Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1044
When Brielle got back to the villa, her mind was still a whirlwind of emotions. She was desperate for Max to return, but King was definitely not keen on relinquishing control of their shared body. The big question was whether Max's personality even still existed. Given King Surviving that inferno, probably figuring out Antonio was behind the explosion and that there was a way out down the cliff, was nothing short of miraculous.
was alive, it likely meant Max had taken a severe hit.
Brielle felt torn. To negotiate with King, she needed to find his Achilles' heel. But did King even have one? Their child? She couldn't bear to use the child as leverage, not when he bore such a striking resemblance to Max.
So far, King's only apparent weakness was his past lover, a woman whose face was unknown to anyone but King himself, according to the mansion's staff.
It seemed she had no choice but to get closer to King to uncover the truth. But was King going to give her that chance?
Lost in thought on the couch, Brielle was snapped out of her reverie when Dustin walked in, announcing, "The tracker pinged a new location, then vanished. Must've been Kenzo catching on."
Apart from a brief exchange between Kenzo and the professor, Dustin hadn't uncovered much. The only lead they had was the tracker's last known location.
"You found something, Skylark?" he asked, sitting beside her, his concern palpable.
Brielle wasn't ready to dive into the complexities of dissociative identity disorder, a phenomenon not unheard of in medical circles, with reported cases of individuals hosting up to a dozen personalities. How science explained that was beyond her.
"Bro, where's this new place? I'll go with you," she declared, ready to face whatever came next.
Without hesitation, Dustin shared the location, and they hit the road again.
The place was more secluded than they expected, already swarming with Dustin's people by the time they arrived. Dustin led the way, pushing open the door to reveal a room that sent chills down Brielle's spine-a massive poster of herself hung on the wall.
Anyone would be creeped out by finding their likeness adorning the wall of a stranger's hideout. Brielle instinctively stepped back, noticing the poster, along with everything else was destroyed. No prizes for guessing Kenzo was behind this mess.

"Look around for any other clues," Dustin instructed his men, who immediately began scouring the room.
Everything there was connected to Brielle-books she'd read, clothes she'd discarded, even the heels she wore at a gala, protected under a glass dome next to a tiara.
Picking up the shoe, she realized the extent of the collector's obsession. This wasn't the work of someone who'd then destroy their own collection. The vandal could only be Kenzo.
The tracker's last known location was here, suggesting Kenzo spent hours wreaking havoc before disappearing.
Brielle's mind raced to the one person who could have amassed such a collection-Myles. The realization that Myles had been collecting items related to her, including that oversized poster, hinted at an unsettling affection. But why? She hardly knew Myles.
Rubbing her temples, Brielle's gaze fell on a bottle of prenatal vitamins half-consumed, along with iron supplements and pregnancy-safe medication, all partially used.
She'd recognized everything else in
the room as hers, from glasses
she'd used at restaurants to personal belongings. She'd thought this place was a shrine of sorts, a collection to satisfy some bizarre obsession of Myles'.
But these medications? When had she ever taken them?
