Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1042
"Clang."
The servant's clumsy drop jolted King back to the present from his torrid memories. Honestly, there wasn't much worth reminiscing about-it was just him offering her the world on a silver platter, only for her to keep seeking an escape. Her disdain for him was blatant, hitting him with words as cold and cutting as winter frost. His usual ruthless and calculated demeanor, so effortlessly displayed in front of others, crumbled to pieces in front of her icy-hearted resolve. It wasn't until he found a child abandoned in a dumpster that he realized his colossal mistake. When he first saw her under that tree, the spark in her eyes wasn't for him but for the face he wore. His looks had been deemed among the most enviable by fashion magazines, outshining even the most popular Western celebrities.
Maybe, on that fateful night, her eyes did light up momentarily, but he had mistaken it for affection. It wasn't. But this time, King got it wrong. He was always so sure of everything, except when it came to her, constantly getting it wrong.
It was indeed Brielle's affection, but it was for Max, not him. How could she possibly have feelings for Max, even throwing herself at him? And Max-he didn't resist, succumbing to the moment with clear-headed abandon.
King was filled with intense loathing. He couldn't believe it. Like his mother, he had fallen for someone heartless. He thought coldly, it didn't matter. Unlike his helpless mother, he had power, and there was still time. He could slowly make her realize who she should love. He was willing to teach her, even if it meant through pain and hurt, engraving his affection into her very bones. Maybe one day, he would carve that heartless heart out of her fragile chest. The deeper her love for Max, the more absurd he found it.
The very person who fought to leave
him was now enamored with another aspect of him. Later, when
Brielle and Max headed to Beaconsfield College together, he realized she had been drawn to Max from the start-drawn to that cold, distant facade of a man. So, when they met abroad, the light in her eyes wasn't because of his striking appearance but because she saw
Max, and that was it.
He had been fooling himself all along. What a humiliating realization. Brielle, why couldn't you like me, even just a little?
His schemes in Beaconsfield became even more deranged, vowing to use pain to remind Brielle who could truly protect her. She had always been looking forward to reuniting with her family, hadn't she? So, he decided to eliminate Dustin completely before that reunion could happen.
That led to the standoff between Kenzo and Dustin, guns drawn. At that moment, King was in a state of madness-a jealous lunatic wielding power, wishing to disrupt the entire town of Beaconsfield. Kenzo must have had feelings for Brielle too, his gentleness utterly nauseating.
King despised him, just as he
despised those classmates who confessed to Brielle. So, when Kenzo moved against Dustin, he
deliberately lured Daisy to the scene of their confrontation. Otherwise, how could Daisy, a mere hypocrite, stumble upon Kenzo and Dustin pointing guns at each other?
That night, Daisy hid in the shadows, too terrified to breathe, watching in horror as her usually gentle son confronted Dustin, the CEO of Infinity Brilliance. Unfortunately, Daisy was too weak, fainting shortly after.
King was proud, knowing Daisy
would tell Alivia about Kenzo's
actions. Alivia, already defeated and
begging Jaired for help, would
certainly use this information as a bargaining chip with Jaired. And Jaired, who thrived on chaos would be delighted by the turmoil in Beaconsfield and share the news with Brielle without hesitation.
See, every step of his plan was perfect. In the end, Brielle would distance herself from Kenzo. He despised every man who came near her, but most of all, he despised Max.
