Married On Paper To The Billionaire -
Chapter 40: All Hell Breaks Loose
"I'm so sorry, Emilia. I can't even imagine how disappointed you must feel right now."
She blew her nose into a tissue and acknowledged Matt's comment with a nod. She was too broken to even speak. She was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted.
"Let's just go back to the hotel, ok? You need to rest."
"Of course," she sighed and leaned back on the chair.
Matt drove them back and the ride was a silent one. At this point, Emilia was ready to give up the search permanently and finally accept the hard truth that she would never see Tiara again. When they arrived at the hotel, Matt took her to her room and asked her if she wanted anything.
"Stay with me," she whispered. "I don't want to be alone."
"Are you scared?"
"No. I think I'll lose my mind if I have to stay here by myself all night."
"Ok. I'll stay. Are you hungry?"
"No."
"You have to eat something, Emilia. You barely touched your burger the other time and you haven't eaten anything since then."
"Neither have you."
"Yeah and I'm hungry."
"Fine, go ahead and order some food. Anything is fine, I don't care."
His mobile phone rang and when he looked at it, he pressed the power button to mute the call.
"Who is it?" Emilia asked.
"Molly."
She chuckled. "Your fiancée was right. You can't tell a lie. You could've told me it was someone else but you didn't."
He shrugged. "I hate being a liar."
"But you don't mind being an adulterer."
"I haven't married Molly yet."
"But you will."
"Maybe."
"What does that mean?"
"I thought I was in love with her, I was convinced that I was..."
"Was? Have you stopped loving her?"
"I don't know. The moment I set eyes on you at your grandmother's funeral... all the old feelings I'd suppressed for years came rushing back. Now, I don't even know how I feel about Molly anymore." She liked his honesty. There was no beating around the bush with him, he was direct and straight to the point.
"She's crazy about you though and you also have to think about your career too."
"Yeah, her father is my boss. She never lets me forget that."
They were silent for a few minutes before Emilia spoke again. "You know you can't fall in love with me. I'm still a married woman."
"You can divorce your husband. He doesn't deserve you," he answered without hesitation.
"It's not that simple, Matt. We can't keep divorcing each other whenever we hit a rough patch in our marriage."
"Then why did you leave?"
"Because we needed space from each other. Sometimes, that's necessary."
"If you were mine, you would never need any space from me. We'd always be together even when we're mad at each other."
Damn... it was hard not to fall for Matt. Emilia leaned forward on the bed where she was lounging and pulled him close. He was sitting on the edge of the bed but he willingly went into her arms and accepted her offered kiss.
This was so wrong but Emilia refused to think about it right now. She will deal with the guilt later but for now, she needed to bask in Matt's generous affection for her.
They made love feverishly as if they'd been starved of each other. When it was over, they ordered dinner which was brought to the room. After they'd eaten, they made love again.
When Emilia woke up the next morning, Matt was still asleep. She crept out of bed to go to the bathroom to do her business and take a shower. When she returned, he was awake. "Good morning, sunshine. Did I wake you?"
"No," he replied with a yawn. "Your phone was buzzing nonstop. Someone really wants to talk to you."
"It might be Kane," she said and picked up her phone from the nightstand where she'd left it the night before. True to her prediction, it was him.
"Where the hell are you, Emilia?" He barked at her.
"Excuse you, don't yell at me like that. What do you want?"
"Do you realize that I haven't spoken to my son in days?"
"Yes. Don't worry about him, he's fine."
"He better be."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"No, the right question is, what on earth do you think you're doing?"
Emilia froze. Had he found out about her and Matt? How? Who told him?
"What?" She asked him tentatively.
"How could you stoop so low? Do you realize how this is going to destroy our marriage and ruin our reputation? Have thought about our family before you did it?"
She swallowed hard. She'd been sloppy and he'd found out about her and Matt. Was it the old woman at the diner that ratted her out? Was she a spy?
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said and winced. That was the first line of defense when denying an accusation.
"Is that so? You're the only one who has the photos besides Serena and she wouldn't leak them because she knows what will be at stake if she tried it." "Wait, what?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Emilia. The photos you leaked are all over the internet right now and my media team have been working their ass off to wipe them off cyberspace!"

He sighed. "Fine, I'll play along with you. Those photos that Serena took of me and her in my study on the night... well, on that night, have been leaked online. I thought you did it. Did you?" "No! I would never do such. Why would I?"
"I don't know, maybe to punish me."
"There are different ways I could punish you without embarrassing myself in the process. I didn't do that. Go and ask your baby mama if she did it. That's more her style, not mine." "She's not my baby mama. Don't ever call her that again."
"Ok, she's Jack's baby mama then. Isn't that what you and your family are telling the world? Come on, Kane. How could you use your dead brother like that?"
"I didn't call you to judge me. You chose to jump ship and I'm just doing what needs to be done to protect our family."
"I didn't jump ship, you all drove me out with your disrespect. I will not return to that mansion until Serena is out of there and locked behind bars for her crime." "Suit yourself," he said and hung up.
"Ugh, the audacity!" She groaned in anger. "How dare he?"
"What's the matter?" Matt asked her.
"Nothing new, just Kane being Kane and trying to throw me under the bus as usual."
"That guy is a classic bum. What did you ever see in him?"
She sighed. "I don't even remember. Come on, get up and get freshened up. We need to head back to Wyoming. Our time here is up."
"Sure. Gimme a few minutes."
They had breakfast in the room and Matt joked that they should get a refund for his room since it wasn't used at all. Afterwards, they went to the airport and took a flight back to Wyoming.
Emilia suggested that Matt should drop off at his place first but he insisted on accompanying her to Granny's place and then he'd go home from there.
As their taxi pulled up on Granny's driveway, both of them sucked in a breath at the same time when they saw Molly sitting on the porch, waiting.
"Oh, shit..." Matt muttered. "Maybe you should stay in the car, let me go and talk to her."
"No. Let's just tell her what we traveled to Norwalk for. She doesn't have to know the rest of what happened."
"Doesn't matter, she going to cause a scene and I don't want her to embarrass you."
"It's fine. I can handle myself," she said and got out of the car immediately. She paid the taxi driver while Matt brought out their bags from the back seat.
"Welcome back, lovebirds. I was beginning to wonder if your honeymoon would continue for another couple of days," said Molly jovially.
She was dressed in a purple romper and her feet were encased in a pair of lavender and white sneakers. Her hair was held in a bun with a purple and lavender scrunchie that made Emilia want to roll her eyes. Was this lady still in high school or what?
"Hi, Molly," Matt greeted her warmly and approached the porch.
"Don't you dare 'hi, Molly' me. How dare you! After you promised to stay away from her and focus on us, you went back again!"
"It's not what you think, Molly. I was just trying to help her - "
"Do what? Oil the dry patch between her legs?"
As you reach the final pages, remember that 000005s.com is your destination for the complete story. Share the joy of reading with others and spread the word. The next chapter is just a visit away! Matt turned red. "Molly -"
"Hush! I have had enough of this nonsense with you. I practically have to beg to get a kiss from you but you never hesitated to hop into bed with this prostitute when she calls you. All she has to do is whistle and you just show up by her side like a loyal dog."
"It's not like that..." Emilia began to say but Molly silenced her with a blazing look.
"You shameless woman. You even have the nerve to talk to me?"
"Molly, you're causing a scene," Matt said, indicating the neighbors who were already cleverly hanging around to catch an earful of the exchange while pretending to water their plants or fix something on their lawns.
"I don't care!" She retorted. "Let everyone hear about your disgraceful sexual relationship with a married woman!"
Emilia wished the earth would open up and swallow her. Maybe she should have waited in the taxi after all. Her public disgrace was about to be epic, thanks to the loudmouthed Molly.
"You know what, you two deserve each other. You don't deserve me, Matt. I'm too good for you. This shameless, used-up woman is the one you need in your miserable, boring life!"
She removed her engagement ring from her finger and threw it at Matt. It hit him on his right temple before he could dodge it.
Molly descended from the porch and stormed past him. When she passed Emilia, she glared at her and said, "You won't get away with this."
Emilia didn't know what to say. She stepped out of the way for Molly to pass and then hurried up the porch to the front door to unlock it and flee inside.
"I'm so sorry, Matt," she apologized to him when they were settled in the kitchen.
"Please, don't apologize. You've just saved me from going into a bad marriage."
"Don't say that. Molly isn't a bad person, we were the ones that provoked her to anger."
"Still, I'm glad she's out of the way now and we can finally be together."
"Aren't you forgetting something? I'm still married."
"Barely. Kane would gladly grant you a divorce right now if you ask for it."
She sighed. "I don't know... I'm not sure if that's what I want right now."
"Are you kidding? After everything that has happened? After how he has treated you poorly?"
"You know what... give me some time to think about it, ok? I don't want to make any hasty decisions."
"Fair enough."
He offered to stay with her but she refused and told him she could stay alone. She video-called Chloe and got to speak to Travis who was super excited to see her.
Later that evening, Chloe sent her links to some blog posts showing that Lillian and Samuel were having their vow renewal ceremony at that moment in a lavish mansion in the Hamptons. Once again, Emilia felt insulted that she wasn't invited but she wasn't surprised either.
She knew they were doing it to divert everyone's attention from the compromising photos of Kane and Serena that leaked in the morning. This ceremony was originally planned for the following month.
"What a bunch of clowns," she scoffed and switched off her phone for the night.
She didn't remember to switch on her phone the next day until noon. When she did, she was bombarded with images that made her coffee mug slip from her hand and land on the floor, breaking into pieces. Emilia was so shocked by what she was seeing that she didn't even feel the burn of the hot coffee splashing on her feet.
