Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1357
"Backstabber," he grumbled, his disappointment heavy as the hand he'd just placed on her shoulder. "After all that, now this?"
Emma felt like she'd been caught red-handed, gossiping about her boss, and the realization hit her like a ton of bricks. She feared for her future at Stellar Stage Entertainment, worrying they might cut ties with her over this slip-up. Yet, Dustin didn't linger on the matter. After a light, pressing nudge from his arm, he withdrew his touch, leaving Emma frozen in place, unable to muster a single word.
He turned to face her, his lips dangerously close to her ear due to his slight lean. "Go on, cat got your tongue?"
Emma's cheeks flushed a deep red, and she instinctively looked away, unable to meet his gaze.
Candice, witnessing the scene, felt a surge of anxiety. Emma had just wrapped up a selection process and now, being fired would turn her into a laughingstock in the streaming world. With over five million followers, a termination from Stellar Stage Entertainment would certainly land her in hot water, making headlines and attracting a flurry of criticism.
After all, it was Stellar Stage Entertainment that had nurtured her rise to fame.
Seeing Emma's mortified expression, Dustin decided not to press further. Harassing women was not his style. He straightened up just as Brielle called him. He answered the call and headed outside. "Hey, little falcon."
Brielle had been busy entertaining Isaac all morning and was taking a breather. She held a giant, slightly nibbled-on doughnut in her hand, a cute bunny shape that she couldn't bear to eat herself. King had taken a bite first, arguing it would make it easier for her to start eating once its perfect shape was marred.
"Everything okay at the company?" she asked.
"All smooth sailing," Dustin assured her. "Focus on having fun."
Brielle took a bite of the overly sweet doughnut. "Got it. I'll hang up now. The afternoon's activities are about to start, and Isaac's still bursting with energy. We've got a whole lineup of rides to conquer."
Dustin smiled at her words. "Don't worry about things here. Stellar Stage Entertainment has everything under control. I'll be in Beaconsfield for the next month. You and Isaac enjoy yourselves. You've earned a break, haven't you?" "Thanks, you're the best."
Dustin couldn't help but beam at her praise.
Brielle, reassured, ended the call and handed the doughnut to King, claiming it was too sweet for her taste.
They both held doughnuts shaped like animals, Isaac licking at a leopard-shaped one, though he seemed to find it too sweet as well.
Brielle took it from him, giving both
to King, who now held a bunny in one hand and a leopard in the other.
As Brielle and Isaac moved on to
buy a bubble machine, King
lag
behind, attracting covert photos and
whispers from the crowd.
"Isn't that Mr. Dorsey?" someone guessed. "But why would he be here, in a theme park, holding doughnuts? Has the world gone mad?"
The rumors flew as they followed King's path toward Brielle and Isaac.
There, Brielle was examining a massive bubble machine, her interest piqued.
King approached, chuckling softly at
yel
the situation but soon felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He paused, sitting down to regain his strength.
Moments later, he rejoined Brielle, wrapping an arm around her in a gentle embrace.
Brielle's body stiffened in surprise. "Max?"
"Mhm."
He took her hand, their fingers interlocking as they navigated the bustling theme park. Isaac led the way, his new bubble machine creating a kaleidoscope of bubbles that popped upon touching Brielle.
Max was momentarily distracted by King's indignant mental chatter.
"Max, what are you doing? You wanted to spend the day with Little Canary, and now you're here with my doughnuts?" "Max, get back here!"
"You're too loud," Max muttered, tuning out King's complaints as they continued their leisurely stroll through the park.
