Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 998
Brielle had no clue about Alivia's underhanded plans; in fact, she had practically forgotten about her. When she stepped into the grand ballroom decked out in her elegant gown, the room went silent for a beat. A director even came up to her, curious if she was the star of some blockbuster film.
People from abroad were always so warm, never holding back their praise. Brielle was soon surrounded by a crowd of admirers, answering their questions one by one. Suddenly, a familiar voice chimed in from nearby.
Brielle froze, turning towards the voice to find Alivia standing there. She hadn't expected to see her here. Alivia had shed the desperate, defeated look she had back home, now carrying herself like the high-and-mighty Barnes family heiress once more.
"She's not the lead in any movie; she's just here to crash the red carpet, right, Brielle?"
Alivia's eyes were filled with contempt as she looked at Brielle, as if she still had her under her thumb. Spending too much time with Desiree Lynch, where everyone treated her like royalty, had brought back her old arrogance. She had even met Dustin a few times and fancied that he might have a thing for her. Even if she couldn't be Desiree's goddaughter, she could still aim to be the wife of Infinity Brilliance's CEO. With Infinity Brilliance's influence in North America, who did she need to worry about? Smirking, she swirled the wine in her glass.
"Artists from Stellar Stage Entertainment attending this event must mean they have something noteworthy, but I don't recall hearing about their CEO getting an invite. With Stellar's status, scoring an invite must be quite the feat, right?"
Alivia's disdain for Brielle ran deep. She would never forget the humiliation when she left Beaconsfield, nearly groveling to maintain some dignity, only to be rejected. Abroad, she had regained her confidence and was determined to reclaim everything Brielle had taken from her-tonight!
She had secretly started a live stream, her people mingling in the crowd to capture the moment. Alivia planned to expose Brielle in front of everyone at the gala. She had done her homework: aside from Keiran, Aubree, and some directors, no one from Stellar Stage Entertainment had received an invite. Brielle was indeed crashing the event.
In their social circles, nothing was more looked down upon than gatecrashers-desperation was just plain cheap! Alivia remembered all the online hate she had endured and was set on making Brielle's suffering a hundred, a thousand times worse.
Before she even spotted Brielle,
Alivia had teased on her
international Twitter that she would reveal Brielle's vanity tonight. Trying to elevate herself to be worthy of Max, was she? As long as Brielle remained an unwanted orphan from the foster system, she'd never be good enough for him!
Alivia despised Brielle and was bitter about Max. She wasn't going to miss this chance to make Brielle laughingstock. Her Twitter was already blowing up with over half a million comments, everyone eagerly waiting for her live stream.
The device for the live stream was in someone else's hand, ready for Alivia to make her move on Brielle. The live room was packed, viewers itching for the drama.
"Alivia's taken her feud with Brielle overseas? These two are really archenemies."
"A nobody like Brielle climbing the ranks at Dorsey International-wasn't it because she slept with Max?"
The online comments were getting
nastier, and the live stream drew
more eyes to the unfolding spectacle. The feed was crystal clear, evidence of careful planning. Haters of independent women left a
barrage of nasty comments
They accused Brielle of being a pretender, a woman who used men to climb up the ladder, now acting all high and mighty. The gala went silent with Alivia's sudden outburst, all eyes on Brielle. Brielle realized that even abroad, Alivia hadn't changed one bit.
"Brielle, you might not know the rules here, but uninvited guests are usually shown the door."
Alivia's smile was a thinly veiled display of triumph.
