Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 947
He had asked Brielle, but she hadn't given him much of a response.
Mason had thought about making the trip to Beaconsfield countless times, but he was swamped. He had promised Brielle they would seize this opportunity. Their future involved buying a skyscraper in the heart of Wall Street, but for now, they were just starting out, having secured a few billion in funding. He couldn't afford to slack off.
Deep down, he knew he was making excuses. He feared that the turmoil he felt that night meant nothing to Tiffanie.
Tiffanie wasn't answering calls or responding to texts, just like the kind of heartbreaker his buddies warned him about.
In between his hectic schedule, Mason's thoughts would drift to his late mother.
She used to curse the Dorsey family with a fiery passion, damning Everett for abandoning her.
But she had been wonderful to him. Aside from her occasional rants, she had devoted her life to him. Otherwise, how could a boy from an average family without a father's love climb to where he was now?
Her greatest wish was to see him settled down with a gentle, kind-hearted wife.
But she didn't live to see it happen, succumbing to her depression.
A gentle, kind-hearted wife...
Was Tiffanie that kind of woman?
Mason asked himself that question countless times, yet he couldn't help but call her, follow her updates, until he found out her flight was headed to his city. He was over the moon, hastily texting her.
After a long silence, Tiffanie finally responded to his messages.
While listening to the executives' reports, he typed his response.
How could that be? That person is talking nonsense. At least, I like you.
Mason was always that straightforward.
Tiffanie was pleased with the reply, slipping her phone into her purse before boarding the plane.
Now she had a reason to go abroad, to enter Mason's company, make him her boyfriend, and then have a child. A family of three would return to Beaconsfield, flaunting their happiness in front of Everett. She wondered how Everett would react. Just the thought brought a slight smile to Tiffanie's lips.
Sitting on the plane, watching the ground recede, she occasionally touched her neck as if last night's chain was still there, never removed.
She took a deep breath, sweat beading on her forehead.
It's okay, everything will get better once I'm abroad.
Brielle found out about Tiffanie's departure two days later.
Along with that news came the report of William collapsing at Dorsey International.
They said he had just left the executive office when he fell, now rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
Victoria was by William's side at the time, knowing the Dorsey family's empire was within reach. If William didn't continue to keep Everett in check, Everett might find a way to leave.
Victoria couldn't bear such a scenario, so whenever Everett was away, she would stick close to William, showering him with praise. Victoria's reaction to William's collapse was nonchalant.
After all, if William couldn't be the heir to Dorsey International, there were others, like Antonio.
Antonio was her younger relative, likely more willing to meet her demands.
While William was in critical care, Victoria called to berate Max, but Brielle took the call. From the harsh words, Brielle pieced together Tiffanie's departure and William's collapse.
Victoria ranted like a madwoman before remembering she was speaking to Max, which made her suddenly fear the consequences. But then Brielle's voice came through the line.
Victoria's energy surged, and she unleashed a torrent of insults at Brielle.
Brielle hung up, now certain of Victoria's mental instability, and called Mason. "Tiffanie's gone abroad?"
Mason glanced at Tiffanie, still lazing in bed. Their days had been wild since she landed.
Brielle's call was like a slap to wake him up, and he coughed uncomfortably.
"Yeah."
"Have you guys met up? Cleared up any misunderstandings?"
There really weren't any misunderstandings. Mason didn't care about Tiffanie's past as long as he was the only one in her future. "Yeah."
Brielle sensed something off in his voice but didn't pry.
After hanging up, she saw Max coming downstairs.
Brielle was about to ask him what
was up when the doorbell rang, revealing a man in a wheelchair, his face stern, hands resting on the armrests.
"I ran the tests myself. The boss has been poisoned."
William poisoned?
