Tonight, Brielle and King had shared a cozy dinner and then settled down on the couch together. King's insistence on not going to work wasn't just talk.

"What are you staring at?" she asked.

King chuckled softly and sighed. "This feeling of being taken care of, not having to do anything, just being lazy-it's nice."

Brielle almost burst into laughter but managed to turn her head away, her eyes twinkling with amusement, though her tone remained unchanged. "Ambitious," she teased.

King closed his eyes, a peaceful expression on his face. This was a scenario he had never dared to dream of. Being with Brielle at this moment, not disliked by her, sometimes felt like living a dream.

"Little Canary, if I don't go to work, would you think less of me for not having a career? If you met others and they talked about their successful boyfriends, would you feel embarrassed about me?"

No, she wouldn't. Brielle answered in her heart, knowing his worth was all that mattered to her. She didn't care much for societal definitions of success; she just hoped to be the only one in King's eyes. Though that was her inner thought, she responded, "It's fine, as long as you're happy."

In truth, she had spent an hour deciding, agonizing over the brand and color before settling on this particular gift. King was silent, just staring at the box.
