Hearing those words, a flash of irritation crossed King's face as he turned his gaze to the speaker. The man, sensing King's reluctance, quickly looked away. "This is the consensus we've reached after much discussion. Every king before you has done the same-taking as many wives as possible."

In Saudi Arabia, women's status is low, expected mainly to bear children, somewhat reminiscent of ancient times in Australia. Here, women have little freedom.

As a member of the royal family, having seven or eight wives is quite common. Now, as king, King was expected to have even more wives.

Brielle was thankful she had focused intensely on her studies in college, teaching herself several languages. Although she wasn't fluent in Arabic, she could understand enough of what they were saying. But she pretended not to understand, avoiding a lot of hassle. Otherwise, once these men were rejected by King, they would inevitably turn their attention to her.

Seeing Brielle's indifference, King assumed she didn't understand Arabic, which was for the best.

"King, you know very well that Saudi law allows an ordinary man to marry up to four wives, let alone you."

Brielle frowned slightly upon hearing this. She wasn't familiar with Saudi culture, but she had heard about the lower status of women in these countries. There are still about twenty countries in the world that practice polygamy, and Saudi Arabia is one of them. Brielle pretended to close her eyes, hearing King announce, "This is my wife. I've brought her here to introduce her to everyone. Besides, we already have a child."

Brielle's eyelashes fluttered, but she remained silent. She knew King was bluffing to mislead the people before them. After all, she had only been by his side for a little over a year; it was impossible for them to have a child that quickly. Yet, the men seemed to believe him. King held her hand and kissed it gently. "She's the little princess of the Lynch family, the diamond magnates. Since I've married her, I must respect her customs, or it would displease both her and her family."

The men before them had nothing more to say. In the world, the most valuable resources were oil and diamonds. One controlled Saudi oil, and the other was the princess of the leading diamond family. Forcing this princess to abide by Saudi law would indeed be too much to ask. But with King's excellent genes, how could he marry only one wife?

"King, you should really work on convincing the queen. Even if we let this slide, the major families will still send their daughters to your chamber. These women, raised in Saudi culture, are willing to be beneath this queen. Your son will be the crown prince, but please also show some love to the other women."

King grew impatient, his brow furrowing. "Let's talk about this later. I'm tired."

The men didn't pursue the conversation any further as the long convoy of luxury cars stopped at King's castle. Inside, thousands of servants had cleaned the place spotlessly, awaiting their master's return.

Holding Brielle's hand, King walked into the castle under the watchful eyes of all present. Once inside, King explained the ministers' marriage proposals to Brielle in Mandarin.

"If you see those women later,

please don't be mad at me. After I deal with my father's affairs, I'll take you back to Premier Palace, okay?" His tone was almost pleading, and he kissed her gently on the lips.

Brielle nodded, mentally prepared for what was to come. But when the doors opened, revealing the twenty or so women inside, her expression changed slightly. King ignored the others, scooping Brielle into his arms and heading for the second floor.

The second floor was off-limits, and none of the women on the first floor had ever been there. The first floor was spacious enough, with rooms arranged for them all. "Brielle, if you're tired, go to sleep."

Brielle felt a deep sense of satisfaction; he had truly kept his focus solely on her, no matter the circumstances.

"Will you stay with me?" She clung to his hand.

But King had a meeting to attend.

Now that he was back in Saudi Arabia, the ministers would surely have a pile of documents for him Brielle watched him make a call, and soon, a few workers arrived. Within minutes, they had installed a door in another wall.

Brielle was puzzled, hearing him say, "Next door is the study. I have to meet with some ministers. This door will stay open, so you can see me anytime you wake up."

After speaking, he leaned in, kissing her until she was breathless, then glanced at the time. "I'll probably be in the meeting for three hours. When you wake up, we'll have dinner together."

Brielle felt an overwhelming sense of security, so intense it nearly burst her heart. She nodded, contentedly covering herself with the blanket.
