Moving to the manor took less than an hour. Isaac had been here before and knew the place like the back of his hand. The moment they arrived, he whisked Noir off to the backyard.

Behind the manor was a hill that led to the highlands. When Dad wasn't around, Isaac used to take Noir on little adventures up there. Now, back at the manor, Isaac was over the moon, disappearing in a flash.

Brielle, on the other hand, felt uneasy the minute she walked in. The space was vast, but she felt suffocated, like she was trapped in a maze of panic she'd never escape. She clung to King, her hands tightening as she scanned the surroundings warily.

The manor was pretty empty; apart from the occasional servant delivering meals, there were no outsiders. Outside, though, there were plenty of bodyguards and cleaning staff. This emptiness made Brielle even more uneasy, and King gently placed her on the couch. "Take a rest for a bit," he said, his voice soothing..

Brielle was clearly not a fan of the place, but King tried to comfort her, gently stroking her back. "This place is beautiful, isn't it? We could even have our wedding here."

Wedding?

Brielle looked up, surprised, seeing the hopeful look in his eyes. "If you're willing, that is."

Brielle didn't know what to say. She was at a loss for words.

"Brielle, talk to me," King said, sounding like he was talking to himself more than her.

Brielle felt a pang of pain and, having ditched her company for this, was in no mood to indulge his quirks. "Give me my phone. I was supposed to be in a meeting today, and now the whole company is waiting for me." King's tone softened as he held her. "You're not lying to me?"

"Mhm."

King breathed a sigh of relief and handed her the phone. "But you have to make the call in front of me."

It was an over-the-top request, but Brielle agreed. Just as she turned on her phone, an unknown number called. Thinking it might be someone from the company, she answered.

King sat on the couch, holding her

close, his arm around her waist, looking inseparable, his expression tinged with happiness. Seeing him like that, Brielle's heart softened a bit. It was hard to stay mad at that face, especially when King wore his emotions so openly around her.

She turned her attention to the call, hearing a stranger's voice. "Ms. Brielle."

Brielle exhaled, assuming it was someone from the company. "Yes, what's the matter?"

"There's not much, but there's an issue with that female doctor."

Female doctor? What female doctor?

Brielle thought of the doctor her brother had mentioned, but what did this have to do with company matters?

"Ms. Brielle, the doctor had an incident, and the child that was lost seems to have survived. Someone is investigating you."

Brielle was completely lost, about to object when a loud noise came through, and the call abruptly ended. The caller's fate seemed grim.

Staring at the ended call, Brielle

knew it wasn't a mistake since the

person had addressed her as Ms. Brielle. The lost child? Whose fost child? The doctor her brothe was investigating lost a child?

It wasn't strange for Brielle to think this way; she often received incomplete snippets of information, leading to confusion. Just as she was about to redial, she sensed a shift inthe atmosphere. The man holding her radiated a dark,

met

oppressive aura, making her whole body uncomfortable, as if even her bones were about to shatter.
