Married On Paper To The Billionaire
Chapter 58: A Secret Admirer?

"I really enjoyed our vacation but it does feel good to be back home," Emilia sighed happily one week later as she relaxed in the family swimming pool with Lillian. Their children were in the kiddies' swimming pool nearby with their nannies and swimming instructors.

"I can tell you had a great time. You're glowing like a crystal ball."

"I am? Gee, thanks."

"I envy you. I wish I can go on a vacation too."

"Why not?"

Lillian sighed heavily. "This divorce negotiation with Samuel is becoming a pain in the ass. We have another mediation scheduled for next week with our attornies." "What's going on?"

"That greedy son-of-a-bitch wants spousal support and is demanding a piece of some of my properties." "What!"

"I can't believe his audacity. What makes him think he's entitled to anything that belongs to me?"

"Did you two sign a prenup?"

"Unfortunately, no. I wanted to, but Mother said it wasn't necessary because Samuel was marrying me for love and that our marriage would last forever. Imagine that!" "It's not her fault. She was merely hoping for the best for you two.'

"Well, see where that got me. Now, I have to fight tooth and nail to keep that thief from taking a slice of my fortune."

Emilia could see how this situation was stressing Lillian out and her heart went out to her sister-in-law.

"You know what, I think we're due for a little retail therapy to make us feel better."

"I appreciate your enthusiasm, Emilia, but I'm not in the mood."

"Oh, my goodness, you must be really feeling down to turn down a shopping spree offer."

"I know... I'm so angry right now."

"Don't be. Let your lawyers worry about that. That's what you pay them for."

"I guess so..."

"Come on, let's get out of here. A few designer bags and some Cartier jewellery will cheer you up, so let's go get them, sis."

Lillian grinned. "You know my weakness, don't you? I can never say no to shopping in Cartier. Let's go!"

When they got back home from their shopping spree, Kane was back home from the office and Emilia was more than happy to off her new outfits and accessories.

"And here is the star of the moment," she said dramatically as she pulled out a grey leather bag with faux fur trimmings on the edge. "meet my new Birkin!"

A piece of paper fell out of the paper bag when she removed her new handbag from it. It landed on the floor beside the chaise lounge where she was sitting with Kane. "What's that?" He asked.

She picked up the paper and read the words written on it; "I will never stop loving you. You're mine."

"Huh? Is that from the store?"

"I don't think so. This is a handwritten note but I don't recognize the handwriting."

"Let me see."

She gave him the paper and he studied it. "It could be someone just messing with you. I wouldn't take it seriously."

"But how did they have access to my shopping bag?"

"What if it fell from the hands of one of the boutique attendants who helped you pack your shopping?"

"What if it's not?"

"So, what are you saying? That you have a secret admirer?"

"Or a stalker?"

Kane laughed. "Stop being melodramatic, Emilia. It can't be that serious."

"What if it is? I think we should report this to the police right away."

"Are you being serious right now? What will we tell them? This is probably just a prank."

"My gut says it isn't."

"Fine. I'll call the police but I'm sure this doesn't mean anything."

He was proven right when a police officer showed up, studied the note and told them it wasn't something to worry about until it became a pattern.

"See? I told you," Kane said. "stop being so paranoid."

"Ok, sorry. I didn't mean to cause a fuss," she said, feeling silly.

The following week, she was in the playroom with her children when one of the maids showed up with a mail for her.

"Harry says this mail is for you," said Rebecca the maid.

"Thank you, Rebecca," she said and accepted the small envelope.

She turned it over and saw her name written on the back in that same handwriting on the note from the shopping bag. Her breath caught in her throat and she called back the maid who was already leaving. "Hold on, Rebecca. How did Harry get this?"

"It was in the mailbox. He gave this one to me while he was sorting the mail."

"He couldn't have known who delivered it then. You can go, thank you."

After the maid left, Emilia opened the envelope with shaky hands. There was a small note inside with only a few words written on it.

"I love you forever. You will be mine again."

The words sent chills down her spine because they sounded like threats. She picked up her smart phone and began to surf the internet, looking for a specific website.

When she found it, she searched for a contact email address and located it at the bottom of the page. She immediately copied it and feverishly sent a message to the address.

She got a response almost immediately. It was an automated response telling her that Chad was overseas at the moment but would respond to her email when he was available. "He's not the one," she whispered to herself.

As you reach the final pages, remember that 000005s.com is your destination for the complete story. Share the joy of reading with others and spread the word. The next chapter is just a visit away! She held onto the cryptic note all day until Kane came back home from his business trip to Canada. He knew something was wrong even before she spoke.

"What is it?" He asked cautiously.

"I received another note today."

"From who?"

"I don't know but the handwriting is the same."

"Ok, this is not funny anymore. How did you get it this time?"

"It came with the rest of the mail," she said and handed the envelope to him.

"Whoever is doing this is probably just trying to annoy us."

"Could it be Serena?"

"Why would she profess undying love to you? If it was addressed to Lillian, I'd understand."

Emilia chuckled even though the situation wasn't quite funny.

"What if it's that ex-boyfriend of yours that we ran into in St. Barths?"

"He's not the one. I went to his website to get his official email and I sent him a message to ask if he's the one behind this?" "And?"

"I got an automated response immediately, telling me that he's overseas and would respond to my email when he returned."

"We still can't completely rule him out. I'll get in touch with the police right away. Let's find out who's playing this dirty trick on us."

The police showed up shortly after and when they studied the note and compared it to the previous one, they concluded that it was written by the same person.

"I find it very disturbing that it was delivered to our residential mailbox," said Kane.

"That was why I wondered if it could be Serena," said Emilia. "who else would have the nerve to pull such a stunt?"

"She wouldn't dare. She has no more bargaining chips."

"Don't worry about it, Mr and Mrs Beaumont," said the cop. "This is probably an obsessed fan stalking you. It could be just a harmless adoration." "What if it isn't?" Emilia asked.

"We'll be on the lookout for the stalker from now on," he assured her.

"How about putting our home under surveillance until the stalker is caught?" Kane asked. "I strongly believe that whoever it is will show up again soon."

"That's a good suggestion and we'll take it up, Mr Beaumont. You have nothing to worry about."

Despite the police's assurance, Emilia still felt on edge. She hated knowing that she was being watched by someone she couldn't see. It made her feel exposed and vulnerable.

Kane could see how jumpy she was becoming and it worried him. He stopped going to the office as often as he used to and switched to virtual meetings in his home office so that he could be with his family constantly. Emilia didn't receive any more strange notes for a couple of weeks and she began to relax. When Elsie's 70th birthday rolled in, the family traveled to the Hamptons to celebrate the occasion at their seaside mansion. "I know I shouldn't say this but it feels weird not having Samuel among us anymore," said Elsie one evening.

They all relaxed together in front of a faux bonfire in the backyard of their Hamptons mansion.

"I pride myself in being a good judge of character, but he had me fooled for years," she continued. "I never really liked him, but he seemed like he was truly in love with you. That was why I was rooting for you two." "It's ok, Mother. I know you meant well," said Lillian. "I can't wait to be finally rid of him."

"How are the divorce negotiations going?" Kane asked her.

"He won't be getting any share of my fortune but his lawyers and mine agreed to let him have a fraction of what he demanded as spousal support."

"Why is he even getting anything? He's still making money from his clinic, isn't he?" Emilia asked.

"Well, according to them, he had become accustomed to a certain lifestyle while he was married to me and he wanted to maintain that but his income wouldn't be enough to sustain that."

"He's such a greedy human being," Elsie hissed distastefully. "he's not even fighting to have custody of Crystabel."

"All he cares about is my money," said Lillian. "Crystabel is better off without him, anyway. It's not like he cared about her that much, to begin with."

"Well, I'm glad that's almost over. It's time to look forward to a brighter future," said Elsie, picking up her wine glass. "Let's toast to a happy future."

Everyone raised their glasses and joined the toast, clinking their wine glasses and drinking happily. When they returned to the Beaumont mansion after their week-long break, Emilia felt relaxed and rejuvenated. "Home sweet home," she sighed on their first night back.

"I didn't realize just how much we needed that break until we reached the Hamptons," said Kane. "all that drama about the stalker was starting to make us jittery every day."

"I'm glad that's over," she said. "now, it's time to plan Crytabel's 11th birthday party."

"There's always a party happening in this household," Kane laughed.

"Better than planning a funeral."

"That's true."

The following day, Kane had to go to the office because he had an important stakeholder meeting to attend and he didn't want to participate virtually.

"I can imagine how much you've missed physical meetings," said Emilia. "I'm glad we're back to living our normal lives."

"Ditto," he said and left for the office.

By lunchtime, Harry tracked her down to the library to deliver an envelope to her. It was the same size as the last one she got and her name was once again handwritten on the back.

"Who gave this to you?" She asked.

"The gardener found it hanging between the hedges near the front gate. Someone must have flung it over the fence."

She sighed and accepted the envelope. "Thank you, Harry. You can go now."

"Of course, ma'am," he said and disappeared.

Emilia gingerly opened the envelope and removed the small note inside. This time, the message on the paper was longer than the previous ones.

"My sweet, sweet, Emilia. Being without you has been torturous. It feels so good to see you again. I cannot wait to have you in my arms once more. I am patiently counting down until that time comes. Whether the world likes it or not, you WILL be mine again and this time, it will be FOREVER!"
