Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1047
Brielle didn't say much until she made her way upstairs. Once there, she turned to the housekeeper and asked, "Who might that be?"
Surely, she couldn't be the woman King once liked. This one seemed way too eager, unlike the one who left voluntarily.
"She's a friend of the master," the housekeeper said, not offering anything more.
Brielle nodded and decided to wait for King to return. Instead of chasing after the truth elsewhere, she figured it was better to stay close to him.
Meanwhile, King was sitting at a table, propping his head up with one hand. Across from him was an elderly man named Ronald, who had followed King to North America after stabilizing affairs in Saudi Arabia. King's face was hidden behind a mask, a clear sign of his guarded nature. Ronald, with his sharp eyes, knew better than to try and peek. The mask was sacred, and he wasn't about to test King's fiery temper. Ronald had once schemed against another royal, causing her downfall-a fact King seemed to overlook. After all, King had been just a kid at the time, and his focus was now on power, leaving him unaware of Ronald's betrayal of his mother. Feeling a bit smug, Ronald thought King's naivety worked in his favor. "King, according to our plan, it's time to target the Lynch family. Dustin's too smart to be brainwashed-he's a dead end. But Brielle, she's their weak spot, and we can use that." Ronald's words hung in the air as King swirled his glass of red wine, pondering. "Ronald, you've been a mentor to me in the Dorsey family. Even though I haven't returned to our Saudi roots, your high standing in the family means I should listen to you."
Despite being exiled from the Dorsey
family for his treachery, King had never reconnected with his maternal side, holding onto a sliver of mercy because of his mother's good relations with the family. Ronald chuckled to himself, thinking King was foolish for not delving into the family's old grudges.
But Ronald knew he couldn't challenge King outright, given his own shaky position.
"King, with Max out of the picture, it's time to settle old scores. If you want to torment him beyond the grave, targeting his beloved Brielle would do the trick. She was head over heels for Max. By capturing her and using the Lynch family, the diamond mines could be yours, leaving Max restless in his afterlife. Two birds, one stone."
King's lips curled into a sly smile as he thought of an even more twisted plan. "Ronald, your idea has merit, but humiliating Max directly sounds better. Imagine making Brielle fall for me-the agony it would cause him. Placing his photo in front of us as I take his woman would be far more satisfying, don't you think?"
Ronald, knowing full well King's extreme and sometimes perverse thinking, didn't care as long as Brielle became a pawn in their game.
"This approach works too. As long as the Lynch family knows Brielle is under our control, they'll hesitate to act. Seamus is already busy poisoning Raymond against Dustin. If we can turn father and son against each other in the Lynch family, taking control of them will be a
piece of cake."
