Kara, with her face covered, held a thin steel wire in her hand.

Taking advantage of Esmee's unguarded moment, she suddenly tightened the wire around Esmee's neck and pulled it backward.

Esmee suddenly felt it was hard to breathe, and her hands instinctively reached for the thing strangling her neck.

She could feel someone strangling her from behind, but she didn't know who it was.

Soon, another woman appeared in front of her, her face filled with fear.

"Who are you..."

Esmee wanted to ask who the assassins were and why they were targeting her.

"Someone's paid a high price for your life!"

Jessica told her coldly.

The terrifying sensation of suffocation overwhelmed Esmee. Her face turned red, her eyes widened, and her limbs gradually lost their ability to resist. Eventually, she became limp all over, and her head drooped.

Kara released her grip, and after two exchanging a glance and nodding at each other, they started to ke acti

Several hours later, Maggie Taylor received an email in her inbox. Opening it, she found a video.

In the video, a woman lay on the ground, and at a glance, she recognized the woman as Esmee Nelson. Esmee was not only dead but had one of her hands severed.

The scene was gruesome, but it was also exhilarating.

A sinister smile crept onto Maggie's lips. Perfect! From this moment on, Cecelia Linsey had nothing, or, no one to use to threaten her!

While Maggie was watching the video, she didn't notice when her daughter, Petunia, came to find her.

Petunia came behind her mother, watching the horrifying scene on the computer screen and screamed, "Mom, what is this?"

Maggie, seeing her daughter had come, didn't avoid the situation but told Petunia directly, "This is the consequence of Esmee Nelson betraying me! Did you see it? From now on, no one can threaten me anymore!"

Maggie Taylor had done terrible things, but she had never let her daughter get involved in bloodshed.

She had protected her daughter as if Petunia were a carefree princess in a castle.

But since her daughter knew, she'd not keep Petunia from knowing the dangers of the world.

Petunia's face turned pale. "Mom, you killed her... you killed her..."

"Quiet, Petunia! I didn't personally do it. I just have paid someone to do it!"

Maggie grabbed her daughter's hand and told her slowly, word by word, "Don't be afraid, my daughter. You have to understand, those who want to achieve great things must learn to be ruthless."

"All successful persons have climbed to the top by stepping on the dead bodies of others!"

"In the future, anything you can't get, anything you hate, those stumbling blocks, you can make them disappear like this. Understand?"

Indeed, that was the case. Petunia knew that Esmee Nelson was not a good person, and she deserved what happened to her.

Petunia calmed down and thought of someone. She said ruthlessly, "Mom, I hate Cecelia Linsey. Can we make her disappear like this?"

"Of course not!"

"Why not?"

"She must stay alive! I can only get what I want when I have both volumes of the secret collection."

"They say the collection contains the treasure of the ancient emperor's tomb. Mom, do you also want it?"

"No, I'm not after the treasure. You'll see as the days go."

The next day, at the hospital.

Cecelia went to visit Verda Hill, who was recovering quite well. When she saw Cecelia, he insisted on being discharged.

"Miss Linsey, can I be discharged now? I feel like I'm perfectly fine!"

Verda sat on the bed, trying to look energetic.

Cecelia glanced at him. "You wish. Whether you can leave or not, it's not my decision. You can go only when the doctor says so."

"That's right. You prick better stay in the hospital!" Everest Theodore agreed, pushing Verda back onto his pillow. Verda let out a cry, "Miss Linsey, look, she's bullying me."

"Is that so? Didn't they say that fighting is a form of affection?"

"...," Verda blushed inexplicably at Cecelia's words.

What Cecelia said made Everest's face turn red as well. "Cecelia, don't say such things. There's nothing between me and him."

"Alright, I was just joking. Take care of him. You've done well, and I'll double your bonus later!"

"Thank you, Cecelia!"

After exchanging greetings with the two of them, Cecelia left the ward. As soon as she stepped out, she saw two familiar figures waiting outside the door. "Jessica, and Kara? What are you doing here?"
