Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1051
Indeed, he was in control of this body, but the way Brielle had called out just now had his soul trembling.
Max wasn't dead, merely in a deep slumber.
And to think, he believed he was gone for good. So, was he that smitten with Brielle? Even in his sleep, in the midst of recovery, he seemed desperate to reunite with her.
Getting rid of Max proved far too complicated. If Max faced true death, he too would find himself staring down the same fate.
The fire had only weakened him.
King lit another cigarette, his aura of brutality sweeping from his head down to his very hair in an instant.
Being the same person, just with differing personalities, why did Max win her affection while he got nothing? How was that fair?
Well, if that's the case, then nobody gets to have it easy.
He leaned back, his Adam's apple moving sensuously as he crushed the cigarette between his fingers.
Timing Brielle's expected arrival downstairs, he called over Kailee.
Kailee had a thing for him, or she wouldn't have followed him all the way from Saudi Arabia to North America.
Coming from the well-regarded Sanchez family in North America, she had met King during a visit to Saudi Arabia. Despite never having seen King's face, her pursuit was relentless. Now, she even sacrificed her dignity, frequently visiting to see little Isaac, proving her determination.
Having known King for so long without so much as holding hands, and receiving nothing but coldness from him, Kailee found solace in winning over Isaac. Thankfully, the boy took quite well to her. Aside from King, Isaac listened to her the most.
She didn't forget to regularly diminish the woman who had abandoned him in Isaac's presence.
"Little cricket, did your daddy ever tell you where that woman is now?"
Isaac, naturally slow to grasp emotions and struggling to speak a full sentence, didn't really pick up on Kailee's instigation, thinking she was merely making conversation. "Dead, daddy said."
Kailee's eyes lit up. She hadn't heard about the woman's demise, but the thought of King having a child with someone who so heartlessly left him irked her.
King was a catch, and that woman's inability to see it was her loss.
Kailee wasn't fond of Isaac, given he was another woman's child, but winning him over was essential.
"Little cricket, must be hard, never having seen your mommy. But don't worry, I'll always be here for you."
Her eyes gleamed with triumph as she took his hand.
"Imagine, if I became your mommy, wouldn't you be happy?"
Isaac only showed emotion with King. At Kailee's words, his brows furrowed slightly, and he beckoned his leopard closer.
The leopard, graceful in its approach, came to his side, flicking its tail.
Isaac hugged its neck, nuzzling affectionately.
"Noir, mommy."
Kailee failed to grasp his meaning, only to hear Isaac continue.
"Mommy, mommy, Noir is mommy."
Kailee's face darkened instantly.
Cursed by his secluded upbringing in the castle, Isaac had seen no one but KingBefore arriving here, lacking most basic understanding
even
the
that human mothers were, in fact, human, not animals of a different species.
Unable to clarify right then, Kailee wished she could eliminate the leopard.
But the leopard, ferocious to outsiders, could be horrific in its true nature without Isaac.
Daring not to provoke it, Kailee tried another tactic.
"But Noir can't talk to you, I can. Your daddy's hardly around, you need someone to look after you."
Isaac released the leopard.
"No need, to talk."
That effectively shut down anything Kailee hoped to say.
Frustrated Kailee seized the
moment when a servant informed her that the master was summoning her, ber eyes lighting up as she hurried downstairs.
Isaac remained in the room, patting Noir's head lovingly.
The leopard, adoring him, nestled close, occasionally rolling about like a domestic cat.
Isaac smiled, his thoughts drifting to the Australian he'd seen a few times.
Beautiful.
Just like Noir.
Eyes sparkling.
Meanwhile, Kailee reached the living room, her heart skipping a beat, at the sight of the masked man on the sofa.
swno!
Could this be the night something happens between her and King?
If only she'd gone for a beauty treatment that morning.
Regretting her lack of preparation, she excitedly sat beside him, her cheeks flushing.
"King, are you—"
Before she could finish, the man abruptly pulled her close.
At the same moment, Brielle arrived at the stairway, her gaze narrowing at the scene before her.
