Brielle watched the woman, tears silently streaming down her face. She furrowed her brows and tried speaking in Arabic, "What's your relation to Fisher?"

The woman seemed taken aback; she hadn't expected Brielle to know Arabic. Ever since the old king sought refuge here, nearly all the locals had learned the language. The village elder had declared these people should be treated like messiahs, almost divine beings. "Slaves," the woman replied. With the hand she could still move, she pointed to several other crates in the room. "We're all just slaves for him to vent his frustrations on."

Brielle's heart pounded, disbelief compelling her to open each crate, only to confirm her fears. Each one contained a woman. Some had their limbs severed, their bodies fixed inside the crates, exposing only the parts a man would desire.

Her stomach churned wildly, nearly making her vomit right there. She had suspected the old king was a monster, given his tolerance for his ministers' atrocities back in Saudi Arabia and his deceit towards Simone during his time as a prince. He was the epitome of a pseudo-elite, cloaking his vile and dark interior with a facade of respectability.

But seeing this scene firsthand still shocked Brielle to her core. In Fisher's eyes, women were no different from livestock. She couldn't bear to meet the eyes of these women, quickly closing the crates again, fighting the urge to throw up. She returned to the cabinet. The woman in the cabinet was the only one who seemed to retain her sanity, and her limbs were intact. But she was pregnant, still trapped in this cabinet. Fisher's deeds were beyond beastly.

Brielle's heart burned with rage, wishing she could tear Fisher apart right then and there. But she was still unfamiliar with the situation and couldn't act recklessly.

"Why do the locals still adore Fisher, despite how he treats you all?"

The woman curled up in the cabinet, her limbs long numbed. "Because this land has been abandoned by the government, plagued by disease with no cure in sight. We're the forgotten ones, but Fisher's people brought us medical aid and drinking water. The surrounding villages all trust them deeply. If outsiders try to confront them, they'll have to step over our bodies first."

Faith can make people do terrifying things, especially when it's intertwined with the hope brought by Fisher's medical aid to these forsaken people. This was troubling.

Brielle stayed silent, foreseeing the difficulties she'd face here. The woman in the cabinet looked at Brielle, her tone softening. "Are you from Australia? I've been there." Her eyes were full of longing. "It's a peaceful and prosperous country, free from disease and hunger. I envy you."

Brielle remained silent, aware that any word she spoke might salt the woman's wounds. She wasn't from a peaceful era, merely a peaceful country. The horror before her made her stomach turn. But this might not even be the darkest aspect of the world.

"Is there any deal between the village elder and Fisher?" Brielle asked.

The woman fell silent for a moment before shaking her head slightly. "Sorry, I don't know."

Brielle decided not to press further. She couldn't free the woman from the cabinet, knowing Fisher would return soon. She closed the cabinet door and moved to the window Ricardo and the professor were gone, probably assigned elsewhere.

King's people were supposed to arrive in this land within three hours, as previously agreed, but navigating through the surrounding villages would be challenging. Brielle was anxious, not for her own safety, but for the villagers, not knowing who might be sick. If Max encountered someone ill, what then?

On her way here, she noted people vomiting as if their insides were being expelled, bleeding from every orifice. She couldn't bear the thought of anyone she knew dying from such a disease! She paced the room again, eyeing the computer on the desk. But she dared not touch the electronics here, knowing Fisher had top-notch hackers who would detect any tampering immediately.
